Tuesday The European Union declared the Trump administration a "threat" fortifying what many Europeans think privately about this President. This announcement is the precursor for increased tension between the US and EU.
European Union President Donald Tusk's diplomatic bombshell listed the Trump administration as a threat alongside China, Russia, terrorism and radical Islam, adding that "worrying declarations by the new American administration all make our future highly unpredictable."
"The change in Washington puts the European Union in a difficult situation; with the new administration seeming to put into question the last 70 years of American foreign policy," Tusk said in a letter to EU members. (London Times).
During the campaign, Trump bellowed about the failed foreign policy of the Obama administration but at least our allies in Europe know we had their back. It will escape irony for the Trump regime but how unsettling is it that after two weeks, the United States of America is seen as the biggest threat to Europe along with China (a country Trump has been bashing for years and Islam (which TAHFQ has said he will destroy).
But irony and even reality doesn’t exist in Trump land.
The Democrats feel rightly that this seat was stolen by the GOP Senators who wouldn’t even take Merritt Garland’s phone calls. Garland, President Obama’s pick now becomes a footnote in history.
It has been said that just because the Senate didn’t even give the Obama selection a hearing, that the Democrats should be better people and be gracious.
Screw that.
It is now the duty of the Democratic party to block this President at any turn. Is that petty? God how can you call that petty when McConnell was the most obstructionist Senate leader in history. It is time to send a message that once you get screwed time and time over, you never go back and ask for more. Gorsuch might not be defeated, but at least he’ll be bloodied.
She did her part, cutting her agency’s budget by 22 percent, curtailing research and enforcement activities and scaling back regulations on air and water pollution. (Carbon dioxide and climate change, the most contentious issues facing the EPA today, weren’t yet on anyone’s agenda.) She even attempted to relax limits, imposed in the 1970s, on lead additives to gasoline, regulations that are credited now with preventing the poisoning of large numbers of children. A New York Times editorial in 1983 said she had taken one of the most effective government agencies and left it “reeking of cynicism, mismanagement and decay.
She lasted less than two years in the job, brought down by a series of congressional investigations — the House was controlled by Democrats then — into her management of the Superfund program to clean up toxic-waste sites. She refused to comply with subpoenas on the grounds of executive privilege, and evidence suggested that key documents had been shredded. (Yahoo News).
Since the Trump supporters has made a mountain out of many molehills during his campaign against his opponents, it might be instructive to find out a little bit more about this “legal straight shooter's” family ties.
Scott Wagner’s campaign for Governor is off to a blistering start, reporting to the Department of State today a $4.2 million dollar war chest.
And the Wagner team is just getting warmed up. The York County businessman and state senator has assembled a finance team of top-notch fundraisers from all corners of the state to raise necessary funds to assure a victory.
Campaign manager Amanda Davidson noted that Wagner currently has numerous fundraising events scheduled, with more being added almost daily.
“Pennsylvanians are hungry for our Commonwealth to break the status quo and they want a strong leader and visionary," Wagner said. "I am honored by the tremendous outpouring of support our campaign has drawn from every region of the Commonwealth and pleased to see how energized people are with our campaign."
With the state GOP run like an old time political machine, it seems like the state committee is looking for someone to oppose Tom Wolf in 2018.
Hmmm…let’s see, “I am a visionary” and “strong leader” and I’m against “the status quo”.
Obladi Oblada……………
Lou Barletta voted to overturn a new rule from the Social Security Administration (SSA) that would have the effect of stripping the 2nd Amendment rights of citizens simply because they need help in managing their finances. The rule, issued in the waning days of the Obama Administration, affects people who receive Disability Insurance or Supplemental Social Security benefits for certain mental health conditions, and who also are deemed to require someone to help manage their benefits. The list of mental health conditions includes such afflictions as bulimia, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder. People covered by the rule would have their names sent to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) and be prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms.
“It seems incredible that President Obama would use Social Security and a blanket policy as means to limit the lawful ownership of firearms, but that’s just what he did on his way out the door,” Barletta said. “This rule, stated simply, says that if your grandmother has anxiety and needs help managing her finances, she gets reported to NICS and is stripped of a Constitutional right. That cannot stand.”
So Barletta talks about a blanket rule and then picks out grandmothers as his example?
Anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder are the two phrases here. Does he want people who are anxious or are obsessive compulsive getting clearance? Two things here:
1. NO ONE IS BEING STOPPED FROM GETTING GUNS!
2. THEY WILL BE CHECKED.
Lou says that can’t stand. What can’t stand is Barletta opposing any reasonable background check for a mental disorder.
What can’t stand is Barletta dealing with this and not bringing any jobs into the city he led.
