Recently in one of our Write On Wednesday editions we wrote about the silly $5.00 a buck car fee that comes the Luzerne County. The ruse they are using is that the “fee” will pay for fixing potholes. Many people, like me aren’t buying it. A Letter from The Times Leader is featured.

COUNTY $5 CAR REGISTRATION FEE A JOKE

Luzerne County Council is once again entertaining notion of adding a $5 increase to the already high cost of registering a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania.
This they’re telling us will be spent exclusively on repairing county-owned roads and bridges. What a farce!
Remember a few years ago, Pennsylvania changed the fuel tax from a fixed cost per gallon to a percentage on the wholesale price per gallon? It was sold to the motoring public as the best way to repairing our deplorable roads and bridges. Really!
Anyone with half a brain or no brain knows that turned out to be a joke!
Just try driving the Sans Souci Parkway from Nanticoke to Wilkes-Barre and you will understand what I’m talking about.
Car owners of Luzerne County remember one indisputable truth: “The more things change, the more they stay the same!”
