The GOP convention ended on a big note last night with Senator John McCain accepting the nomination. It was a long climb for Senator McCain who first had the notion to run in 1998. In the 2000 race. After winning the New Hampshire primary he was the subject of attacks by Bush’s pit bull Carl Rove. In the southern primary states, robo calls casted aspersions on the character of his family even going as far as saying his adopted daughter from Bangla Desh was his out of wedlock. For those wondering why he didn’t mention the President’s name, well, let’s just say John McCain owes Bush Jr. nothing. Plus it was smart for him to distance himself from the administration. His speech was well received and the GOP crowd seemed fired up and ready to work for the ticket. McCain left this morning with his running mate for a tour of battle ground states.
Michael Taluto, a delegate to the convention had this enthusiastic take on the McCain speech last night.
“This was one amazing convention. I have attended six conventions and this one was amazing. Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin just energized the GOP and made me so excited to go home and work hard for the next 60 days. Standing in 1000’s of balloons and confetti was unbelievable and being part of history was just amazing. Senator John McCain spoke from the heart and showed what a great job he will do as president and make American great again. He has called on Americas to join a cause great than themselves. I believe John McCain will fight for you and keep taxes low. Well it is time to go home and begin campaigning for American’s Future. We can’t wait to welcome Senator McCain and Governor Sarah to Scranton and Northeastern Pennsylvania,” noted Taluto.

NO CORBETTS NEED APPLY
Steve Corbett, WILK radio host was excluded from the invitation only Obama town meeting today at Schott Glass in Duryea. I saw Obama on TV while taking my chemo and thought he was thoughtful, funny and framed the issues well. I understand he wowed the crowd at The Avenue Diner in Exeter too. All that said, the invitation only rallies and the exclusion of a radio talk show host with very big ratings is a stupid organizational decision. If it was made because of Corbett’s former support of Hillary Clinton, then it shows a type of pique and retribution that will not serve the candidate well. Whatever good will engendered by the campaign stop, might have been washed away by the barring of Steve Corbett from the town meeting. The man was not happy. (If Obama can go on Fox News and get interviewed by Bill O'Reilly, surely he can take a question from Corbett.) To assuage his hard feelings, we offer Corbett a non polka to get him through this Friday, from YOU TUBE, the incomparable Little Anthony and the Imperials.

While I will defend the right of the media to attend events lets be fair. Corbett has made it abundantly clear on his show that he is against Obama. What does he call out "Nobama"?
So it is hard for him to complain about the lack of an invitation. If you want to portend that you represent the media and report the news in a fair and balanced manner you have to be careful when you editorialize during your banter.
Blogs are different. They were created by the owner to represent the owner's random thoughts and whatever the person felt like sending out to the world. Bias is expected.
I listen to Lynn and Corbett. But the beauty of radio is the ability to change the station or shut it off. Both of them may cut people off on air but I am sure they are "cut off" more than they realize.

He could be a Saudi or a member of the IRA! Radio talk show hosts just dont get the same respect as print journalists. Thats something Steve is having a difficult time accepting, right or wrong. His blatent Hilliaryitis and negative attitude towards Obama/Biden gives them every right to exclude him if they want to, but more likely he just got overlooked. Hard on the ego, but probably true. The guy has been over the top since his candidate failed! He's beginning to pontificate ala el Rushbo and hes almost as meglamanical.

I believe the intent of the question was: "Can we label the Obama campaign "racist" for excluding a white talk show host (Corbett) from attending for no other apparent reason? Purely rhetorical, of course.
Anon 10:08 I wouldn't go the "racist" route so much as I would go the courage test. To me ignoring Corbett shows a lack of courage on Obama's part. Choosing and picking your advesaries certainly isn't the type of person I would want as President. That's called playing it safe. What is he going to do if, and it won't happen, he were to get to the White House? Is he going to tell his Press Secretary to weed out the really tough question people from the Presidential press corp? When someone threatens us is he going to fold up? Let's talk about another lack of courage. Kanjorski accompanied him to Duryea yet never spoke.
Kanjorski was conspicuously absent when Joe Biden rode his bus into Downtown Scranton for La Fiesta. I was there on the corner when he arrived. Senator Casey was there and so was Governor Rendell. But no Kanjo.
Kanjo didn't make the Pittston
Tomato Festival. And yesterday Kanjo was a no show at Hazleton's Funfest celebration even though a pre-printed sign and a car were reserved for him.
Yet he found the time for a cameo appearance with Obama and 250 people of which only 80 were workers at the plant.
Is he showing signs of courage or carefully orchestrated appearances under the guise of his office?
He may have made it to the Plymouth Kielbasi festival but how come he was silent when Russia postured against Poland over possible U.S. missle deployment? Foreign policy is the responsibility of Congress. Russia threatens Poland and he is silent? Guess that's why he stated on WVIA Jan 31 interview that foreign policy is not his strong suit. Foreign policy does not need to be a strong suit but the courage to stand up for what is right is the best fitting suit.
Lack of leadership and lack of courage.
Obama talks and talks a good game about change. "Change we can believe in." America doesn't need to be changed. Americans want change. Washington is what needs to be changed. If you keep sending back the same people over and over the only ones who will be satisfied are the lobbyists filling the politician coffers. Everytime they do that they take away your voice. The only way you can get your larynx back is to shout your message at the polls loud and clear. How come the lobbyist don't try to buy our vote? Because it is not for sale. Can you honestly say the same thing about politicians who receive millions from lobbyists and pretend to the voters that they represent their constituent interests?
