MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that House Republicans want less money for disaster relief than the Republicans do! It will be interesting to see how our Congressmen, Marino and Barletta stand up to the Boehner-Tea Party leadership.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that long time GOP strategist Ed Rollins jumped ship on the Michele Bachmann bandwagon. The quirky little firebrand from Minnesota has been losing some steam and Rollins has been counseling her to be a little less “out there”. Rollins ran a few of Ronald Reagan’s campaigns and knows his stuff. He also knows when to cut his losses and run.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that it didn’t take long for the scavengers and looters to come out of the woodwork and prey on the misery of others during this flood clean up. You can harp all you want about the valley with a heart but there are a great deal of ignorant, selfish and mean people that live in this area. These are the ones that always are looking to make a buck on someone else’s misery. Anyone who ever had a yard sale or been on a bus trip to Atlantic City or been to the Casino knows what I’m talking about. So far they haven’t become the majority but its getting close.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……….that the New York Times wrote an article highlighting West Pittston Borough as the poster child for their flood coverage. The View vs the levee was the main framework of their story.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…… at the guts and heroism of Medal of Honor Winner Dakota Meyer. Meyer was a Marine sergeant and one of 14 U.S. trainers working with an Afghan unit on Sept. 8, 2009, when they came under insurgent fire that pinned down four of the trainers. Meyer used a Humvee to move forward, rescuing 12 Afghan soldiers and bringing back the bodies of the four U.S. trainers. Meyer actually disobeyed his commander’s orders because they thought it would be an impossible mission. On NPR it was reported that Taliban warriors in civilian clothes came within 4 yards of Meyer’s vehicle. He was undeterred. At the ceremony , President Obama said "Dakota is the kind of guy who gets the job done, so I appreciated, Dakota, you taking my call," That other patriot, House Speaker John Boehner sometimes does not take his Commander In Chief’s calls. But I guess Boehner is a far cry from Dakota Meyer.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that there are more streets in America with the name “Second” than any other number. “First” Street ranks 6th in the number of streets named after that number.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that in a little village in Italy, the women in the town are signing a petition to get rid of a 27 year old bar maid. The women say the Brazilian native is enticing their men.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…………that WNEP’s Sarah Buynovsky’s story about developer Robert Mericle did not create a backlash against the businessman. Sure there were some comments by talk show hosts but so far the comments about Mericle’s post flood contributions have been positive.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that the level of empathy from the audience gathered at the Republican debate Monday night was disgraceful. This was the same group that cheered when a question was posed about a homeless man being in a coma being allowed to die because he had no health insurance. It is because of the reactionary policies of Republicans like these that people die because they can’t get health care.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that a University of Scranton study shows that 57 percent of men versus 29 percent of women were likely to ask about sex, posing questions such as "Did you have sex with him/her?" and "Was he/she better than me in bed?," 71 percent of women -- versus 43 percent of men -- asked if the cheater was in love with the other man or woman. The psychological study looked at How would you react if you found out that your partner had cheated? The guys wanted to know the details, the women, most likely knowing what dogs we men could be just wanted to know if it was serious.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…….that this current field of GOP candidates are so anti science that it is scary. Michelle Bachmann’s anecdote about a woman who told Bachmann her daughter became retarded because of the gardasil vaccine and then her repeating the story is just amazing and downright reckless. The fact that the Congresswoman can’t back it up just tells you what we are dealing with in regard to the loyal opposition against President Obama.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……..that Hugo Selenski's trial is being delayed. Hugo is acting as his own lawyer and hasn’t had a chance to read enough of the information. Even when a person acts as their own attorney, they start to act like one. Late and not prepared. I bet he doesn’t return his own phone calls!!!
