Highlighting the Republican preference for helping the wealthy, Pelosi promised to “redeem the promise of the American dream for every family, advancing progress for every community,” a policy that may not sit well with the GOP, which for years has fought against those priorities
“We have no illusions that our work will be easy and that all of us in this chamber will always agree. But let us give a pledge that when we disagree we respect each other and we respect the truth,” added Pelosi, who recently accused Trump of being resistant to facts.
She pledging a “transparent, bipartisan, and unifying” Congress, and in a not-so-subtle trolling, promised to send legislation re-opening the government to the Senate, where Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to block the bill from even reaching the floor.
The new speaker also co-opted Trump’s presidential campaign slogan, saying “We will make America more American by protecting DREAMers.”
Pelosi closed her speech by citing Republican presidents Reagan and Bush, another not-so-subtle dig at her Republican opposition, and then gaveled the House into session.
She quoted Ronald Reagan and the inert GOP Congressman who did SHIT for 8 years sat on their smug asses with their little puss face on.
Ms. Pelosi………..do it without them. The late Robert P. Casey Senior used to say “You will be judged by what you did when you had the power!” The little men scowling will be judged as little, vapid, empty suited men they are. men

He was successful in politics just as he was in athletics and teaching. But he had a passion for good government and giving working class people a fair shake. An old time pol, Bromo never missed a wake of a good friend's family or neighbor. It wasn't about votes but about human decency.
I was happy to have a few breakfasts with him when he was running for various offices after his time as County Commissioner. The sessions were entertaining and enlightening.
Though a Democrat to the core, Edd would give a politician his due, party or not when he was critiquing their work. With the current President, Edd was working overtime in calling out the insanity of the President and in particular the gutless cowards calling themselves modern day Republicans.
See Brominski never understood that lack of character because when he gave an opinion, if he believed it was in the best interests of the people he represented, he never worried about the consequences of his own political skin.
Brominski is stepping down because of health concerns. We hope his outcomes are good and we hope to still see him holding court at Bakehouse with “his table” of friends.
He has contributed a lot to this county and we wish him nothing but good health as he steps into the sundown of a career marked by passion for the people he always represented with honor and a little bit of irascibility. He did that just to keep them guessing.
“I was honored to be sworn-in today as a Member of 116th Congress. I’m looking forward to the next two years working with my colleagues to promote policies that will benefit and strengthen working-class families by creating jobs and rebuilding America.”
“Northeastern Pennsylvania reflects the make-up and spirit of much of the country. I understand both the hardships and the concerns that many rural and small-town Americans have. What would help is for the Congress to focus on infrastructure rebuilding, shoring up Social Security and Medicare without cuts, making health care more affordable, and reducing the high cost of prescription drugs. I will be a strong advocate for these and other policies geared to restore hope and opportunities for all.”
Cartwright is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, serving on the Subcommittees for Commerce-Justice-Science and Financial Services & General Government. Cartwright is also a member of the House Leadership, serving as Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee and a member of the Steering and Policy Committee.
This will be Rep. Cartwright’s fourth term representing Northeastern Pennsylvania but his first term representing the new PA-08 congressional district which includes Lackawanna, Wayne, and Pike Counties and portions of Luzerne and Monroe Counties.
I have always had a special place in my heart for The Rural Health Corporation. In the 80s I actually did slide show advertising for them and served on their advisory board. So I was glad to see our Congressman giving them a leg up on some worthwhile projects. But I guess my question is why could Matt Cartwright, a guy in the minority get this grant for rural Pennsylvania when Tom Marino is in a rural district and a bosom buddy of Trump? Just wondering.
Anyway, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency (HHS) has awarded a $3,074,309 grant to Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern PA in Wilkes-Barre.
“This funding will continue to provide families and individuals with the preventive care and treatment they need to live healthy lives,” said Rep. Cartwright a member of the House Appropriations Committee. “Community health centers remain a crucial part of our system to provide everyone with access to affordable, quality care.”
The Health Center Cluster Grants Program is awarded on a competitive basis to grantees that have demonstrated quality care to their communities and is overseen by HHS’ Health Resources and Services Administration agency.
Congressman Cartwright continues to be an advocate for community health centers and health equity in Northeastern Pennsylvania and throughout the country. He recognizes the important role local health centers play in providing care to underserved communities.

There has been concern of Apple "tanking" even when their valuation topped one trillion. Apple has become a one product company, they no longer innovate, including their signature product, the iPhone.
Their marketing, which for decades was cutting edge, has become bland.
And the primary causes of this drop is the fact that they overestimated their impact in emerging markets, which has been less than stellar, combined with flat sales for the last 3 years in existing markets. This was occurring long before the tariffs.
What drove Apple was the cult of personality, and that personality was Steve Jobs. Tim Cook has done an admirable job following the digital age messiah, but he is not Jobs.
No company is immune from consumer fatigue and poor strategic planning. From PanAm, to Tandy to RadioShack to Kmart to Sears and on and on.
The actual reason for Apples decline is much more involved, but I doubt you have the actual intellectual curiosity to educate yourself to factual information
Perhaps, you should actually take a moment to investigate something before you publish an inaccurate post.
I am curious, is this how you do your new job as a health educator, half facts and inaccurate conclusions?
How well do you sleep, Donald Trump?
Do you hear what, in the night, goes bump?
Your options are fleeting
And your support is bleeding.
You're the one the people soon will dump.
