WRITE ON WEDNESDAY
Our “Write On Wednesday” logo.
This week we do not write about the thug pig President Diaper Don. Instead we pick a writing about his enablers who continue to support the illogical conclusion that D.D. won. The House GOP Leadership this week takes the award for Trump ass kisser and sycophant. They are a disgrace but Times Shamrock will elaborate better than this blog editor.
GOP HOUSE LEADERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED
House Speaker and Trumpanzee extraordinaire Bryan Cutler. See the brown in his beard? It isn’t the hair.
Hours after Rudy Giuliani and Trump presidential campaign officials accused Pennsylvania Republican legislative leaders of being cowards for declining to attempt to overturn the clear results of the Nov. 3 presidential election, those leaders proved just how craven they are.
The state constitution and law preclude the Legislature from appointing presidential electors other than those mandated by Pennsylvania’s voters — you. Scranton native Joe Biden, president-elect, carried the state by 80,555 votes. The result has been certified, so all of the state’s 20 electors are bound to cast their votes for Biden in the Electoral College.
Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer, has led the Trump campaign’s spectacularly unsuccessful effort to overturn Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia.
After the Pennsylvania GOP lawmakers announced that they could not comply with the Trump campaign’s preposterous demand to disenfranchise 6.8 million voters, those lawmakers came up with a disgraceful stunt of their own.
Led by House Speaker Bryan Cutler of Lancaster, 60 Republican House members signed a letter to the Pennsylvania congressional delegation asking the 18 U.S. representatives and two U.S. senators to disgrace themselves by starting a process to reject the electors mandated by Pennsylvania’s voters.
Such a process would require at least one representative and one senator to start the effort in Congress. To his credit, Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey flatly rejected the stunt for what it was.
Faced with a raging pandemic and its economic fallout, Cutler and his minions have decided to waste their and the public’s time on useless political stunts that demonstrate their lack of respect for the democratic process and the Pennsylvania citizens they swore to represent.
They should withdraw the letter and apologize to the citizens of the commonwealth for their legislative malpractice.
