Great guy and If I were building the court house, I might very well hire him but trying to keep it together is another story. Why in God's name did they not hire one of the people who have hands on experience? Many of the experienced candidates were not give a second interview and the first one barely scratched the surface. I personally know several who went through the process and they were not happy with the way they were treated. As one said, "it was like they just gave me stage one because they were forced to." A week to go and they named a replacement who needs time to learn. WOW! Proof positive that you don't need wisdom to be a judge, just enough votes.

Well I see you and your fellow bloggers were wrong on all counts.

to 850pm-
They brought on a program manager. For a county in such disrepair, it makes perface sense to me. This isn't an overnight fix, it's for the long haul.....
Good luck Tom.

Toughs to be right when you're dealing with no logic! Obviously, the media steered this action. The judges were terrified to make a good decision so they made a safe decision. Shame on them one and all.

10:54, you have got to be kidding. One week to get a budget and you think it is time for a long range plan? You should be working on this ship of fools, you would fit right in.

IN RESPONSE
not even five minutes after announcement corbett was going negative
AT ANY OTHER TIME IN OUR HISTORY YOU'D THINK THE AFFILIATIONS ON HIS SITE WOULD BE A GOOD THING BUT I CAN'T BLAME CORBETT ON THIS EARLY REACTION BECAUSE I HAD THE SAME ONE WHEN I SAW ALL THE BUSINESS THE GUY DID WITH THE GOVERNMENT. NOW THAT COULD PROVE TO BE A GOOD THING BUT AT FIRST GLANCE.......

Yeah and at second glance, this is the same guy who gave Samcar and group including former Pittston Area school director AJ Rostock a contract what shold have been 2 or 3% ----- 8% and way over the going rate to supervise the community college work. When the hell are the people going to wake up? These judges were a joke and looking at the people who got to the second interview as compared to those who were sent home after their 3 minutes is truly unexcusable. There were some qualified applicants and some who should not have even been in the room and guess who Burke and gang picked for a real interview? They should have cleared the room of all with no experience and then they would have had time to really pick a qualified commissioner. But the clowns in black chose the easy way out and we will pay for their blunder and lack of courage. Ah fugum all!

2 PM, I feel you pain. This would make a hell of a movie,
'The Men in Black' but who the hell would belive this actually happened? I am as upset as the others who can't enjoy the Christmas festivities because these assholes threw a wet blanket over our hope. What the hell do we do now? Yeah, ok, we should wait and see, give the guy a chance. Isn't that what they said about Bush? Cooney has a brain but who doesn't? The man has never give a moment's thought to the county budget, union contracts or the fact that people who work in Recreation will be unemployed on Januray 1, 2010. Does anyone care? Moon Lake is a 700 acre facility that will go to ruin as will all of the other county recreational facilities. So the idiots are right, let's give the guy a chance. I'm sick!

If this will not allow you to enjoy your Christmas holiday you are missing something in your life. The day I allow government at any level to influence my happiness will be the day I re-evaluate my own self worth.

9:13, It is nice to have such an aloof attitude but you probably have a decent job, your wife works and you live in a perfect little house enjoying a perfect little life. I on the other hand have very little income, I'm fighting the insurance company for a long term disability payment and I worried I won't be able to afford the taxes. It isn't just the county but the school and local taxes to. The county is bad enough and now who is there that cares? Certainly not the friggin judges or the county top managers who work part time for 80 and 90 thousand dollars. I went to the court house two weeks ago for a copy of a my assessment and the parking lo behind the court house was damn near empty. You tell me if my self worth is the problem or the lack of caring like people just like you. You are the problem, just as much as the judges. I'm going to take my medication and hope that the sleeping pills work and I can forget my problems and get a night's sleep.

9:13 use drugs as your escape. Perhaps an underlying factor.

I wonder if that isn't much of your problem.

The fact is if you think others care about you, you are mistaken. The Steve Corbett's and other liberals of the world who proclaim government as the answer, only do so for their own self enrichment and benefit.

Rely on gov't and others instead of yourself and you will continue to be disappointed.

My life is not that great.I don't need pity nor sympathy. I chose not to blame others for my lot in life. Through some bad luck I lost everything I worked for. I didn't turn to government for help. I didn't turn to others. I keep plugging forward. I am battling back. I don't use the bad as an reason to feel sorry for myself, I use it as a motivator to one day win.

Some days I can't afford to heat my 2 room apartment so I sleep in my car. I have taken plenty of cold showers. I will not ask government for help. I will die one day and don't want my life spent blaming the world for my ills or owing government for a few scraps.

8:53, Sounds like you're already dead! You're spirt seems willing to fight and stand on its own but something seems to be holding you back, I would think that only you know what that something is but allowing it to exist has certainly shortened the life span of your spirit. You haven't given up but I have to wonder how hard you're tring. Government isn't there to raise you up and maintain you but it sure can give you a step up when you need it.
