This week we invite an old friend , reader of  LuLac, past contributor and TV sidekick Dr. Joe Leonardi to get his take  on the upcoming midterm election. Trump who has run off normal thinking Republicans like Dr. Joe seems to be on a kami kazi mission to destroy the country, himself and his party, not necessarily  in that order.  According to Dr. Joe, what may happen to the pig Peter Pan President in lieu of the election 13 days from now.

 

 

IN NOVEMBER ― TRUMP 

 

HAS MUCH TO LOSE

Most, hell all, political watchers understand that if the republicans win the house and senate (and Trump does not do anything, up to and including declaring martial law) that impeachment hearings will probably begin the second week of January. And, if the senate is controlled by democrats, Trump may very well be removed from office after the senate trial.

If Trump is politically smart, and we all know that he is not, on January 21st he will resign and have Veep Vance issue him an all-encompassing pardon.

Why wait until then?

Because, as it is spelled out in the 22nd Amendment, it will let Vance fill out Trump’s term and still allow him to run twice himself. I am sure Vance’s imagination is running wild with being only the second person to serve in office as president for ten years.

But as the saying goes, “therein lies the rub.” If republicans, especially Trump backed republicans, get shellacked, and even a single digit percentage would be a shellacking in those solid red regions, Trump will lose any and all political capital he has remaining. The only people who will still support him are the members of his cult, or as Yonk likes to call them, his Trumpanzees. (Dave please check spelling)

Moving forward, many republicans still standing will probably act in the cowardly fashion to which they have become accustomed kowtowing to Trump and suddenly flip to an opposing position. If this happens, many senate republicans may find it best for their political future to find Trump guilty of whatever charges the house democrats choose to file.

And even more chilling for Trump, Veep Vance may promise the pardon and then simply flop back to his original position that Trump is America’s Hitler or cynical asshole like Nixon and not issue the pardon that Trump would so desperately desire.

There is a part of me that has doubts that the federal mid-terms will happen at all. I have no hesitation believing, that with his flagrant disregard for the Constitution, Trump will try and find a way to stop the elections, hold up the counting of votes, overturn the election or whatever means a fascist dictator uses to get his desired result. Considering the way he has had, for the most part, the supreme court dancing like marionettes ― he may succeed in stopping the mid-terms and totally dismantle our democracy.

However, even if all goes off without a hitch, and he is impeached and removed, and the fantasyland prediction that Veep Vance does not issue a pardon ― the likelihood of Trump ever serving an hour for his crimes will not occur. His ability to appeal, and his advanced age, make it more likely that the Grim Reaper will deliver his "soul" to Lucifer long before any justice of man will ever prevail.
