PENNSYLVANIA RIOT SUPPORTER SCOTT PERRY GETS PLUMB COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT FOR NATIONAL SECURITY

Republican Congressman Scott Perry who was a leading member of January 6^th has been named to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

This committee was formed in 1977 to protect national security as well as sensitive information. Appointing this slug (who by the way is a veteran and has proven  himself to be a treasonous one) is akin to not only handing the keys of power to an inmate.

Remember irt was Kerry who was conspiring with Trump operatives to incite the riot. Perry , introduced Trump to environmental lawyer Jeffrey Clark. Trump considered installing Clark as attorney general because he was sympathetic to Trump’s election fraud claims.

Perry texted Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows days after that introduction.

‘Mark, you should call Jeff. I just got off the phone with him and he explained to me why the principal deputy won’t work, especially with the FBI. They will view it as not having the authority to enforce what needs to be done.’”

The plan failed when DOJ leadership threatened to resign if Trump followed through with it.

This guy is on a committee now to protect national security. He is still being investigated and his phone records are the proof he conspired to have his Lord and Savior  Trump take over the country in a coup.  (LuLac, WHYY)

 

THE CHRISTIANITY OF MIKE JOHNSON

Mike Johnson, the right wing Speaker of the House pulled a fast one on Democrats  in the House. They should have left him swinging in the wind when Marjorie Taylor Skank wanted to fire him.

Johnson is responsible for putting Scott Perry on ths important committee as well as the quack Doctor Ronny Jackson of Texas to the House Intelligence Committee. It was announced on the House floor Wednesday. Johnson, a hardline conservative from Louisiana who has aligned himself with Trump, was replacing spots on the committee that opened up after the resignations of Republican Reps. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin and Chris Stewart of Utah.

Committee spots have typically been given to lawmakers with backgrounds in national security and who have gained respect across the aisle. But the replacements with two close Trump allies comes as Johnson has signaled his willingness to use the full force of the House to aid Trump's bid to reclaim the Oval Office. It also hands the hard-right faction of the House two coveted spots on a committee that handles the nation's secrets and holds tremendous influence over the direction of foreign policy.

D-DAY @ 80

Today D-Day is observed. The youngest living veterans are in France to observe the day.  Think about this: By 1944 more than two million troops from more than 12 countries were in Britain preparing for the invasion.

On D-Day, Allied forces consisted primarily of US, British and Canadian troops but also included Australian, Belgian, Czech, Dutch, French, Greek, New Zealand, Norwegian, Rhodesian [present-day Zimbabwe] and Polish naval, air and ground support.

While America formed the biggest national contingent, the combined force of Commonwealth service personnel - mostly British and Canadian - was greater.

Of the 156,000 men who landed in France on 6 June, 73,000 were American, and 83,000 British or Canadian. The Commonwealth naval contingent was twice that of the Americans.

The First U.S. Army, accounting for the first twenty-four hours in Normandy, tabulated 1,465 killed, 1,928 missing, and 6,603 wounded. The after-action report of U.S. VII Corps (ending 1 July) showed 22,119 casualties including 2,811 killed, 5,665 missing, 79 prisoners, and 13,564 wounded, including paratroopers.

Canadian forces at Juno Beach sustained 946 casualties, of whom 335 were listed as killed.

Surprisingly, no British figures were published, but Cornelius Ryan cites estimates of 2,500 to 3,000 killed, wounded, and missing, including 650 from the Sixth Airborne Division.

German sources vary between four thousand and nine thousand D-Day casualties on 6 June—a range of 125 percent. Field Marshal Erwin Rommel’s report for all of June cited killed, wounded, and missing of some 250,000 men, including twenty-eight generals.

It struck me today that they saved Democracy while Donald Trump’s cult are trying to kill it.

U.S. REP. CARTWRIGHT STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S EXECUTIVE ORDER

Representative Matt Cartwright joined fellow members of the Democrats for Border Security Task Force in releasing the following statement in response to President Biden's executive order: 

"We commend President Biden for taking this Executive Action to bring ‘order to the border.’ This is an important step. Democrats for Border Security recognize that the President has taken this bold action because Congress has failed to act. Now, Republican leadership must finally allow the House to vote on the bipartisan Senate legislation proposed earlier this year.”  

The bipartisan Senate compromise legislation would both strengthen security at our borders and legislatively repair the outdated asylum system. The legislation was endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The Wall Street Journal, and the president of the Border Patrol Union. It was thwarted when former President Trump demanded that Republican Members of the House and Senate refuse to give President Biden “a win.”

In May, Cartwright and the Democratic Border Security Task Force called on President Biden to take executive action.

In the letter sent May 7th, the Members urged the President to use all the tools at his disposal, including executive action, to better address security at the Southern border, prohibit the flow of illicit fentanyl from entering the country, and allow for orderly legal immigration efforts.

“It is well past time for both parties to come together and agree on common sense, bipartisan immigration reforms,” wrote the Members. “It has become clear that the current situation remains untenable, but with Republicans playing politics on border security, it is time for your Administration to act.”

As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and Ranking Member of the Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee, Cartwright voted to increase funding for Customs and Border Protection in this year’s Homeland Security budget by more than $1 billion.

“This additional funding provides new resources to stop the flow of fentanyl across ports of entry, prioritizes the hiring of thousands of Border Patrol agents, increases overtime funding for agents, and funds improvements for border security technology,” said Cartwright, who voted with Republicans to fund $1.6 billion for border wall construction during the last Administration.

 

CASEY ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $28 MILLION FOR ABANDONED MINE REVITALIZATION IN PA

ONE-THIRD OF THE NATION’S ABANDONED MINE LAND IS IN PENNSYLVANIA, AFFECTING 43 OF PA’S 67 COUNTIES AND AS MANY AS 1.4 MILLION RESIDENTS

PENNSYLVANIA IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE MORE THAN $3 BILLION OVER THE NEXT 15 YEARS FROM THE INFRASTRUCTURE LAW TO CLEAN UP ABANDONED MINE LAND

Senator Bob Casey is announcing that Pennsylvania will receive $28.67 million from the Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program from the U.S. Department of the Interior. This funding will help further develop previously reclaimed abandoned mine land to make it viable for recreation, business, or energy projects. One-third of the Nation’s abandoned mine land (AML) is in Pennsylvania, with approximately 43 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties affected by abandoned coal mines.

“Too many Pennsylvania communities still face the environmental hazards of abandoned mine land — polluted waterways, property damage, and underground mine fire. Thanks to this funding, we can keep cleaning up this land, protecting our environment, and delivering a boost to Pennsylvania local economies with new, good-paying jobs,” said Senator Casey.  “I have always fought for the health and safety of Pennsylvania communities and I will continue to advocate for investments that ensure we can clean up legacy mining sites.

Senator Casey has been a strong advocate for AML cleanup. He has delivered a total of $488 million to reclaim abandoned mine land in Pennsylvania from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Casey secured $26.6 million  in May 2022 to revitalize AML through the AMLER Program.

 After hearing from Pennsylvania communities about the lack of flexibility to use IIJA AML funding to clean up water polluted by acid mine drainage (AMD), Senator Casey pushed Secretary of the Interior Deb Holland and introduced and passed the STREAM Act. The STEAM Act allows states more flexibility to use infrastructure law funding to clean up acid mine drainage, which pollutes Pennsylvania’s rivers and streams, and address other long-term impacts of abandoned mine land.

In addition to voting to pass the infrastructure law, in April 2021, Casey introduced legislation to extend AML cleanup funding and to provide a boost for coal reclamation projects that provide economic development and growth in communities impacted by the downturn in the coal industry. Senator Casey also fought to pass the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which included his provision to provide a tax credit for clean energy projects built in energy communities like those in Pennsylvania. A 2023 report shows that, since the passage of the IRA, energy communities are leading the Nation in new clean energy investment.

Senator Casey is also fighting for specific projects in PA coal communities including Clearfield County’s Mineral Basin solar project. In March 2024, Senator Casey delivered $900 million from the infrastructure law to build solar facilities on former mine lands in Clearfield County. This project is expected to produce enough energy to power 70,000 homes per year.

By quickly and conscientiously crafting this plan, we are showing residents of our Commonwealth and the nation that we are getting stuff done," said Governor Josh Shapiro.
