OREO FOOD NEWS

When I was a kid there was only one Oreo cookie. That was it! Now we are inundated with seasonal products that are like the perfect dinner guest, they don’t hang around too long but add a unique zest to the conversation at the dinner table.

Oreo is giving Thanksgiving a cookie-sized makeover — and yes, that includes turkey. The brand has unveiled six limited-edition flavors inspired by a full Thanksgiving dinner, transforming the holiday’s most iconic dishes into snackable bites. Keep reading to discover which flavors made the cut, how this collection is being sold, and what snackers think of this delightfully unusual cookie feast.

Oreo transforms Thanksgiving favorites into six fudge-covered cookies

Who needs hours in the kitchen when Oreo has turned the entire Thanksgiving dinner into dessert? The iconic cookie brand is taking holiday snacking to a new level with its Thanksgiving Dinner Inspired Cookies. This limited-edition lineup transforms classic holiday dishes into bite-sized, fudge-coated treats.

Unveiled on October 29, this inventive collection reimagines the flavors of the season, featuring six distinct varieties: Turkey & Gravy, Sweet Potato, Creamed Corn, Apple Caramel Pie, Pumpkin Pie, and Cranberry Sauce. Each cookie sandwich is coated in a layer of fudge infused with its signature flavor, blending the sweet and savory in true Oreo fashion.

Creamed Corn and Turkey & Gravy? A travesty. I mean why waste the calories and your palate by not having the real thing. I can see if we were astronauts but nah.

I know Mrs. FB would try the Sweet Potato and I think the Cranberry en-robed by chocolate would do me no harm but  that’s all I would I would try. (Yahoo, LuLac)

WHO DOESN’T LOVE STUFFING

Then there are the turkey hoagies. Subway has tried to copy WaWa’s turkey dinner subs which aren’t half bad. But there was a rumor (most likely started by a guy named Jared) that they were going full turkey, chicken and duck.

Don’t panic. Subway isn’t actually making a turducken sandwich. What they’re doing is far less adventurous and perhaps a little weirder.

This week, Subway announced that it’s set to release a trio of special edition menu items modeled after the traditional Thanksgiving sandwich. The new subs, dubbed the Festive Feast Collection, are set to debut on Nov. 13.

Each sandwich is topped with Monterey cheddar cheese, spinach, red onions and mayo. They’ll also include new stuffing and cranberry sauce toppings.

The three subs set to hit the menu are:

Festive Chicken with rotisserie-style chicken

Festive Turkey with roasted turkey

TurHamKen with turkey, black forest ham and chicken

In its announcement, Subway described the TurHamKen as its “spin on the Turducken.” This spin, of course, removes the most novel of the three types of poultry in a turducken and substitutes ham.

As a result, the biggest additions to the menu for the “Festive Feast Collection” are the new cranberry sauce and stuffing.

Subway says their stuffing features a “blend of parsley, rosemary, sage, breadcrumbs and broth.”

As for the cranberry sauce, there’s no indication of whether it’s homemade or comes from a can. All we know is that the sandwich chain says it’s “sweet and tart.”

The new stuffing and cranberry sauce options aren’t limited to just the new subs. Customers can add cranberry sauce or stuffing to it.

I love the Subway Tuna Sub but will stick with an annual WaWa turkey to get me to the 28th of this month

BEST STUFFING EVER

I’ve had a lot of stuffing in my years on this earth. My aunts on my mom’s sides made  a stuffing that was very thin. It almost had the consistency of granulated sugar held together by fat. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but was well different.

My mom’s stuffing was basic and had very large pierces of breads that were soaked and actually formed a type of square pie. It was convenient to parcel out in squares. Not sure what held it together but it was good.

I dated a Jewish woman whose  mom made the stuffing with tale challah bread, rye bread, spinach, oil, stock, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper and oysters. A lot of oysters. Her dad who I shared the same birthday with had many oysters on our place with just a little stuffing.Yep, it was oyster heaven.

The best stuffing I had  is my sister in law’s. To me it is a perfect blend and screams holiday. . Here’s her recipe:

A.J.’s STUFFING

You use a pound of sausage to 1 bag of stuffing.

Use Arnold's or Pepperidge Farms' stuffing corn bread crumbs, celery, garlic, onions, sage, thyme, and pepper along with apple, cranberry and craisins. Those are the ingredients.

Sautee the garlic, celery,  and onions. Then cook the sausage loosely adding the drippings to the corn bread.

Use the chicken broth to make the consistency you want, If you use one bag of stuffing, add one cup each  of the aromatics that were sautéed in a stock of butter. That’s your thyme sage and pepper to taste.

Add those apples, cranberries and craisuns last and mix very well.

Take my word, this is the most delicious stuffing you will ever taste.
