CLARENCE THOMAS-A JUDICIAL THUG

Thomas, not laughing with us but at us! (Photo: The Guardian)

Lawyers that I’ve come in contact with have always adhered to a code of ethics. It is their calling cards for any serious business. With the exception of the judicial scandals of the early part of this century, Judges in LuLac land are respected and admired.

One has to ask the question about the Supreme Court. The Court has not been supreme lately. As a matter of fact their actions against women and the working class border on arrogance and prejudice against established law. I can respect if not agree with some decisions that a Trump appointed Justice might make because they after all told us what they were going to do.

But the case of money grubbing lying Clarence Thomas is bringing down an institution that has been deemed as too political.  His actions now put the court in criminal ethical jeopardy.

Thomas did not report the following:

In 2014, ProPublica uncovered, Crow bought three properties co-owned by Thomas, his mother and the family of his late brother — a two-bedroom house and two vacant lots nearby in Savannah, Georgia. Thomas personally signed the document noting the sale.

Thomas’s mother continued living in the house after Crow bought it, and neighbors have said that she still lives there. Documents show that soon after the sale, renovations to improve the carport, roof and fence began, appearing to total about $36,000.

Thomas has repeatedly used Crow’s private jet for travel and vacationed with him including on his super yacht and at Crow’s private resort in the Adirondacks, where guests stay for free, ProPublica reports, citing flight records, internal documents and interviews with Crow’s employees.

The justice has stayed at Crow’s resort “every summer for more than two decades,” according to ProPublica, and reportedly makes “regular use” of Crow’s private jet, including as recently as last year and for as short as a three-hour trip from Washington, D.C., to Connecticut in 2016.

Let's also talk about Crow's Nazi Hitler collection. Can an educated lawyer, a black man who knows of discrimination be pals with a guy who collects this shit? A Supreme Court Justice buddying up to a Hitler collector? Could there be a "WE LOVE 'DOLF TEE SHIRT  IN THE JUDGE'S CLOSET?

Over the last two decades, Justice Clarence Thomas reportedly failed to accurately report hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of income from a family holding company and claimed rents from a company that no longer exists, according to The Washington Post, citing state records and federal disclosures.

The high court justice’s financial disclosure reports claim between $50,000 and $100,000 of income from Ginger, Ltd., Partnership, a Nebraska real estate firm, that was dissolved in 2006. That’s the same year the assets and properties of the firm, founded in the 1980s by the family of his wife Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, were moved to a new company, Ginger Holdings, LLC.

The revelation comes as the Supreme Court justice is under intense scrutiny for his ethical and financial conduct, following reporting from ProPublica earlier this month that Mr. Thomas accepted lavish vacations from conservative Texas billionaire and Republican donor Harlan Crow. The outlet also reported that Mr. Crow bought a group of properties from Justice Thomas in Georgia, which the jurist failed to disclose, a likely violation of federal ethics laws requiring judges to report most real estate sales worth more than $1,000.

Thomas is a financial spoiled thug who needs to resign.

Compare his thievery with what happened to Judge Abe Fortas. Nominated by President Johnson to the Supreme Court in 1965, Fortas was confirmed by the Senate, and maintained a close working relationship with the president. As a Justice, Fortas wrote several notable majority opinions including Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District.

In 1968, Johnson tried to elevate Fortas to the position of chief justice of the Supreme Court, but that nomination faced a filibuster and was withdrawn. Fortas later resigned from the Court after a controversy involving his acceptance of $20,000 from financier Louis Wolfson while Wolfson was being investigated for insider trading. The Justice Department investigated Fortas at the behest of President Richard Nixon, who saw the idea of replacing Fortas as a chance to move the Court in a more conservative direction. Attorney General John N. Mitchell pressured Fortas into resigning. After retirement, Fortas returned to private practice, sometimes appearing before the justices with whom he had served.

Hysterical that Mitchell, a soon to be convicted felon and Nixon a soon to be deposed President passed Judgment on Fortas.

$20,000 bucks vs. millions of dollars?

Locally a four term Commissioner was run out of office by a soon to be criminal Commissioner for using county workers to help repairs on his aged mother’s property.

Wrong is wrong but the degree to which Thomas’ behavior is tolerated is a stain on the Supreme Court. Who would ever think that you’d have to school a Supreme court Justice on ethics in America? But that’s what you get when people put themselves above the law.

Thomas is a coward and a disgrace. But there's nary a peep from the investigate a Democratic ham sandwich right wing caucus when it comes to one of their own.
