WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

Our “Write on Wednesday” logo

This week we repeated a letter from a local union official asking Congressman Rob Bresnehan to stand with federal workers. The Congressman has now had two events where he met with union officials. It seems like he has ties to labor and this letter as well as many community union members hope that translates into support of federal workers.

UNION HEAD ASKS FOR SUPPORT

We would like to know if you stand with us, your constituents in PA-8, in the fight against these executive orders that threaten our jobs and benefits, effectively undermining our master agreements (collective bargaining agreements).

We are law enforcement officers, nurses, doctors, teachers, engineers, mail carriers, and countless other professionals within the Federal Government.

As federal employees, we are responsible for keeping our communities safe from the most dangerous inmates in America, caring for our veterans, building equipment for the armed forces, and providing other essential services for this great country.

It’s time to either stand with us or stand aside. We represent your district, and that’s how you were elected. Supporting us may challenge the status quo, but we are not bureaucrats; we are public servants who took these jobs to continue serving our country, whether after military service or while currently serving in these agencies.

If it weren’t for the dedicated Americans in our communities, you would not have been elected. Your district sought change, and they achieved it. Now, we ask you to support that change and give your constituents what they deserve.

What we deserve is hometown representation, which means showing up and saying “No” to cuts in our benefits, retirement, and, most importantly, saying “No” to the March massacre of our bargaining rights and agreements.

It’s important to note, Congressman, that these problems can be resolved with bipartisan solutions on the Hill through legislation, not by executive orders. You have many federal workers in your district, and we need your support now more than ever to help us combat these attacks.

At this point, we feel like we are only here to take a photo and be sidelined on all of our issues. We need you with us — please do the right thing, Rob.
