CATCH UP
A few things have been going on since we’ve been gone so in this edition of LuLac, we’ll play a little “Catch Up”.
HERMAN CAIN: Wow, what can you say about this guy!! His press conference on the third of December was rather odd. Given at elaborate headquarters on his home turf, Cain blamed everyone but himself for the implosion of his candidacy. Cain talked about how people were out to derail his message by these horrible allegations of infidelity. Cain told the crowd that even though he was battered, he wasn’t beaten. His dream, his supporters dream would go on but just not in the realm of a viable candidacy. Cain said something about continuing the fight through promulgation of ideas that he will fight for via a website and committee. I suspect this effort will yield the same results as O.J. Simpson’s search for the real killers. Herman Cain had an improbable run. But he had three major flaws, first he picked the wrong women to be “friends” with, (not to mention taking resources outside the marriage) and did not have plausible deniability with any of the affairs. None of them had any redeeming values or excuses. Crap, Bill Clinton at least used the mentoring line with Monica. Cain’s peccadilloes were seen as serving only himself and by extension disgracing his family. Herman Cain’s second flaw was hubris. He believed his own press and his own puffed up persona. Adulation and pats on the back can get to anyone. Cain enjoyed the high life of being the outsider. But he got too reckless thinking the cheers and fame would be enough. It wasn’t. Sarah Palin learned that quickly. Cain’s inability to articulate foreign policy and not be prepared was the cherry on top of the black walnut ice cream sundae that was his candidacy. What he hoped would be the cream rising to the top was melted quickly and decisively s soon as it came into contact with some serious heat.
SALAVANTIS STAFF: So incoming District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis named a first Assistant DA. He is Samuel Sanguedolce of Pittston will serve as first assistant district attorney, while Michael Dessoye will continue as chief of county detectives. Sanguedolce served as an assistant ADA under David Lupas and Jackie Musto Carroll. First off the guy is a qualified lawyer and Salavantis needs as much experience as possible in this office. But the same standard her campaign held to Jackie Musto Carroll must be applied to the Assistant District Attorneys too. But this is the real world and I’m not expecting any explanation soon on this one. This proves the point that campaigns have consequences. You can fire off all the rounds you want in hopes of winning, when you need to govern you have to swallow a bit of pride and in this case a tad bit of hypocrisy.
RON SANTO: The Baseball Writer’s Veteran’s Committee voted to elect Ron Santo in the baseball hall of fame. Santo was a consistent member of the Chicago Cubs in the 60s and 70s and was an outstanding ambassador for baseball as a player and announcer. Santo struggled with diabetes issues and died last year. The Hall gave him their thumbs up a year after he died. He deserved the award before he died but the over officious sanctimonious buffoonish sports writers kept him out of the Hall (as well as Gil Hodges) for reasons only known to their pea brains and over sized egos. I wish someone in Santo’s family would tell them all where to go……………
SIMONSON VERDICT: How about the Michael Simonson attempted murder verdict? A jury of seven women and five men acquitted Michael Simonson on attempted first-degree murder charges Wednesday in the nearly fatal beating of Lackawanna County jail inmate Nicholas Pinto
No one can accurately predict what a jury in LuLac land can do but the fact that Pinto was a convicted child molester did not help to seal the deal against Simonson. Jerry Sandusky fans, take note.
HARRY MORGAN: Harry Morgan the star of “Dragnet” and “Mash” died the other day at age 96. He was one of those character actors that was old when I first saw him on the CBS Comedy “Pete and Gladys”. He was an actor we all grew up with and had the longevity and talent to become an entertainment icon.
PITTSTON AREA NEPOTISM VOTE: The Pittston Area School Board repealed their nepotism law.The Scranton Times reported that the board scrapped a hiring policy meant to crack down on nepotism, less than a year after it was instituted, The board in a 6-3 vote approved member Ross Latona's proposal to repeal the policy at the meeting, which was advertised to also include "other and further business."
Dr. Latona and some board members said the policy was ineffective and did not live up to their expectations. Others, though, argued that repealing the policy was political, will open the door to nepotism and ultimately hurt the school district. What a joke. I guess the other board members listened to what the good doctor had to say. These things happen in area school boards because there are no opposite political parties challenging these Democratic party clowns. They do it for one very simple reason………..because they can. Look for the names related to board members to get any job open in the district.
FORECLOSURE MADNESS: How about those bastard bankers that make deals with people who were in danger of losing their houses? The banks give them reduced payments for a few months and then when there is time to renegotiate, they foreclose! No questions asked. All fifty state Attorney Generals are working on various complaints about the banks. Think of it, 50 Attorney’s Generals all had issues with the same segment of business people. When you see these Wall Street protests, these are people losing their homes after false promises. Suffice to say, there are only Mr. Potter’s left and not one George Baily in the mortgage business.

Students, may I take this opportunity to welcome back Mr. Yonki--sir, your presence was missed! As for the rest of you, the business of this class goes forward.
I would like to address the media hoopla surrounding Speaker Gingrich. The Liberal talking heads have all but annointed the former Speaker as the next GOP nominee and this is plain wishful thinking on their part--not to mention the Obama administration.
So,class, as my predictions politically over the years have been outright perfect (check the Gort 42 archives from 2008, if you doubt me) I shall point out on the chalkboard what is going to happen.
First, 3 Weeks from now when the Iowa caucuses occur, Ron Paul will squeak by with the victory, Gingrich will come in second. Suddenly the media will be pontificating on a Paul nomination.
A few weeks later we will have New Hampshire where Gov. Romney will be the victor with Ron Paul second and Gingrich a slight third.
By the time South Carolina rolls around, Romney will squeak by with a victory with Gingrich in second place.
Given the fact Gingrich has no organization and little money as opposed to Romney's war chest we can consider the Florida primary the sealing kiss to give Mitt the nomination. Newt will be all but a memory.
I am sorry to burst the bubble of the youngsters who had hoped Obama could sail to a second term courtesy of Gingrich, but this is the way it is going to be.
CLass, Mitt Romney will be the nominee of the Republican Party and the next President of the United States.
Something to think about this morning.
Class DIsmissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome back you damn fool!
We missed some of your stupid ideas (as well as good ones). Feel back to snuff and get on with things.
Hey Prof ........ wanna bet $10,000?
Pittston Area nepotism out ....... I thought it was out when Bob Linsky got his daughter a job.
Salavantis has a real problem, she beat the hell out of DA Carroll based on the juvies and then she turns around and hires an ADA to be First Assistant and he was in that court daily and never opend his mouth ........ is there something wrong with this picture?
Crap! Youre back and thats good but that damn ass the perfesser made his return too. Too bad!
Not Anyones Student
A Graduate with a Masters in snuffing out bullshitters like the perfesser.
Nepotism
Appointing your Grandmother to an important position for the good of the city/county!
Yonks,
I'm with you on Santo and Hodges.
There are certainly lesser players in the Hall and few with the character of Ron Santo. This guy had so much to overcome including the jerk writers and policies of the Cooperstown elite. It just would have been too classy to vote him in before he died, I guess.
Cassidy
I believe that Miss. Salavents committed SLANDER !!!! In her campaign by stating that Musto Carroll should have know what was going on in Juv. Ct. !!!!!She positvely did not believe her own campaign and she approved all of her ads !!!! Now she makes Attorney Sam Sanguedolice her First Asst. knowing that he was in the Juv. Court FOR YEARS with X-Judge Civ. I think that makes a case for SLANDER TILLING LIES ABOUT SOMEONE EVEN IN POLITICS !!!!!
