1. The elephant in the room. The Trump sentencing, thoughts?
Well, it was coming, he knew it was coming. What it did was mark him as a felony. Paperwork errors or not, HE BROKE THE LAW. That is the mantra used against immigrant children crossing the border. SHE BROKE THE LAW. Funny, MAGAs use that all the time for the purpose of their selective arguments. The Chair of the Luzerne County GOP kept saying that to me about immigration, no ifs, ands or buts, THEY BROKE THE LAW. The bottom line here is that he was convicted by a jury of his peers. They were not New Yorkers, they were United States citizens. Was it a crime that endangered people? No. But by a law existing TODAY, it was a crime.
Right now we have on line betting. TV ads for betting. Former Attorney General Ernie Preate served jail time for a joker poker scandal. At that time, it was a crime. Trump violated laws on the books. He is a felon. It can be overturned. But until the day he dies, Trump will be the first EVER President investigated, charged, tried and convicted as a felon. All the whining and bitching will not change any of that.
If a MAGA tells you how unfair it all is, reply with these four words; HE BROKE THE LAW.
2. Joe Biden gave a wonderful eulogy for President Carter. Were you holding your breath when he was speaking?
Absolutely not. He was great. He spoke from the heart, was cogent and outdid anyone else on that day. I can’t imagine Trump doing that ever in his life.
3. Are you going to be involved in local elections this year?
The two big races in Luzerne will of course be the lone Judicial race. Plus MAGA man Walter Griffith will be running again for Controller. It will be interesting to say the least.
4. How was your Christmas and New Year’s?
Never had a bad Christmas. New Year’s was good but not my favorite holiday since I dread a new year. Happy to be living in it but you never know what’s going to hit you in the unforeseen future.
5. On the Carter funeral, what did you think of the addition of Gerald Ford’s and Walter Mondale’s son?
Only Carter would think of that. He beat Ford (not by a lot) but they remained friends for years. He also had a very good relationship with Walter Mondale making the office of Vice President more accessible to the West Wing. Plus, he saved Mondale’s campaign for President in 1984 by endorsing him in the southern states to stop the Gary Hart momentum.
6. Do you think J.D. Vance will have a role in the new administration.
Not sure. He certainly hasn’t been front and center on any news regarding the Cabinet.
7. Your Packers! Thoughts?
8. What did you think of the Supreme Court decision that went against Trump regarding the New York case?
I think John Roberts and Amy Cohen Barrett want to be on the right side f history unlike the four horsemen asses of Alito, Thomas, Gorsich and Cavanaugh.
9. Are you a viewer of Morning TV news?
No, but I do make sure that I DVR “Morning Joe” to see what might have taken place via drama.
10. What’s the story of the red coat?
I believe that Christmas should not start before Black Friday and not end until after the Epiphany. Thus I wear the red coat during that time.
11, What did
you think of the show 1923?
Too many gratuitous sex and violence scenes. People screwed each other and beat the shit out of each other 100 years ago. WE GET IT!
11. Tell us about the King Day celebrations this year that you are involved in.
12. Biggest pet peeves?
Snow. You walk into a restaurant, the woman is dressed to the nines, the guy is in a backwards baseball cap and a wife beater. Negative people who bitch all the time.
13. In your estimation did Biden make any mistakes?
Hell yeah.
A. Picking Garland, an ex Judge for AG, not a red ass prosecutor. There would be no Trump today if he acted sooner than 2023.
B. Not getting tougher on the border.
C. Not caving in to the people who pushed him out of the race. He had time to recover.
D. Not debating Trump. Joe faltered because of a cold, Trump LIED his ass off. No reward, very deadly risk.
