WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

Our “Write On Wednesday” logo

This week we take a look at a post from Facebook about a Dan Mueser Town Hall. Now these aren’t regular town halls, these are open to the public. Meuser who Has been in a safe district has been campaigning since the start of the Trump administration earlier this year. Meuser seems to be between a rock and a hard place. As a true believer he can’t stray from the Trrump agenda by those beliefs might collide with the beliefs of people in his district.

This post is an insight into how he conducts meetings and how it seems even with invited guests, he might see problems in ’26.

INSIDE A MEUSER PUBLIC MEETING

I attended a private RSVP Town Hall Friday with Congressman Dan Meuser (R)(PA-09)in Pottsville that was shared with me from Jenn Brothers for Congress. For once, he had a variety of constituents from all parties. The common denominator: none of them were happy with his leadership during his time in office. Some were upset by his policy; others were upset by his character and integrity.

During the town hall:

He lied and shifted blame. He got called out by a Republican doctor and a democratic government worker for false statistics. He responded by ignoring the speaker, blaming the Democratic party, raising his voice at constituents, and cutting them off mid-question. 🙉

He dismissed advice. A veteran informed him that flag code was not being followed properly for the display for the event. The United States flag was placed on the wrong side of the speaker. Seeming to not understand, Meuser said, "Yes, you're right" then ignored the request to fix it.🙈

Barely anyone there got to speak. Maybe 10-15 people out of the 50 that they allowed to RSVP. Tensions were high in the room as people were cut off and rushed through questions without a proper answer. 🙊

Meuser tried to push several false statements in response to questions that his constituents asked, thinking that he could pull the wool over people's eyes. 🙅

He loudly trumpeted that 35 percent of immigrants are women and children in boats being forced to traffic Fentanyl for the cartels. He claimed that when they get close to the United States shoreline, they chuck their kids into the ocean as a distraction for the authorites. The Republican doctor in the front firmly stated that most Fentanyl that enters the United States illegally comes from China and India. A constituent who had lost his son to Fentanyl called him out on the fact that the bulk of what comes across the Mexican Border is via car through documented citizens. 💉

Meuser claimed he wants a smaller government with less involvement in citizens lives, and then stated shortly after that the Republican Party were going to attempt to pass legislation to use tax dollars to open citizens medical savings accounts managed by the government (so not preventing big pharma corporate price gouging, just finding ways to funnel more of your money to them). He said he didn't think he had ever taken a dollar for his campaign in corporate PAC money from the pharmaceutical industry, but his FEC reports show as follows: 💰

💊 2022 he took $42,344 in funding from Pharmaceuticals/Health Products.

💊 2020 Cycle: Roughly $18,500 from Pharmaceuticals/Health Products PACs.

💊 2018 Cycle: Over $69,000 from the Pharmaceutical/health industry overall.

When confronted about the violations of the constitution, he said that approved congressional laws had precedent over the constitution. Constituents wanted to know why he wouldn't confront Trump's violations of the law, Meuser responded that Congress was more like a board of directors to a CEO than a check-and-balance. ⚖️

Meuser said he has friends in Congress that are Democrats, but then proceeded to blame the Democrats more than a dozen times for the administration's shortfalls, referenced Biden and Obama more than a dozen times and even brought up Clinton. 🗣️

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 though was when he stated that 35 percent of SNAP is waste, fraud and abuse. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, a former private investigator and one of the current Democratic primary candidates for district PA-09, challenged Meuser's information. She pointed out that the USDA website that is under the current Trump Administration's direction publicly states 2 percent of SNAP expenses are fraudulent. She then referenced her own experience working to cite most of the 2 percent of fraud cases that occur are from businesses and corporations that overcharge SNAP accounts. 📈

I was incredibly impressed with Jenn's ability to debate Meuser without backing down. She knew he was spreading lies, and she shut him right down with facts, experience and confidence. 🧑🏫

Dan Meuser got elected on false information, fear and promises that he broke. We don't need him in office for another term. Eventually, whoever wins the primary is going to have to go toe-to-toe with Congressman Dan Meuser in the main election. Jenn Brothers has proven that 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔. She is not afraid to walk into Meuser's own events and prevent him from manipulating concerned citizens into losing trust in the systems that work and protect the most vulnerable in our society.
