LULAC POLL RESULTS
In our first snapshot poll of the 2012 Presidential race match up between President Obama and Mitt Romney, LuLac has decided to do a bi monthly look at the race. . We polled only LuLac readers who could only vote once. Here are the results of the first poll:Romney 47.1%
Obama 47.1%
Someone else 4.3%.
No one 0%
Not sure 1.4%
This poll kind of mirrors the national feeling about this Presidential race. What is surprising to me though is that less than 2% are not sure. National polls show about 5% of people who are unsure. (Which I guess is a margin of error). This is the first look at what LuLac readers think about the big election. Keep in mind that this is an unscientific poll with unsolicited participants. Other than LuLac, no one was directly contacted.
BARLETTA’S VOTE
Bill O’Boyle of the Times Leader reported that US. Rep. Lou Barletta, voted for the $606 billion defense bill that could call for cuts at the Tobyhanna Army Depot because he said he was misinformed. Barletta said Monday he was given inaccurate information based on what he called “an accounting error.” Barletta said he was told of a military surplus that would not hurt the Depot. “When I voted for the bill, I did so with the understanding that funding for the Tobyhanna Army Depot was not being compromised,” Barletta said. “I, along with the other 325 members of Congress who voted in favor of the bill, both Republicans and Democrats, believed the information provided to us was accurate.” Okay, a few things about this issue. It appears that the freshmen Barletta along with Tom Marino took their marching orders from the House Leadership. No one in their right political mind from an economically depressed region would vote no on any vote having to do with an entity that employs thousands of people. I can’t imagine the staffs of Chris Carney, Paul Kanjorski or Don Sherwood having the nuances of this bill fall through the cracks. And the explanation Barletta gave, that it was an accounting error is going to cause him trouble in this election. Even if it was an accounting error, I wouldn’t say that. I’d blame someone but not the nebulous phrase, “accounting error”. What is even more interesting politically is that this vote has been transformed from a matter of procedure to a ready made issue for Barletta challenger Gene Stilp. It gives the Wilkes Barre native something to attack Barletta with, something to deride him with and might get him some money to mount a credible race in the general. Plus this mistake elevates Stilp among casual voters from a one trick pony candidate (the pink pig guy) to a guy that has the perfect opening of attack that he lacked. My sources tell me that Tobyhanna is always on the ropes and if not for the clout of the Senators from the state, (most notably Specter and Casey (and before Casey Santorum) Tobyhanna would have been long gone.THE VEEP AND WIKIPEDIA
Wikipedia has become a major source of information for most Americans. Gone are the encyclopedias and history, forget about it. The popularity of a potential Vice President can be gaged by the number of content changes on their pages. A few days before Sarah Palin’s pick, there were about 100 changes made on her page. The possible Vice Presidential candidates had the following changes on their pages:
Chris Christie 2
Tim Pawlenty 4
Paul Ryan 7
Marco Rubio 40
Rob Portman 112.
Usually the number of changes made on the person’s page means they are the person first among equals. We shall see.
MOVE ON MOVEMENT
Our friend Wil Toole forwarded this to me from MoverOn.org. This week Move On members are going to be passing out over 80,000 pink slips to kick off a anti Mitt Romney ad campaign. We may not know what's hiding in Mitt Romney's tax records, but now we know what's hiding in Mitt's tax plan: tax breaks for American companies that outsource jobs, which could create 800,000 jobs overseas and pink slips at home.1 So to expose the real impact of Mitt's outsourcing plan, MoveOn members are hitting the streets next Thursday to hand out 800,000 pink slips nationwide. We're also releasing a scathing new ad hitting Mitt for being outsourcer-in-chief, and our grassroots muscle will make sure the message reaches millions more swing voters than it otherwise would. MoveOn members are gathering at shopping malls, post offices, coffee shops, movie theaters, and other high-traffic areas, holding signs and passing out Mitt's pink slips to draw the attention of voters and media. Maybe the Young Democrats can latch onto this idea and participate with the rest of the national crowd on Thursday Aug 16th. It would be great to see the local GOP seeing red over all this pink.AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

Once more Dave you capture the true essence of that year 1967 with Emershaw's comments. And I'd be interested to see the movement, if any in your future polls on the President's race.
You tell me because I'll be damned if I can figure it out. This is a senior citizen area and with the Republican Congress voting to kill Medicare as we know it and replacin it with a voucher and their ongoing desire to privitize Social Security so their investment banker buddies can get their hands on the SS fund, you tell me how 47.1% of your voting readers could even be thinking about voting for Romney? I have said time and again how smart the Republicans are that they can can working America to vote against their own best interests. As you pointed out in your post, his plan is to give tax breaks to companies that outsource jobs to other countries. Mitt Romney himself was a pioneer of outsourcing jobs when he was earning millions by killing American companies as the head of his private company Bain. Are people brain dead or just plain stupid?
Let's stay awake on this. Lou Barletta voted twice for the Paul Ryan budget which kills Medicare as we know it. It will be replaced by a voucher and when the coucher is used up, our medical costs will be on us...... talk about death panels! Remember, he voted for this buget last year and again this year. Remember how Lou swore upside down that he would never dump SS or Medicare? Liar, liar, pants on fire! Looks like the pink pig is going to Washington. Oh, and don't forget how Barletta as candidate Barletta wanted all those debates with Kanjorski? Lets see what he does now when he is on the hot seat. If there is evenone debate, it will be one more than I think he will give in to. To quote Nancy Reagan, Just say no to Lou Barletta.
5:55 AM: I agree you with 100%. This area is the most convoluted place I have ever lived in. I was a military brat and lived all over the world. I'm here because my wife is the last surviving child of her aging mother. In all my life, I have never seen a more cynical, poor me attitude of the residents here. But then when you think they'd be the most radical and want to get out of the poor house, they idolize guys like Reagan, Gingrich, W. Bush and now Romney. The guys you admire and want to have a beer with are the guys who are laughing at you when they return to their real world and the country clubs. Get a clue people: start voting for your own interests! One more point, in 2010, you trade in a guy for Congress who was regarded as a world wide expert on the economy, he was on CNBC every few days for a guy who never got his college degree and passed a law on immigration. If there was a Barletta around in 1900, YOU GUYS WOULDN'T BE HERE!!!! You'd still be in Italy, Poland and wherever the hell else you came from.
Anyone who votes to kill medicare and social security will have my vote. I am so sick of carrying folks with one foot in a grave and the other on a banana peel.
Barletta's days are numbered thankfully!

AND PEOPLE SAY I'M A MEAN SON OF A......................
I agree there is nothing wrong with SS and anyone seeking to change it in any way is certainly someone who should never be taken seriously and never in any circumstances be listened to ....ever SS is just fine and to prove it all you have to do is read the annual trusties 2012 report ....* GRIN *
