Toomey has a good war chest and he is sending a message across the bow that he is ready.
The candidates running for President on the Republican side have been very slow to criticize Donald Trump on his immigration comments. Donald Trump made some really horrible and crazy comments two weeks ago about Hispanics. The reaction from his fellow GOP aspirants for President has been tepid to be sure. Jeb Bush said Trump didn’t represent the Republican party but that was after he was pushed. Rick Perry seemed to be the strongest person to come out and repudiate the comments. So too did Chris Christie calling them inappropriate. Predictably Ted Cruz thought they were just dandy.
The failure of the Republicans to disavow these comments strongly will hurt them no matter who gets the nomination. To not come after Trump in any meaningful way is a risky proposition. The Hispanic voting bloc as I have written several times here is fluid. They don’t go in lockstep for the Democrats like the black vote or the Pro Life people to the GOP Conservative base. The question they are asking now and will ask in the General Election, long after Trump has flamed out is this “What took you so long?”
Barletta’s statement is as follows:
“My heart breaks for the family and friends of Kate Steinle, as they have seen a promising young life ended too soon, and the suspect is a criminal who should never have been in this country in the first place. That her accused killer is a seven-time felon, was deported five times, and was prevented from being deported a sixth by San Francisco policies, is as maddening as it is inexplicable. These so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ are safe havens for everyone but law-abiding citizens.
“The tragic situation brings to mind my own experiences while mayor of Hazleton, when 29-year-old Derek Kichline was murdered by an illegal immigrant while working on his truck in his own driveway in 2006. His accused assailant had been arrested more than half a dozen times, but was still in the country. His death was the last straw for me, and the reason I became fully engaged in combating illegal immigration.
“Proponents of amnesty for illegal immigrants continuously use images of children as arguments for forgiving unlawful immigration behavior, but where is the outrage when an innocent life is taken by someone who should not have been present in this country? If we were serious about securing our borders and protecting American citizens, perhaps Kate Steinle and Derek Kichline would still be alive today.” (Congressman Barletta's office).

Seems like that low-life 4 time deported illegal who killed the daughter in front of her father sorta VALIDATES Trumps comments dontchathink?
Yeah Trump. He's spot on and everyone is too afraid of the "outrage squirrels" to support him. A country without secure borders is NOT a country.

IN RESPONSE
Here's what bothers me. When 911 happened weren't agencies supposed to start talking to each other? It was a disgrace that this scum was walking the streets. My regret is that this thing is going to drag on in the courts. He'll be painted a victim.
This will embolden Trump. And with good reason.
But the fact is San Francisco should be held responsible for not turning him over.
Did I hear right? This killer has a 2nd grade education and is unable to understand the subtleties of our laws.
If so: Score another one for Trump!
