QUESTION: WHY “TERRORIST” OR PEDOPHILE?”
ON SIGNS?
The Citizens’ Voice recently had a front page story about two signs that were put up on the windows next store of the Luzerne County Democrats. The sins stated…..”If you ae a Democrat you are a terrorist”. The other one said if you are a Democrat, you are a pedophile. The two party chairs, Thomas Shubilla and Gene Ziemba both told the reporter Bob Kalinowki that they thought it was over the top, beyond the pale and bad form.
Let’s start with the two men as opposed to a West side resident who has similar signs on his property. The Democrats are no strangers to being called names. “Snowflakes”, “libtards” and “Marxists” and “Communists”. But those were generalizations. Shubilla and all Democrats and Independents are offended by them of course but know they are baseless claims from a fringe member who most likely has an intelligence, socialization and neighborhood popularity problem. Ziemba on the other hand has more worries than ever. Since 2016 Trump’s margin in the County have been diminishing. Oh the former pig ex President still has his devotees but that number is not as strong as once was. With this election being so close, it might not be a good idea to piss off Independents or Democrats who used to vote for Trump. Ziemba along with his side kick drug felon T.J. Fitzgerald have to live with what they’ve sown which is a MAGA crazy who according to the paper says “ Let them complain , the truth is coming out in regards to anyone seeing them.
His comment struck me. “….the truth is coming out”. When people make unconfirmed claims and give opinions bordering on hate speech I think two things.
1. If this accusation (which is free speech) was made about a private individual instead of a a generic entity, this guy would be in court.
2. The selected words, “terrorist” and pedophile” resonate because of its lack of evidence. Both are prosecutable offenses.
Therefore I must come to the conclusion that those words “terrorist” and pedophile” as well as the quote “the truth is coming out” must be very personal to the sign poster. I’ll never know, we may never know why but one has to wonder if this is a matter of ACCUSATION IS CONFESSION”.

MAGA NEWS THIS WEEK
Controller Collusion
It seems that failed Luzerne County Council candidate Greg Griffin may have let a wildcat out of the bag. It appears that Luzerne County Controller Walter Griffith is colluding with TJ Fitzgerald and his band of radical "Luzerne County Republicans" in an effort to undermine the use of county drop boxes. Given that Griffith also serves on the County Ethics Commission, this raises serious concerns about potential violations of ethics codes. If he's found to be interfering with elections, this could be a significant breach of trust and integrity in his role. The Citizens Voice this morning reported that Walter will be performing an audit on election expenses related to drop boxes. How can we trust the County Controller to make an unbiased report when he is working with radicals to rid the County of drop boxes? He has already been removed from the Controller’s position once for wiretap charges.
The Local Media Steps Up
I’d like to thank the local media for continuing to expose the misinformation and conspiracy theories pushed by the local MAGA cult members. Recently, The Citizens' Voice revealed the source of the vulgar signs I mentioned in previous newsletters. It turns out that Robert Bovolick, who has a lengthy criminal record including felonies, had these signs on several of his properties. Bovolick is reportedly, or was, romantically involved with Annie C. Howell—the Edwardsville woman arrested for storming the Capitol during the January 6th insurrection.
The Citizens' Voice also debunked some national liesabout federal aid to Hurricane Helene, which have been spreading locally on the Citizens Advisory of Pennsylvania’s Facebook page. This group, which acts as a local clearinghouse for conspiracy theories, has even promoted Marjorie Taylor Greene's wild claim about weather control being used to suppress voters in hurricane-hit states. The group has gone so far as to encourage people not to donate to the Red Cross, falsely accusing the organization of corruption.
In sister county news, The Scranton Times columnist Chris Kelly highlighted Lackawanna County bigot Bob Bolus twice this week. One story covered his ejection from an election board meeting, while the other documented him using his MAGA hate truck to block handicapped parking spaces, preventing people in need from accessing them.
Bad Actors
Finally, the Citizens Advisory of Pennsylvania, Moms for Liberty clone group continues to post outright lies and conspiracies about the integrity of drop box voting, in their ongoing effort to suppress voters in Luzerne County.
CRUCIAL WILKES BARRE POLLING PLACE CHANGED
WHAT’S IN BOB WOODWARD’S NEW BOOK? PRIVATE CALLS, RAGE, AND REGRETS OF TRUMP AND BIDEN.
The Christian Science Montor reports that In his new book, “War,” journalist Bob Woodward reports Donald Trump privately called Vladimir Putin as many as seven times since leaving office, and that Joe Biden’s anger at Benjamin Netanyahu is boiling in private, among other revelations. Donald Trump has had as many as seven private phone calls with Vladimir Putin since leaving office and secretly sent the Russian president COVID-19 test machines during the height of the pandemic, Bob Woodward reported in his new book, “War.”
The famed Watergate reporter also details President Joe Biden’s frustrations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s assortment of burner phones. The Associated Press obtained an early copy of the book, which is due out next week.
Mr. Trump denied the reporting, telling ABC News’ Jonathan Karl that Woodward is “a storyteller. A bad one. And he’s lost his marbles.”
Mr. Trump had previously spoken to Mr. Woodward for the journalist’s 2021 book, “Rage.” Mr. Trump later sued over it, claiming Mr. Woodward never had permission to publicly release recordings of their interviews for the book. The publisher and Mr. Woodward denied his allegations.
Here is more from the new book:
Mr. Trump has had multiple calls with Mr. Putin since his White House term ended.
Mr. Woodward reports that Mr. Trump asked an aide to leave his office at his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, so that the former president could have a private call with Mr. Putin in early 2024. The aide, whom Mr. Woodward doesn’t name, said there have been multiple calls between Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin since Mr. Trump left office, perhaps as many as seven, according to the book, though it doMr. Trump senior adviser and longtime aide Jason Miller told Mr. Woodward that he had not heard Mr. Trump was having calls with Mr. Putin and said, “I’d push back on that.” But Mr. Miller also said, according to the book, “I’m sure they’d know how to get in touch with each other.”
Steven Cheung, Mr. Trump’s communications director, said none of the stories in Mr. Woodward’s books are true. In a statement on Oct. 8, he called them “the work of a truly demented and deranged man who suffers from a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the reporting about the calls was “not true.”
Mr. Trump’s relationship with Mr. Putin has been scrutinized since his 2016 campaign for president, when he memorably called on Russia to find and make public missing emails deleted by Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent. “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” he said.
U.S. intelligence agencies later determined that Russia had meddled in the 2016 election to help Mr. Trump, though an investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller found no conspiracy between the Trump team and Russia. In 2018, Mr. Trump publicly questioned that finding following an in-person meeting with Mr. Putin in Helsinki.
Vance shows polish, Walz hits him on Jan. 6 in notably civil VP debate
In recent years, Mr. Trump has criticized U.S. support for Ukraine as it fights off Russia’s invasion. He has said Ukraine should have made concessions to Mr. Putin before Russia invaded in 2022. He also previously touted his good relationship with Mr. Putin and called the Russian leader “pretty smart” for invading Ukraine.
Mr. Trump sent COVID-19 test machines to Mr. Putin for his personal use
Mr. Woodward reports that Mr. Trump sent Mr. Putin COVID-19 test machines for his personal use as the virus began spreading in 2020.
Mr. Putin told Mr. Trump not to tell anyone because people would be mad at Mr. Trump over it, but Mr. Trump said he didn’t care if anyone knew, according to the book. Mr. Trump ended up agreeing not to tell anyone.
The book doesn’t specify when the machines were sent but describes it as being when the virus spread rapidly through Russia. It was previously reported by The Associated Press and other agencies that Mr. Trump’s administration in May 2020 sent ventilators and other equipment to several countries, including Russia.
“There were no secret shipments. The pandemic was starting back then,” Mr. Peskov said Oct. 9 via a messaging app. “Many countries were exchanging equipment. We sent ventilators. Testers came from America.”

Vice President Kamala Harris, in an Oct. 8 interview with radio host Howard Stern, accused Mr. Trump of giving the machines to a “murderous dictator” at a time when “everyone was scrambling” to get tests.
“This person who wants to be president again, who secretly is helping out an adversary while the American people are dying by the hundreds every day,” said Ms. Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate.
Mr. Biden highlighted the report during a stop in Pennsylvania on Oct. 8.
“You see what came out today?” Mr. Biden said at a fundraiser for Sen. Bob Casey. “So he calls his good friend Putin – not a joke – and makes sure he had the tests. He had the tests.”
Mr. Biden’s anger at Mr. Netanyahu has boiled over in private. The book also details Mr. Biden’s complicated relationship with Mr. Netanyahu as well as private moments when the president has been fed up with him over the Israel-Hamas war.
REP. CARTWRIGHT IN THE TOP 1% AT BRINGING BACK FUNDS FOR LOCAL POLICE
MAJOR FOCUS FOR FINAL STRETCH OF FISCAL YEAR 2025 APPROPRIATIONS REMAINS THE SAME: LAW ENFORCEMENT FUNDING
, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08), Ranking Member of the House Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that, of 309 House Members who have received Department of Justice COPS or Byrne or Community Project Funding (CPFs) over FY22, FY23, and FY24, he has brought the 4th highest dollar amount back to his congressional district, with projects totaling $12,072,000 across those 3 fiscal years.
“These programs are essential for equipping our law enforcement agencies with the technology and resources needed to keep our neighborhoods safe and for fostering strong partnerships between law enforcement officers and the people they protect,” said Ranking Member Cartwright. “I will continue to fight to see that COPS Technology and Equipment and Byrne JAG programs receive the robust funding they deserve in CJS appropriations measures -- in order to ensure these programs continue to serve our communities effectively.”
The FY 2025 House CJS Appropriations bill also contains both programmatic funds and Member CPFs for COPS and Byrne, with four Cartwright-requested Byrne JAG CPFs present in the measure totaling over $5 million. The bill awaits action by the House and Senate later this year.
Ranking Member Cartwright has consistently supported the COPS Technology and Equipment Program and Byrne JAG, two initiatives that directly assist with the safety and security of communities across the nation. The COPS Technology and Equipment Program funds grants to State, local, Tribal, territorial, and other entities to develop and acquire effective equipment, technologies, and interoperable communications that are critical in responding to and preventing crime. The Byrne JAG Program provides equally important funding for a range of program areas that improve public safety, including law enforcement, crime prevention, and drug treatment.
LAW ENFORCEMENT ENDORSES CASEY’S STOP FENTANYL AT THE BORDER ACT
THE STOP FENTANYL AT THE BORDER ACT WILL INCREASE STAFFING AND TECHNOLOGY TO DETECT AND STOP THE FLOW OF FENTANYL COMING ACROSS THE BORDER
BILL HAS NOW BEEN ENDORSED BY THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POLICE ORGANIZATIONS, AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT ORGANIZATIONS

Senator Bob Casey announced growing support from law enforcement organizations for his Stop Fentanyl at the Border Act, which would reduce the flow of fentanyl by providing much-needed resources to secure the southwest border. The bill, which would increase staffing capacity and technology to detect illicit drugs and other contraband being smuggled through ports of entry along the border, has now been endorsed by four major police organizations: the Fraternal Order of Police, the National Association of Police Organizations, Major County Sheriffs of America, and the National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition. The bill is also now backed by the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) employees.
“Pennsylvania law enforcement can’t tackle the fentanyl crisis when so much of the fentanyl devastating our families and communities is being smuggled across our southwest border,” said Senator Casey. “This bill will help provide the hardworking law enforcement officers at the border with the resources, technology, and support they need to stop the flow of fentanyl into Pennsylvania communities. I’m proud to have law enforcement support and I won’t stop until we’ve passed this commonsense legislation.”
“Our law enforcement members are the first line of defense against the scourge of fentanyl that comes across the American border each day,” said Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police. “Now more than ever, our country must invest in methods to stem the flow of fentanyl into our communities. This legislation will support our members by giving them the tools they need to support border operations and drug interdiction efforts.”
“Fentanyl is now the drug most associated with overdoses in the United States,” said Bill Johnson, the Executive Director of the National Association of Police Organizations. “This deadly poison is being mixed with other illicit drugs, hidden in counterfeit drugs, and being peddled at alarmingly high rates to our nation’s youth. The Stop Fentanyl at the Border Act provides much needed support, resources, and funding to the southwest border to help federal, state, and local law enforcement fight the trafficking of fentanyl and other illicit drugs into the country. Law enforcement at all levels of government have long been asking for these resources to support their efforts to prevent and detect fentanyl coming into this country and our communities. NAPO stands with Senator Casey in support of this important bill.”
“The National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition appreciates Senator Casey for his work on the Stop Fentanyl at the Border Act. While progress has been made, the alarmingly high numbers of drug poisoning deaths, especially from fentanyl, shows that more needs to be done. This legislation would bring a surge of resources, including personnel, funding, and tools, to support border operations and drug interdiction efforts,” said Eric Brown, President of the National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition.
The Stop Fentanyl at the Border Act would enable CBP to hire more officers and border patrol agents to increase capacity to stop illicit smuggling over the border. The bill also provides funding to purchase Non-Intrusive Inspection systems, which scan vehicles and cargo at the border to provide detailed images of their interiors, which leads to the detection of fentanyl and other illicit drugs. Additionally, the bill would create an inspection program to increase seizure of firearms, which Mexican cartels frequently purchase in the United States and smuggle into Mexico to support their fentanyl production operations and other violent criminal enterprises.
Senator Casey has been a leader in the Senate on efforts to prevent the spread of fentanyl into the United States. He has traveled around Pennsylvania meeting with law enforcement and families of victims of fentanyl overdoses as he pushed for passage of the FEND Off Fentanyl Act. In July, Senator Casey applauded the Senate passage of the Preventing the Financing of Illegal Synthetic Drugs Act, a bill that will direct the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate how transnational criminal organizations finance synthetic drug trafficking and help the federal government target them more effectively. In August, Casey led his colleagues in introducing the bipartisan Fighting Illicit Goods, Helping Trustworthy Importers, and Netting Gains (FIGHTING) for America Act to help CBP prevent fentanyl from entering the country undetected. In September, Casey introduced the Interdiction of Fentanyl at Federal Prisons Act, which would protect prison officers, staff, and inmates from fentanyl and other illicit substances entering the Federal Prison System through inmate ma
GOV. JOSH SHAPIRO ON WHY HARRIS IS ON TRACK TO BEAT TRUMP
GOVERNOR SHAPIRO TALKS ABOUT KAMALA HARRIS' CHANCES OF WINNING PENNSYLVANIA AND RESPONDS TO TRUMP'S ATTACKS ON HAITIANS IN THE STATE, WHICH SHAPIRO CALLS "UTTER BULLSHIT."
YOU GO JOSH!!!!!!!
This is from an excerpt with Greg Sargant’s Podcast from The Daily Beast.
Sargent: Well, there’s no question that she’s really contesting parts of the state that are unfriendly to Democrats. I want to get to that in a minute. First, I want to get your response to what Donald Trump did this week. He held a rally in Pennsylvania. He attacked the population of Haitians that have moved to Charleroi in the southwestern part of the state. He said towns and villages across PA are “inundated” and that this represents a war on workers by Kamala Harris. I wanted to give you a chance to set the record straight on all those claims.
Shapiro: Well, let me make a few points. First, it’s complete and utter bullshit. He’s been called out on it by the town manager. He’s been called out on it by the Republican state senator who represents, quite honorably, that community. He’s been called out on it by local officials and others who have said what Donald Trump is saying is absolutely false. By the way, what Dave McCormick, the guy running for Senate against Bob Casey, has said about it is absolutely false. Charleroi is a wonderful community in Washington County, Pennsylvania, a community that has seen migrants contribute to their economy, contribute to their community. You’ve heard that from residents in the area. Charleroi is also a community that’s facing serious economic challenges. Instead of actually offering something that’s going to help them address their economic challenges, Donald Trump goes and shits on the community. It’s not only disrespectful, it’s really dangerous.
When Donald Trump creates a kind of “others” in our community, he puts people at risk and he makes us all less safe. That is really, really dangerous and destructive. I’ll tell you the other thing. They do have, as I said a moment ago, serious economic challenges with plant closures and other things. As governor, I’m working with the community to help lift them up, to help address that. I’d love to have elected officials and wannabe elected officials like Donald Trump actually do something constructive that helps the community instead of tearing them down.
