MAYBE I’M AMAZED

MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says marijuana should be legalized and treated like alcohol because the government's war on drugs has failed. I would never imagine that this ultra conservative would be on the same page as former WILK morning man Kevin Lynn. The outspoken evangelical Christian and host of "The 700 Club" on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network he founded said the war on drugs is costing taxpayers billions of dollars. He said people should not be sent to prison for marijuana possession.

MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that Newt Gingrich will not get the hint and get out of the race for President. Even Republicans who won in 1994 with his “Contract With America” feel antipathy for him. When Joe Scarborough says he “created the meanness and divisions” in Washington politics, that’s really something.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that Bob Casey is running for re-election for the U.S. Senate. It seems like he’s hellbent on keeping it a secret. Like the groundhog, Casey came out of hiding today appearing on WILK and WBRE this morning.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that a big solar storm came to earth and there were no incidents. You would think that the sky was going to fall listening to these all night talk shows that go on and on about conspiracies. One guy talked about the canisters on the borders creating a mysterious gas that is making us slumber into a mindless realm of inactivity. Never mind the canisters, donuts are doing that to America!!!
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that both Payton Manning and Robert Irsay were crying themselves a river this week when Manning and the Colts parted ways. Manning was paid 20 million bucks to sit out the 2011 season. Irsay had to pay him, by contract another 29 million by the end of March in order to keep him. Don’;t you think it would have been reasonable for Manning to say to Irsay, “Look, give me just 9 million this year in order for me to stay a Colt and have me mentor your new draft pick”. I love Payton Manning as a player. After seeing a generation of Quarterbacks, (great ones) having the plays sent in to them by their coaches, it was refreshing to see a guy come up to the line of scrimmage and bark his plays out and then change them on a dime. Up until these contract problems, he was a throwback to another time. But when he tearfully said he was going to miss the Colts staff, “the little people” in the concession stands and the front office, that was too much. Crocodile tears! When they say it’s not about the money, it is!
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that the legacy of this new County Council will not only be the formation of a new government but also the undoing of layers and layers of fiscal mismanagement in places associated with the County. The latest surprise comes from the Luzerne/Schuykill County Workforce Development office. WBRE’s Joe Holden found out that $400,000 was being used as raises for the administrators of that program. These are people that are supposed to help unemployed people. And in some cases they got raises of 30%. What were they doing for that money? The Executive Director had no idea how to answer Holden’s question the other night on TV leave us all wondering how she got that job. The County Council should not be shy about letting the Feds or the DA look at all of this because they won’t even get to what they need to do in terms of following the Home Rule Charter. Workforce Development….developing riches for a few. Meanwhile people are being offered jobs for $9.00 an hour with no benefits. If this stuff continues, the pitchforks are going to be coming out very soon.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……the archer fish can spit water up to seven feet to shoot down bugs from overhanging leaves.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that Governor Corbett has the unmitigated gall to say Joe Paterno didn’t do enough in the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal? Really Tommy boy? While the investigation was in its infant stages, they had one investigator on it from the Attorney General’s office. The occupier of that office? One Tom Corbett, now Governor. During that time, the Sandusky investigation just wasn’t sexy enough for the headline grabbing AG. By its very nature, a sex crime investigation has to be conducted in the shadows. Instead, Corbett was investigating State Legislatures and their staffs for doing campaign work on the state payrolls. Now that is a crime and Corbett’s team did yield arrests but on the scope of what’s more heinous, you have to go with the Sandusky crimes. Before Corbett slams the late Joe Paterno, he should look at what he did as AG to further this investigation along.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED……that Wilkes Barre City Council members don’t realize they live in the United States of America. Most of them know or are related to school teachers. They should ask about controlling a classroom. Thursday night’s meeting was a perfect example of “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen”. And before you get into the public servant mantra, remember these people are getting paid a salary and benefits. If Linda Stets Urban is such a problem for you, maybe its time to pack it in and quit.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…. that Virginia Governor Bob McDonald, a possible choice for Vice President signed the ultra sound bill in Virginia this week. The law requires a woman contemplating an abortion to get an ultrasound of the fetus before undergoing the procedure which by the way is a legal one.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that the infinity sign is called a lemniscate. In algebraic geometry, a lemniscate (from Latin lēmniscātus meaning "decorated with ribbons") may refer to any of several figure-eight or ∞ shaped curves:
The Trammps and Jimmy Ellis, circa 1978.
MAYBE I’M AMAZED…..that the lead singer of the tramps, Jimmy Ellis died last night. An agency I worked for in the late 70s almost brought the Spinners and the Tramps to the Kingston Armory but as we all know, almost doesn’t count. The Tramps had their biggest hit with “Disco Inferno” which took off after it being included in the blockbuster movie “Saturday Night fever”, Here are two of their initial hits from their first album on Buddah Records.

With Manning, of course it is about the money. He is a PROFESSIONAL football player. Why should he restructure his contract AGAIN. He did it once to save the Colts money. Just because he wants to be paid a hefty fee for his services doesn't mean he doesn't feel bad about leaving Indy.
And, when he leads another team to the playoffs, he will have proven his worth.

"Meanwhile people are being offered jobs for $9.00 an hour with no benefits" The reason is because people around here have no self-worth and are willing to work for that little amount. If there are no jobs, go create something for yourself.

What is wrong with having an ultrasound prior to an abortion? We mandate an ekg and sometimes a stress test prior to most surgical procedures. A nuerosurgeon would not cut into a brain or spinal chord without an MRI. The ultrasound requirment would greatly benifit the physician by giving him or her an actual picture to guide them.
Ultrasound is relatively noninvasive, considering that an abortion takes a vacuum hose with serrated edge and jams it through the vaginal canal, up into the uterus and slices an unborn child into bits and pieces.
Perhaps, it is time that someone is required to have the information that what is within them is a viable life form. A small person who exchanges oxygen and nutrients via the umbilical chord. A child whose nervous system is completed and closed on day 20 and whose cardiovascular system is closed and functioning on day 21.
It is funny that animal rights activitist will use ultrasound to prove that an animal within an egg is living, making it ilegal to destroy the eggs of animals on the endagered species list, but suggest the same for the human animal, and we learn just how vial and animalistic humans really are.

Yonk, you still don't seem to understand that the County Council has nothing to do with the running of the county. They will not as a group accomplish anything. It is all up to the manager. If he looks into things and thinks a legal eye is needed then he will ordeer it, not the Council. The Workforce is a prodiuct of Urban and Petrilla, they eliminated the old Human Resources that managed the federal programs bwecauswe their chosen manager didn't have a clue what he was doing and so the agency fell into deep mud with the Feds. Instead of hiring a qualified manager, Petrilla and Urban voted for this out of county group to run the agency and this is what we got. Lay the blame on Petrilla and Urban becauswe that's exactly where it belongs. I'm sick to death of Petrilla and Urban not getting the real credit for all the bad they did and not a word was siad when the guy who was the manager of Petrila's home town was firwed so she could have his job. He was just hired to run the Hazleton Transit Authority. This stuff stinks and even when it comes to the county Council, you don't seem to get it.
