TIME’S PERSON OF THE YEAR

People were actually whooping and hollering (Nancy Kman!!!) when Pope Francis was named Person of the Year. What a wonderful selection. Francis has captivated the world with his message of humility and humanity. Past Popes who were Persons of the Year were John XXIII in 1962 and John Paul II in 1994.

The election of Francis was a thunderbolt that has given Catholics hope that maybe the church will be more human in its dealings with issues of social justice, poverty and sexuality. The recognition by Time of this modest but I dare say calculating man (in terms of his message) highlight what he is trying to message to Catholics and all faiths in the world today.

LUZERNE COUNTY TAX INCREASE
(Photo: biztrends.net.)

The Luzerne County Council voted to raise taxes by 8 per cent. The maximum that could do so. Those voting yes were Jim Bobeck, Tim McGinley, Rick Williams, Linda McClosky Houck and Eugene Kelleher. Voting no were Rick Morelli, Stephen A. Urban, Elaine Maddon Curry, Stephen J. Urban and Edward Brominski.. Five of the ten unions in the county voted for concessions to health care. The poor babies now have to pay a $500.00 deductible. Many people in private business or on individual plans would take that deal in a minute. Those other five unions should be looked at very closely by the new Council members.
The tax hike was coming. We are paying for the sins of our past Commissioners. And folks, elections have consequences. If you were against taxes, then maybe you should have gotten off your ass and voted for County Council. I have no patience with dumb asses who bitch and when you ask them when the last time they voted, they say for Romney or Obama. Shut up and deal with it. Or vote.

CARTWRIGHT "SAVAGE"D

Congressman Matt Cartwright was featured on the Michael Savage Show the other night. Cartwright was criticized for his defense of the Affordable Health Care Act. In addition Cartwright is being attacked by the GOP for his stance on what is going to be the best thing for the well being of Americans. Cartwrighht said, "The National Republican Congressional Committee is attacking me for speaking up to give Americans affordable health care. Last week I spoke on MSNBC about how while it is far from perfect, the Affordable Care Act will ultimately help a significant number of Americans by bringing more affordable and more complete coverage to the neediest of Americans."
No worries Matt, simply ask them, “What the **** is your plan??? They have none.

MUSTO’S HEALTH

Former Senator Ray Musto is trying to stall his trial. He is fast becoming the delay of game champion of the political world. I sympathize with his health problems but these are the feds and they aren’t going away. The life he’s leading now can’t be anymore stressful than a final judgment.

FEATURE YEAR

We’re going to be doing a poll soon for our feature year. If anyone has suggestions, let me know. Our contenders are 1974, 1980 and 1990. But we’ll take more suggestions.

Again you slam the county employees. You're just wonderful the way you sit back and beat the shit out of people who did get off their asses and land a decent job but remember, the pay of those people is nothing to brag about. Benefits are good and for the past 10 years, new hires pay toward their benefits but you continue to ignore that. If you had a chot at one of those jobs, you would be there in a heart beat and I would bet your sweet ass that you would think you deserved everything you got. I'm wondering why you never comlained about your cousin's or uncle's benefits when they worked for the county?

Musto is a cheap punk bum who is beating the system and people such as your self will not scream about it. The game is dl=elay till he dies and then his wife and family will collect his huge pension and he will have to give back nothing, not a damn thing. You not screaming about it is part of the problem.

What exactly was Musto accused of taking from taxpayers?

IF he is guilty, which after reading the full transcript of the wire, I'm not so sure he is guilty of anything, but if he was, he didn't take anything from taxpayers.

Everyone is so out for blood over nothing. Again, IF he is guilty, what he is accused of, does NOT warrant his death, and here is a a very strong possibility of that occurring according to what has been reported of his medical condition.

People in this area are so out for blood of politicians, they are missing the real crimes that are occurring with increasing frequency. Crimes that could physically hurt, maim or worse people, but go ahead call Senator Musto names, wish for his death, if that will make you feel like a man. I'm sure if your family was threatened by a real criminal, you would hide in the bushes and scream about it later.
