MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…. but not surprised that the Pennsylvania Senate race between Oz and McCormick has led to a recount.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…. that the candidacy of Tom Williams, former WNEP TV anchor went up in flames. Williams seemed to be the candidate that would fit the traditional GOP mold. But that mold is changing, and it appears the ads painting the former anchor as a mainstream media reporter of fake news resonated with what is the base of the GOP in Luzerne County now. One wonders if Williams has any regrets about leaving WNEP for a shot at being a representative.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that Teddy Daniels carried both Luzerne and Lackawanna County in his failed bid to be Lt. Governor. Outside of here, Daniels came in third with just 12 percent of the vote. Governors and lieutenant governors don’t run on the same ticket in Pennsylvania, but he was so linked to front runner and eventual nominee Doug Mastriano that they were referred to as “running mates” in local reports.   “The swamp is still alive,” Daniels said in a Facebook live video. “It just goes to show that in the state of Pennsylvania, if you put $2 million behind somebody, you can literally elect a turd — and that’s what we got.” Ah Teddy, classy as always.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……but not really that in the Senate race, under Trump’s cheer leading the GOP is promoting the big lie about voter fraud about THEMSELVES! Trump is promoting vague and baseless claims of election fraud in that race, in an awkward replay of post-2020 messaging. This time, all the votes in question belong to Republicans.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that the current Senator Pat Toomey was in Washington doing his job. While the seekers to his throne were arguing about votes Toomey was voting for aid to Ukraine. Toomey declared, “Today’s additional aid will give the Ukrainian government and military support it desperately needs—via financial aid, weapons, and training—to continue defending its territory and ultimately win this war of Russian aggression. This assistance will also enable Ukraine to create a long-term strategy to rebuild and will provide immediate support to refugees fleeing Russia’s brutal invasion,” said Senator Toomey. “The package is not perfect, but it is essential that we enable Ukraine to win this war and teach Putin—and all other revisionist authoritarians watching—that such violent disregard for the sovereignty of their neighbors is a massive mistake.”

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that Doug Mastriano seemed to carry almost every county outside of the Northeast corridor where Lou Barletta held sway. The Mastriano message is scary when he says Pennsylvania needs to find God again to be great. For a military guy who fought battles over disagreements about religious sects, Dougie boy certainly has a curious definition of separation of church and state.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……. that there is a PAC lead by Democratic Governors in the country that is willing to spend 6 million dollars against Doug Mastriano in order to defat him. I think though they might be starting too early and should save their money for counter attacks as the GOP lie machine ramps up.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that turnout among Republicans exceeded over 37% which was the highest total in about 25 years. That was helped by such a contentious Senate race.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…. That Kathy Barnette who I picked to win when asked about her failings on her resume uses as her default position that the media should have vetted HER. Then she proceeds to talk about one incident with John Fetterman and a black man who he held at gunpoint before the police got there to arrest him. If she’s comparing that to George Floyd, she is totally off base.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…. that Doug Mastriano, Teddy Daniels and Kathy Barnette, all GOP candidates were in Washington on Insurrection day 2020. And they weren’t innocent bystanders either.
