Going to the candidate's debate.

THE VEEP DEBATES

Tonight will be a very interesting night. Governor Sarah Palin will face off against Senator Joseph Biden and for the life of me, I can't get the images of Roseanne Barr and the cartoon character Foghorn Legghorn out of my mind.
Palin's inability to handle the big questions and interviews in a smooth fashion has hurt her, reinforcing the image that her candidacy was a stunt. The fault lies with the McCain camp for not getting her on to GOP friendly turf shows like Limbaugh, Ingram, and Fox News. Her image has shrunk from super mom to improvising housewife trying to get by in a big contest.
Biden on the other hand starts out like a statesman waxing eloquent about Democratic values. But then he degenerates into a cartoon character exagerrating and doing a stream of ideas that are inaccurate in historic fact as well as off base.
Tonight's debate will depend on whether Palin was prepped properly and whether Biden can control his urge to elucidate. If it gets out of control, there's always the Dodgers vs. the Cubs.
Good luck to Governor Palin (aka Roseanne) and Senator Biden (aka Foghorn).

ELECTION TOP 40

VEEPS #34

OBAMA

He has as his Veep, a seasoned and very savvy foreign policy Senator that can help him build a government. But on the campaign trail, Biden's liaility is that he has beenin Washington too long when the country is screaming for change. Plus there's the Hillary factor and how things might be different if Obama had taken Senator Clinton. Still, Biden seems a steadier choice and offers more gravitas.

McCAIN

McCain's pick of Governor Palin certainly shook up the race. But that initial glow has been hampered by her interviews with Katie Couric and Charles Gibson. Palin sounded unsure and worse than that, not knowing basic things a politician needs to know when addessing issues. Still, this was a base pick and debates sometimes don't mean much (George W. Bush in '04-Dan Quayle in '88) when the base is energized. Other people have become Vice President with just as much experience as Palin. As with all Vice Presidential candidates, a lot will depend on the top of the ticket.

The problem with Sarah Palin is Washington. They won't let her be herself. When she was in Alaska she said what she wanted when she wanted and how she wanted.

Now they have her doing a new language, McCainspeak. She is always talking about McCain. She needs to let that go and get back to being Sarah, hardnosed, maverick, and straight to the point whether you like it or not.

YES, I AGREE. I SAY LET HER BE HER AND SHE WILL RISE AND FALL ON THAT. AS I SAID, THEY SHOULD'VE PUT HER IN AN AREA WHERE THERE'D BE NO "GOTCHA'S". I'M ALL FOR PEOPLE BEING THEMSELVES, IF I WERE THE McCAIN FOLKS, I'D SAY "LET HER RIP".

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our president.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and, you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.

Let's face it- Palin is clueless. She really has no business running as VP. Her political experence isn't that compelling as Gov of AK, Katie Couric looks like Walter Cronkite interviewing her, and she will be a heartbeat away from president with odds that look rather good. McCain only picked her since the Dems went with Obama rather than Clinton, and that pool of women voters was out there up for grabs. Guess he didn't figure he would end up looking like a goof for not being man enough to look Obama in the eyes during the debate, or that he would look like a fool when the went to Washington to save Wall Street when the Republican vote blew up on him. And I was going to vote for him, but Obama is looking like the more rational, rather than Liberal, person....
