KING’S LOST GEM

(Photo: boktowergarden.com)
If Martin Luther King Junior had been alive in this era of 24 hour news, Facebook and Twitter we’d hear every utterance he made on this earth. But back when King was on the front lines for equality for all Americans there were just three TV networks, newspapers and radio. In many parts of the country, King’s words were either ignored by malice or just apathy. King is of course famous for the “I Have A Dream Speech” but today a speech was released that has been under wraps for over 51 years. King was in New York on a dias with Governor Nelson Rockefeller, an outspoken advocate for King’s beliefs. Take a listen to this lost gem of Martin Luther King.

Good morning students,
I hope you are all by now well recovered from your playoff hangovers and that your bets with your respective bookies have panned out in your favor. I myself enjoyed a quiet weekend, playing bridge and enjoying a few glasses of fine wine at my local club. I appreciate Mr. Yonki’s offering on Dr. King who was the subject of much conversation amongst my brethren Saturday evening.

History has a way of being re-written. When legend becomes fact, print the legend. There is but no question that Dr. King was a brave man. Equally he was a dedicated man in the fight for equality of all Americans. And yet, if MLK were alive today, he would not be happy with what he would have witnessed pertaining to the African American Community, or for that matter some of the views of today’s Democratic party.

Martin Luther King was a man of God. No one is going to stand up and tell me that if the good Doctor were here today that he would be in favor of legalized abortion. Equally, no one is going to convince me that he would be in favor of gay rights. No one. And I must confess to finding enormous joviality in the fact that the left has made him their patron saint, along with the late President Kennedy.

King and JFK were social conservatives, who did not believe government had a major role to play in our daily lives. Case in point: “Every American must have the opportunity to succeed or fail based on their efforts and not the color of their skin.” SO stated President Kennedy. The secret word is “fail”. What JFK was pointing out is that the goal of civil rights is not to provide handouts, but equal opportunity to achieve along with Caucasians a free productive life. And let us be frank, this is all King asked for.

Anyone old enough to recall the horrors of Jim Crow can realize that the attainment of equal rights was a phenomenal achievement. JFK deserves some credit. MLK deserves a lot more. And, if I am to be honest, President Lyndon Johnson put it over the top. And let us not forget the thousands of black and white citizens whose efforts via the leadership of Dr. King brought the dream of equality into the sunshine of reality. They also deserve credit. Yet, students, the problem arose when too much was sought such as creating generations of welfare families when the original intent of the assistance program was to be temporary. And I will also remind you that Affirmative Action is simply discrimination in reverse.

For the record, prejudices destroy. And the vile act of prejudice is not confined to Caucasian folks.
I think if Dr. King were here today he would agree.
Something to think about this morning……
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I APOLOGIZE. THE LOONEY TUNES VERSION OF DR. KING HITTING THE SEGRATIONISTS OVER THE HEAD WITH AN ANVIL WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE.

Dave, contrary to 7:11 PM, I thoroughly enjoyed the King speech but I can't say the same for this so called ;professor. So much of what he states is so wrong that it just isn't worth the time or effort of response. I would simply ask him and those who take such joy in thumping the bible that they need to take a lesson from Christ's time on earth. Where, name just one instance where He spoke out against the gay life. You can't, He didn't and the high and mighty who think they have the responsibility to judge others here on earth are in are a very rude awakening. If they truly believe then they had better start asking themselves why Christ Himself never mentioned the gay life if in deed it is such a horrid lifestyle. I don't pray their eyes be opened because I simply don't give a damn if they walk into walls with their blind superiority or if they walk off cliffs. Speaking of that, can't we get this so called professor to just shut up and go back to his fine wine?

Young man,
The reason Dr King did NOT speak of homosexuality is simple. It was not an issue at the time. As was not now legalized abortion.

I feel that the good Doctor had much more on his mind than pervasive acts....such as equality amongst the races to succeed or fail based on his efforts and not his skin color.

Young man,
You are dismissed!!!!!!!!!
