KUDOS TO COLONELS
ONE MOMENT IN TIME!!!!
Just a shout out to the students at Wilkes College who this weekend cleaned up the garbage at Nesbitt Park. The students picked up various and sundry forms of trash discarded by the slobs who live in this area. John Maday who is one of the great environmental boosters of this area lamented the fact that people, aka slobs of Wyoming Valley (John is too polite to call them out for the pigs they are but I’m not) said he hoped people would not use public parks as their private garbage dumps.Too late John, too late. It is ingrained in the culture here. A friend of mine had a meeting at the Woods last week with an agency head from out of the area. He had to get over to Genetti’s quickly so made a short cut through the Brookside section of Wilkes Barre. He took that road that runs along Hollenback Park directly under the Crossvalley Expressway. Right along the route he told me he was mortified at the garbage that lined the side of the road for as long as the eye can see. (And yes, there was the couch and chair right along the road too). Heaven knows what the guy riding in the passenger seat thought.
Folks, this doesn’t go on everywhere. There are actually people who use couches, 30 packs of beer, mouth wash, condoms, fast food, soda and microwaves all across the land. The only difference is they throw away the packaging in their trash and the slobs of Wyoming Valley litter the roadsides.
We are slobs. Plain and simple with no respect for ourselves and where we live. I spent an hour yesterday cleaning up the garbage from my front lawn. Slobs.
But hey Wilkes College, thanks for your efforts. They are appreciated if only noticeable for one moment in time. Because as sure as God made little green apples, the slobs will reappear from their holes and litter again.
ATTENTION 11PM NEWS TEAM!!!!!
To the people at the 11PM Edition of WBRE TV Eyewitness News.
On Monday night, you reported that the lady pictured below, Margaret Thatcher passed away.
However, as your anchor read a fine tribute to her, your “b” roll showed a photo of this lady, Barbara Bush, who is not dead.
Maybe the Editor missed it. Or wasn’t alive when either the deceased Thatcher or the very much alive Bush was in the news. Not being picky here…..just saying.
Maybe you need an editor that might have read a copy of Time Magazine along the way.

I'm sure you intended it, or maybe not. But your two stories have something very much in common; the laziness and sloppiness that is prevalent in NEPA.
Yonk, the news media is not immune from the economic factors that influence every other business. Their mistakes are broadcast for the whole world to see.
I suspect that the "editor" was "part-timed" if there at all. The game was was on .
Was there an intern involved?
Are the ratings so deplorable that morale is in the dumps, nobody cares and most are waiting for the axe to drop?
What ever the reason may be the cause must be addressed. This stuff has a plutonium level half-life.
You just can't find good help these days.
From what I've seen and heard the garbage is one big metaphor accurately reflecting the predominant Valley attitude.
Those that care are silent in the face of crackheads with no fear of the police. We still have police don't we?
How can you dump so much cr@p and nobody sees?
RE:Attention 11 p.m. News Team!: Professor Milburn Cleaver was right....the young generation has no idea of history. If he were here today (may he rest in peace) he would have used his catchphrase regarding this story--"Ingrates".
Milburn Cleaver is dead? Or just no longer posting?
Beaver Cleaver is Dead? Oh No!

Milburn Cleaver is dead? Or just no longer posting?
AS THEY SAY AT MY JOB WHEN SOMEONE QUITS OR IS DISMISSED, "WHEREABOUTS UNKNOWN".
Re: Milburn Cleaver Dead. I can assure you that the Professor passed quietly several months ago. I knew him well, a man of class and very assertive on his views..even if a bit abrasive. His wit, candor will be missed. RIP Prof.

I AM SORRY TO HEAR THAT. HE WAS A THOUGHTFUL AND PROVOCATIVE VOICE THAT EDUCATED AND ENTERTAINED. THAT'S WHY I POSTED EVERYTHING HE WROTE. RIP INDEED.
If the Professor is deceased, which I doubt, you were too kind. He was a blight on LULAC and a pompous ass. Obamas reelection killed him if indeed as stated he is deceased!
The compassionate heart of NEPA heynas is alive and well in 4:03PM's statement.
Not a Heyna. Just an honest observer. I bet the guy isn't dead either. How can he be? He was never alive!I don't miss him either. MY compassion extends to rest of us.
That's right - just read what satisfies what you already think is true.
I liked the Prof's challenges and from my experience he called the drunks and slackers out. They were the intolerant ones and more than once showed their @$$ when they were unable to defend and validate their opposition to his conclusions.
Yonk is to be commended for providing what was often a view quite opposite of his readership and not letting the juvenile attacks affect his decision to continue.
