Mitt Romney and President Obama at tonight’s debate.

A RESET

Tonight’s Town Hall Meeting debate was a reset in this Presidential race. Both Mitt Romney and President Obama came out swinging. It was almost like a prize fight between two guys in Brooks Brothers suits. No one took any crap fro one another. Romney was going to stake out his agenda on the strength of his first debate performance. Obama had to make the case for what he accomplished in his first term. Plus he had to counter Romney and engage him in a count counterpoint manner that gave the American people the impression that he indeed want to fight for his job and by osmosis his policies. President Barack Obama was aggressive as he accused Mitt Romney of favoring a plan to help the rich. Obama said he was offended when Romney started to politicize the Libya attack a month ago. Obama’s anger showed through when he said that his team should not be used as a political football in this tragic circumstance. Romney pushed back saying the middle class has been crushed over the last four years, and that 23 million Americans are struggling to find employment. President Obama was fast on his feet and appeared to be focused like a laser beam with the task at hand. from the outset than he had been in their initial encounter two weeks ago, when he Obama challenged Romney on economics and energy policy, accusing him of switching positions and declaring that his economic plan was a "sketchy deal" that the public should reject. Romney was as strong as before even interrupting the President during a few sequences. He said the president's policies had failed to jump start the economy and crimped energy production. An open-stage format left the two contenders stroll freely across a stage, Their dust ups crackled with tension and nervous energy. The crowd at Hofstra University watched as the two political foes duked it out. The rivals disagreed about taxes, measures to reduce the deficit, energy, pay equity for women and health care issues. Immigration prompted yet another clash, Romney saying Obama had failed to pursue the comprehensive legislation he promised at the dawn of his administration, and the President saying Republican obstructionism made a deal impossible.
Moderator Candy Crowley did a good job at refereeing the clash. Republicans are saying that Romney did well and held the President’s feet to the fire. Democrats who were disappointed in the first Obama performance are breathing a sigh of relief glad that Obama seemed more engaged and actually defended some of the things he did in his administration. While the first debate stopped the slide for Romney, and even gave him a leg up in some key battle ground states, this second debate will give President Obama’s supporters solace that his campaign and message are back on track. If anything, this debate performance by Obama will re energize the faithful. The interesting aspect of Obama’s performance is that he seemed to shore up faltering bases like the women’s vote. While Obama talked about women in the workplace, Romney talked about finding women in binders to staff his administration. As soon as I heard that, I thought, “Didn’t he know any competent women on his own from his business days?” Correct me if I’m wrong but women were in corporate America in the late 80s and 90s right?
I thought it was interesting that there were no concerted efforts to drag people to "debate parties" to watch the President this time around. I can only conclude that the Obama faithful wants to hold their collective breaths alone in the privacy of their own homes.
The next debate will come on Monday. Right now the calibration has been reset. I would not be surprised if the Romney surge in the battleground states slumps a but and Obama regains his footing. Tonigtht’s debate went a long way toward making this race what everyone suspected all along it would be, a nail biter.

Good morning Students,

You all look quite unusual for a Wednesday, what with your red eyes and alcoholic stench. I can only assume you have been up celebrating the media crowned victory of the President in last night’s debate. As is usually the case with little children, you live in a world of sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. Allow this old fogy to educate you……

The business of the classroom goes forward……..

Youngsters,

Last night was a display of rudeness, cockiness and sheer foolish chutzpah the likes of which I have never seen. Both the President and the Moderator were beyond acting respectively like a gentleman and a lady (?). President Elect Romney showed class and detail as he addressed the group of undecided voters (though I suspect the group was at least somewhat stocked with 35 to 50% Democrats). As Mr. Romney attempted to call out the President on the Libya Keystone Cops debacle, Ms. Crowley (of CNN) chastised him on a stupid fact. In all aspects the Governor’s points were correct, except for one small unimportant detail. Remember, we had Pres. Obama’s UN Secy. Ms. Rice (no relation to Condi) stating for weeks that the attacks and murder of Ambassador Stevens and three others (God Rest their souls) were the result of a video, when in fact they were not. No one can tell me that she was NOT taking her direction from the White House. If you believe that then I have a water hole on the corner I would like to sell you after class.

Ms. Crowley reminds me of a former colleague of mine in the 1950s. She was the first female Professor at the College of which I worked. This woman was taken in to teach literature. Although her idea of literature was boring two hour lectures on the validity of Dorothy Parker’s poems. I often recall her in social situations being very standoffish to the rest of us, acting as if we were evil---behavior almost bordering on hatred of men. My colleagues and myself would sit after hours amongst good cigars and wine and debate exactly why this woman had no man in her life. We all, of course knew why. Need I elaborate??????

But of course, if we are to believe the media, we are now back in a competitive race. As my grandfather used to say “Poppycock!!!!”

For one thing, even if the President performed as the media would have us believe it does not matter. The first debate is the most important and had the largest audience. The dye has been cast. Last evening’s contest probably was viewed by half of the audience which viewed the first one. That, ingrates, matters!!!!!
The polls have already moved drastically in the Governor’s favor. Even our home state of Pennsylvania has come within reach. Look for Obama’s lead in Ohio to be gone by this weekend. This is not a surprise to me as I have always known and stated to you all, WILLARD MITT ROMNEY WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!!!

Something to think about this morning……
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barack is Back, Baby!

In the words of my generation, "Romney got pwned like the n00b he is!"

Andrew Sullivan said that he was "bloody elated!" last night, and I agree, I was too.

Cheers, mate.

Last night, Romney spoke about how he will crack down on China and how he is so concerned for small companies and the people who work there. Well, Google Sensata, a technology company in Freeport ILL. Romney spent $8 million dollars to purchase 51% of it and it now in the process of moving it to China. The move to China will be completed by November 5, 2012 but Romney didn't think anyone world notice because it is a non union shop ..... WRONG! The Steel Workers noticed and took up the cause of the 175 people who will lose their jobs to China. The new China company owned by Mitt Romney will be head quartered in Bemuda so Romney's profits can go straight to his off shore accounts. By the way, the plant in China hires young women who work 12 hour days, seven days a week and must stay in dormatories 3 to a room and their wages? Ninety nine (99) cents per hour. That's how presidential candidate earns his millions, on the backs of the woman of China and then he turns his back on American workers who will lose their profit making company so Romney can earn more millions. When is enough, enough? How can he do this to Americans who he says he cares so much for. A bum, a pure bum who only concerns himself with his own wealth. Google it, SENSATA, FREEPORT ILL. Obama dun good! I loved it when he called Romney on his conversation in the Rose Garden and corrected Romney that he did call it a terror attack and Romney insisted it was for two weeks that he did so and the moderator said, yes he did and Obama said, would you say that louder Candy? Loved it.
Obama did hit on China and Romney's investments there, I just wish he mentioned Sensata which is owned by Romney and will be comletely moved to China by Nov 5th. It is a money making company and 175 will lose their jobs and Romney says he will be tough on China....... what a joke.

The Professor has become more than just pathetic, he seems to have lost all touch with reality. I think he waited too long to entire. I think he has finally stepped over the edge. When I was a kid, during the mass, the priest would always pray for the speedy recovery or happy death of the faithful. Can we please have a silent moment of prayer in honor of the poor professor? We pray Lord that You hasten the professor on his journey to a peaceful and loving nursing home or into the arms of God our Father. Amen. Thank you,
Pastor Dilly

"Pastor Dilly" and congregation,

Once again you offer no supporting evidence to contradict an opposing point of view. All that is offered are continued sophomoric insults towards someone whose views you neither understand nor factually respond.

Wishing something death because you disagree with them is the seed of social maladjustment leading to socio-pathological behavior.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

This blog has a much higher bar.
