FETTERMAN ON MANCHIN: "INFURIATING"

Senator Joe Manchin has now suggested that Democrats in the Senate "hit the pause button" on President Biden's plan to make a historic and urgently needed investment in our nation's infrastructure.

HOW could a sitting Senator say we need to hit pause on infrastructure on the very same day of severe and deadly floods and destruction across Pennsylvania, the Northeast, and the South. Hurricane Ida has once again laid bare the fact that our current infrastructure is outdated and neglected. And it won't stand a fighting chance against the climate emergency that becomes more dire by the day.

Respectfully — now is not the time to "hit the pause button." Now is the time to take action and rebuild. Period.  By now, I've made it pretty clear what I think about Democrats who choose to needlessly stand in the way of the bold progress that working people across the country voted for. It is my solemn pledge to you that I will not be one of those kinds of Senators. I will *always* act with conviction and vote in favor of progress for the working families of our Commonwealth.  If you want a Democrat that you can depend on, that you know is always going to stand up and fight for you, and is actually going to vote like a Democrat, then I am humbly asking for support in his  campaign.

JOYCE DOMBROSKI GEPHARDT 

 

This last week .k Joyce Dombroski Gephardt passed away. She was a friend to this blog and was one of the original attendees of Blogfest. She always attended with her late father who was also politically active. We were on both side of the political aisle but remained cordial.Here's her obit from the Times Leader.

Joyce Dombroski-Gebhardt, 64, of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. She always attended those events with her father.  Here’s her obity from the Times Leader. Born in Sayre, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy (Mills) Dombroski.

Joyce was a graduate of Dallas High School, Class of 1975. She earned her degree in Office Science Technology at Luzerne County Community College. She had various jobs over her lifetime including New Accounts Clerk at Prudential Bache Securities, Sales Assistant at E.F. Hutton & Co., Secretary to the Business Manager and Warden at State Correctional Institution-Dallas and Stenographer/Secretary at The Pentagon.

Joyce was active in numerous community affairs. She was Treasurer of the Republican Women of Luzerne County and served on the Luzerne County Bureau of Elections. She was a fierce defender of life in all forms especially in her love for the unborn. She gave a voice to the voiceless in Luzerne County and she was proud to share her conservative pro-life political views. She enjoyed volunteering at the polls for every election and was a proud supporter of Women for Trump. She was a hard worker, leader and always stood up for what she believed was right.

She volunteered for over 20 years at the Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction and was dedicated to operating the children's sand art tent. She loved spending time with her family at the beach and looked forward to getting together with her New Jersey friends in Wildwood Crest every year. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and cooking traditional Polish foods for her family. Joyce was a member of Saint Therese's Church in Shavertown for over 40 years.

Surviving are her daughter, Jacquelyn Gebhardt, son, Robert Gebhardt Jr. and his wife Jocelyn, daughter, Brittany Gebhardt and grandson, Connor Miller; brothers, Ronald Dombroski and Thomas Dombroski Jr., sister, Susan Dombroski Irvin and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother and loyal friend. She was a light in this life who always put others ahead of herself and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandson more than anything. She was always spoiling her grand dogs, Carmen and Pedro, and loved her cat, Queenie, so much. She was one of a kind with a heart of gold and made this world a better place.

Joyce's family would like to thank the Geisinger Wyoming Valley ICU doctors, nurses and staff for their relentless compassion and kindness during one of the most difficult times in our life. Our beautiful mother's legacy and love of life will be carried on through her children and grandson.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. from St. Therese's Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown. The Rev. James Paisley will serve as officiant. Interment will be held in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Shavertown, following Mass. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

JOSEPH BURNS 

 

Former City Councilman of Wilkes-Barre and Mayoral candidate Joseph Burns passed away this weekend. Burns ran against Tom McLaughlin in the 80s. He was well known in town and was a cosponsor of  the 2019 celebration of the founding of Wilkes-Barre.
