HERO

The recent death of 1LT Jeffrey Deprimo of Pittston stirred many emotions in this area. Here is a letter from a good friend and loyal LuLac reader:
As I watched Wednesday's funeral services for 1LT Jeffery Deprimo, I had the privilege of seeing a fallen comrade's final tribute. I commend all the servicemen and women who participated. They conducted themselves with both pride and compassion and upheld the finest traditions of the armed services.
I commend the honor guards, particularly the Patriot motorcycle group, The pallbearers, firing detail, bugler and general officers who presented The American Flags and distinguished awards to his family members. I also commend the police, fire and emergency personnel who paid their respects in a most fitting manner as well. I extend my deepest appreciation and most sincere condolences to the family of 1LT Deprimo, for allowing the military and veterans organization to give a fallen comrade his well deserved final tribute. As Chaplain Etter so eloquently said in his thoughtful and moving eulogy, in the spirit of "never leaving a fallen comrade behind", the entire Greater Pittston community brought 1LT Deprimo home and honored him in the manner befitting the sacrifice he made for us all. I am so proud to have been a prior member of the Army National Guard in West Pittston. The young men and women of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard make me proud to be an American and I commend them on a job well done. God bless them all.

SECRET SQUIRRELS

You have to love the clandestine trail Campaign 2008 took. Like two lovers (?) meeting after dark, Senators Clinton and Obama met at a secure location brokered by a friend. Hell, it was even at a friend’s house. Being familiar with all the nuances of philandering in a past life, I had to chuckle at the way Obama eluded the national press (leaving a sexy but sputtering Candy Kroley parsing words like Bill Clinton: “well it was a house, just not Senator Clinton’s house!”) and imaging Hillary waiting in the drawing room for her beau. Host Dianne Feinstein offered water (LBJ and Truman must be rolling over in their graves, whatever happen to bourbon and branch water???) as she discreetly went upstairs to let “the kids” have the parlor. When it was over, “Mom” Feinstein came down the steps after the assignation. Afterwards, like a true gentleman and lady, nary a word was said.

CHUCKIE

One of our posters has tipped us off that Chuckie Costanzo, former vendor the GOP Commissioners regime is out on bail for threatening witnesses. This case has all the potential to put a light on the matters of financial interest in Lackawanna County government from 2003 to 2007. In addition to accusations that he extorted $300,000 from a Clarks Summit company, Costanzo is accused of stealing more than $407,000 from the workers’ compensation fund by paying himself more than his contract allowed. Investigators relied in part on cooperation from 36-year-old Marc Boriosi to make their case against Mr. Costanzo. Mr. Boriosi told investigators that Mr. Costanzo paid his firm, Endless Mountains Inc., more than $313,000 between April 2004 and September 2007 for investigating workers’ compensation claims. He also said he did not have an investigator’s license and did almost nothing to earn the money. In all, Mr. Costanzo was indicted in two separate cases for charges including conspiracy, fraud, embezzlement, money laundering and filing false tax returns. In February, Mr. Boriosi pleaded guilty to conspiracy and tax evasion. He might testify at Mr. Costanzo’s trial, slated to begin June 16. Over the Memorial Day weekend, Boriosi said he was eating breakfast with his parents when Costanzo threatened him. Not too bright in front of witnesses but this is not the first time Costanzo has flew off the handle in public. Last year The Times Tribnue ran a video of Chuckie outside a Washo-O’Brien rally.

    A POEM

    Forty years since Bobby died,
Every one of us stood and cried.
When will we ever regain that past,
For peace and prosperty to last.

Great letter about Jeff DePrimo. He is indicative of the type of men and women we are losing because to fight for freedom. Maybe if we weren;t in Iraq, there'd be more peope to fighht the real enemy in the Afghans.

    MY POEM

4 decades have come to pass,
You might think I'm an ass,
But poor Ethel, Corbett and good old Dave,
Are the only ones who care that Bobby's in a grave!

What suddenly brought the LuLac one verse poets out of the woodwork? The need sometimes occurs
to try and make things rhyme, I understand, but the one about Bobbys grave was obviously written by a local moron with no sense of history or poetry.

Dave, Dave, Dave, an intervention here. With all respect to heritage, history and the Kennedys, we get it. Bobby died. Can we move on?

Those not interested in history read no further. Attention should be called to the unbelieveable work of Jim McKay during the Munich Olympics. It was all going down before his eyes and in turn the eyes of the world via a sports show! And when he annopunced the worst, he did it with incredible dignity. "There all gone", he said.
And he had the grace to just be quiet. Jim McKay died today.

I'll tell you what Dave, you have a terrific memory. I must be in the 1st stages of alizimers, since the only memory I can link to the Herb Albert song was visiting my cousin in Bridgeport, CT, and sleeping outside and stealing watermelons from the local Stop & Shop....
