CASEY TAKES A STAND
"The dual purpose of marriage: the unity and love of a man and a woman, and procreation has been rooted in human history long before any religion, nation or law was established. Senator Casey's position is contrary to the teaching of the Catholic Church”.
So as a person who married a person who along with me made the decision not to procreate, I’m wondering is my marriage contrary to the church? How about some friends of mine who got married in the 50s and can\’t have kids even if they wanted to, is that marriage contrary to church belief?
There is plenty of transmission of human life going on these days. The illegitimate birth rate is hovering around 50%. Then there are the kids who are being born into one night stands, multiple father situations that are discarded along the way. Is that preferable to two gay people raising a kid?
The church is on the wrong side of history on this one. And I give Casey credit for taking a stand for people, not an abstract outline of teachings that just aren’t applicable in today’s society.
There is the predictable blowback from, Casey’s political opponents/. But you know what? This will make Bob Casey Junior stronger in his final term as a United States Senator. Look for him to build a series of achievements and set of practical principles in the next five years which will put him in good shape for his ultimate political destination, a candidate for Governor in 2018. Remember folks, you read it here first. In the meantime, good for Bob Casey Junior!
THE CHIEFS WEIGH IN
Sometimes its good to have former Police Chiefs on a City Council. When everything on an issue seems to be hazy, they have a tendency to put it in proper perspective. It was revealed this week that the city Tower, LAG lent luxury vehicles to some police officers. One policeman even bought a vehicle from Leo Glodzik. Here’s what the Chiefs said about that arrangement: "There's certain things that you just don't do," said council Chairman Bill Barrett. "You don't need to be indebted to anyone, especially someone you have day-to-day business with." Councilman Tony George said police should avoid accepting any type of gifts simply because it could appear to be improper. "If a contractor gave you something, you would assume that when this guy needs a favor, you'd do it for him, and that's what you're trying to avoid," George said. "Appearance is the reality," Barrett said. "It's integrity, and it's something you're risking your integrity over."The Citizen Voice’s Christopher Hong and James Halpin reported that in a story relating the relationships between LAG Towing and the City of Wilkes Barre employees. The owner of LAG Towing said he let a lot of people use his cars, not just police when they needed them. “I let people use my cars, absolutely," Glodzik said. "It doesn't matter if they're a police officer or not."
Okay, we’ll bite, give Mr. Glodzick a holler today and ask him for a loaner. See what happens. "

Maybe the cops used lag man cars and filled the tanks at the city pumps
Casey is elected to represent the people of Pennsylvania. Not the Catholic Church or the Catholic people of PA! Overall I think Bob Casey is doing a good job. Times and attitudes are subject to change.

It seems that the LAG towing episodes are becoming an albatross around the W-B officials neck these days. If the mayor and other officials want to stay in office I can see them very shortly doing something drastic on this subject. But thats only a guess on my part.
