13 QUESTIONS

Our 13 Questions logo.

1, Sorry about your Packers. Do you have a back up team for the Super Bowl?

Yes. The Jaguars. Doug Pederson is a former Packer QB (back up to Farve) and got a raw deal in Philly sol That’s who I’m rooting for.

2. Is it true that the election deniers of 2020 are still filing lawsuits claiming Trump really won?

Yep, they keep coming but the Supreme Court has even stopped hearing them. They recently rejected one the other day.

3. What are the races we need to watch locally in 2023?

Municipal races for city and council seats not to mention Luzerne County Council seats. We’ll keep you posted on those.

4.  Did you hear that Doug Mastriano is thinking of running for Bob Casey’s seat in 2024?

That would be a hoot. Maybe Trump can endorse him again.

5. Are you following the saga of Prince Harry in the press?

To a point. I saw him on “60 Minutes” and he seemed credible. It has to b tough to have your every move scrutinized. Plus the part about your family leaking stuff about you to the tabloids is just insane. It kind of flies in the face of the Corleone motto, “Never take sides against the family.”

6. Read any good books lately?

No but I did give the book Representative Katie Porter was reading during the Speakership fiasco to a friend as a Christmas present.

7. Who in your estimation had the best and worst coverage of the GOP Speaker coverage?

I thought CNN did it very well. I turned off MSNBC because Steve Kornacki was being such a pain in the ass.  I usually like him but it was a live feed with that microphone going, then the commentators and then him.   It was a real cluster. Sometimes too much is exactly that, too much.

8. What do you make of Josh Shapiro appointing a Republican as Secretary of State?

It shows Shapiro will appoint someone who he feels is best qualified for the job. He appointed a Philadelphia Republican no less who stood up to the Trump administration when they asked him to lie about the real results of the election. Shapiro was given a huge mandate and will be very impressive in his new role as Governor.

9. Do you call Spaghetti sauce, sauce or gravy?

I call sauce, sauce.  There is usually fat in gravy but none in toppings for pasta.

10.  Can you give us an example of why we needed to know Trump’s tax returns?

Well first off to see what a liar he is/was/will forever be. But Presidents should not have conflicts with foreign countries or financial institutions. Plus if they do, they should divest themselves. Trump didn’t and get his business accounts in place. The tax returns reveal that Trump had foreign bank accounts from 2015 to 2020. These include a bank account in China from 2015 to 2017, which reportedly is connected to Trump International Hotels Management business in China. The tax returns also showed that Trump had business dealings in Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Georgia, Grenada, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, South Korea, St. Maarten, St. Vincent, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

This is clearly a violation of the Emoluments Clause, which prohibits anyone holding a position of trust with the United States government from receiving any emoluments — i.e. profits and benefits — from any foreign state. This is what the founding fathers warned against this. As drafters of our Constitution were aware of the threat of foreign influence over U.S. So next time a right winger clutches the Constitution and says he or she is a Patriot, look them in the eye and tell them how Trump violated the very document they say they understand.  (CNN, Newsweek, LuLac)

11. Yonk, I fear your hatred of Trump is because you hate yourself. Here’s my case. Trump owns blue suits, so do you. Trump drinks Diet Coke exclusively, so do you. Trump snacks on chocolate. I understand from my City Hall spies you are an aficionado  of Hershey’s Dark Chocolate and Reese’s bars. Care to fess up?

I own 4 blue suits.  Drink no more than 2 Diet Cokes in a day.  I do enjoy Hershey’s decisively, especially those two you mentioned.

Holy shit!!!!!!!

12.   Today Show or Good Morning America?

Today Show.

13. What do you do on most weekends?

Laundry, food shopping and this time of year watching football. BUT this weekend I will be attending this event. Here goes:

NAACP, PEACE CENTER, UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH CHURCH HOST KING EVENT

Three local organizations have joined forces to present a program to commemorate the Martin Luther King Junior holiday. The NAACP Wilkes-Barre branch, The Peace & Justice Center as well as the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley will host a program on January 15th at 3pm at King’s College’s Sheehy Center. The speaker will be Dr. Offie C. Wortham, a Civil Rights activist who currently lives in Vermont. The event is part of the Sabol lecture series.

Offie C. Wortham, Ph.D., of Johnson, a retired college professor who last taught at Johnson State College and, prior to that, at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.  President at TransCultural Awareness Institute. Former Research assistant at IBM Research, Studied Psychology at Marist College, Studied AA in Liberal Arts at City College of San Francisco and Studied BA International Relations at San Francisco State University.

Wortham was part of the Civil Rights movement starting in the late 50s and can provide a unique insight regarding his association with many leaders of the movement that literally changed the face of America. Wortham, as a Civil Rights Activist marched with Doctor King and exchanged philosophies with Malcolm X.  During his youth, Offie was a pivotal figure in the opposition of discrimination in his own college town during his youth.

Come and celebrate a living legend that has participated in one of the greatest modern struggles! His latest endeavor is to bring communities together to promote dialogue and ideas among people of different ethnic groups. This formation of plain-speaking manifests itself as what he refers to as social educational classes dubbed Transcultural Awareness. Originally from Peekskill, New York he currently resides in Johnson, Vermont.

This compelling lecture is being held January 15th on the 94th birthday of Dr. King on the campus of King’s College, 133 N River Street in the Sheehy Student Center, Snyder Room, Third Floor. Admission is free and open to the public.

IN RESPONSE

I should have been more clear. In a basic tomato sauce, there is no fat. Tomato, garlic, and paste. The add ons you mentioned are surely fat filled. And delicious.
