The LuLac Edition #2613, March 8th, 2014

THE MIND READER

Free speech lover Republican Congressman from California Darrell Issa. And you wonder why there are so many Democrats in California!!!. (Photo: TeenSleuth.com)
Darrell Issa should be appointed President of the United States! No, wait, he should be appointed President of the World. Or maybe whatever deity that is running the world should hand over all the responsibilities to Issa. You see he can read minds. He knows what will happen in the future.
Well not really. The GOP again had an opportunity to grill an IRS official at a Congressional hearing. Sure witness Lois Lerner was going to take the Fifth. But Issa instead of making the argument against the Obama administration’s handling of the IRS acted like a petulant child taking his marbles home with him shutting down a Congressional hearing.
Look at this video and then tell me how much the national GOP loves freedom. My right wing friends bitch about how President Obama is taking away our freedom. They talk about how the Democrats are taking away our rights. But Darrel Issa seems to be in a league of his own on this one.
Yep, the Democrats are taking away your freedoms they say. But this guy, a Republican committee chair doesn’t even give his Democratic counterpart the courtesy or respect to ask a question.
Sad, pathetic and so typical of the party that is so scared of our freedoms being taken away by government. THEY ARE EXHIBIT A!

Dear Mr. Yonki,
As cliche' as it is, this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
You are one of the most heavy handed censors in the bloggosphere, so your outrage and condemnation is hollow.
Until you are willing to allow the free exchange and flow of conversation, you should not speak out against those who act as you.

8:05 AM ... Apparently you idea of a free flow of conversatio is for Yonk to allow character assasination or some other form of hate mail. Please don't lose sight of the fact that this is not an open forum, it is Yonk's blog and you have the freedom of not signing in. The two local newsp;apers allow for open discussion and freedom to express opinions and all it has become is an outlet for the haters and bigots and those who never have a good word about anything. Just look at yesterday's comments on the VP speaking at the Pittston Friendsly SOn's of St Patrick's dinner. They call him everything under the sun including a moron. Yes, a moron and this from a Valey Knuckle Dragger in reference to a man who is an attorney, a former US Senator (youndest ever elected, age 29) and Vice President of the United States. Rather be proud he will honor this area by taking the time to visit, these people curse his p;resence. THANK YOU YONK FOR SPARING US THESE FOOLS.

In regards to the 8:05 opinion.
Yes you have some true statements. But in regards to the one on "flow of conversation". Seems like it was not in effect there when the hearing was shut down and no time given to hear others speak on this IRS investigation.
Two way street is needed, regardless to party affiliation. We need to let all on these committees speak. God knows we pay them enough. Let them have hours upon hours of hearings. Instead of shutting them down to go play golf and have a few drinks at the club house.

I AM. AND THE REASON FOR THAT IS I WON'T ALLOW UNTRUTHS TO RUN FREE. WHEN I MAKE AN ERROR, I'LL RETRACT IT. (MUCH TO THE DELIGHT OF ONE OF MY HATERS BUT HEY, THAT'S COOL. THERE ARE THOSE WHO DO AND THOSE WHO DON'T WRITE). PLUS I'D RATHER HAVE JUDICIOUS EDITING AND STILL BE HERE RATHER THAN A FLAME OUT AFTER A FEW WEEKS.
Until you are willing to allow the free exchange and flow of conversation, you should not speak out against those who act as you.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE HERE. I AM NOT A CONGRESSMAN WITH THE POWER DARREL ISSA HAS. I WILL ALLOW FOR DISAGREEMENT. OTHERS SIDES ARE WELCOME HERE TO EXPRESS AN OPINION. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO RE ALIGNED WITH ME POLITICALLY WHO WANTED THE PROFESSOR BANNED. NOT HAPPENING BECAUSE HE BRINGS THOUGHTFUL AND NON INSULTING COMMENTARY TO THE TABLE. ISSA TOOK HEAVY HANDED TO A NEW LEVEL WHEN HE SHUT OUT HIS MINORITY CHAIRMAN. I LIVED THROUGH THE NIXON IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS. I BROADCASTED SUMMATIONS OF IT EVERY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT ON WVIA FM DURING THE SUMMER OF 1974. THE CHAIRMAN PETER RODINO LET HIS MINORITY MEMBERS BE HEARD.
BUT TIMES HAVE CHANGED.
ONE MORE THING, YOU GIVE ME TOO MUCH CREDIT AND TOO MUCH INFLUENCE. BUT THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS.

For what it's worth, I think you do a fine job. The problem with a lot of comment sections on the web is that they become a forum for character assassination, name calling, insults, and quite frankly, libelous speech.

I've always allowed unfettered speech when it came to Buzz or me on OneVoteCounts or when it came to a truly public figure. I drew the line and continue to draw the line when it comes to character assassination of non-public figures.

While I don't believe calling President Obama a "subhuman mongrel" serves much of a purpose, but to make the one saying it (Ted Nugent) look like a "subhuman mongrel" himself, I allow such a comment, because Barack Obama is about as public a figure as you can get.

Buzz agrees whole heartedly and feels the same way about aspersions cast our way, after all as Buzz says, "I heard a lot worse, I was married twice."

But, when it comes to non-public figures, such as fellow posters on a comment section, I don't consider them public figures, so I will, if I have to, take down a comment that is pure libel.

Keep up the good work Yonk.

Dude, correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a time when you were not so haplessly prone to ranting and raving.

You might want to call time and chill for a spell. Writing in anger does not work.

Hey Yonks-
The professor insults from start to finish. He has a superior attitude problem and for you to say non insulting would indicate you dont read the comments. I dont care what you edit and understand its your thing and I support the Professors right to ramble, but non insulting he aint!

Sure we want to know what Lerner knows. We already figured it out - she's dirty and covering for a higher up - we just need the evidence.

Lois Lerner has answered questions for the DOJ investigation into the IRS targeting scandal, but continues to invoke her Fifth Amendment rights before the congressional committee.

It's an interesting decision, albeit not without precedent. Either Lerner feels that the committee is doing nothing but setting "perjury traps" for her, or else she's assured that the DOJ "investigation" is little more than an exercise in making the scandal disappear, and thus is helping the department craft a narrative designed to do just that. Or both.

There are, of course, a number of good reasons for objective observers to suspect that Lerner's motives are less than pure:

(1) The DOJ investigation is being led by an Obama donor -- a highly unusual circumstance

(2) Attorney General Eric Holder himself has a checkered history when it comes to favoritism among non-profits.

(3) The FBI has already signaled that it won't file charges against anyone, even though none of the victims of the harassment have been interviewed.

(5) In short, the DOJ IRS investigation is a sham.

One suspects the cagey Ms. Lerner knows exactly what she is doing.

While I respect Congressman Cummings courage during the Civil Rights movement. He was a catalyst for change in national and state law where race was concerned. The ignorance and bigotry that was ingrained in our nation until the Civil Rights Act was promulgated remains embarrassing to me.

Since those times, Cummings has been a regular dealer of the race card. Almost everything he does leads to MORE government handouts to the 700,000 he claims to represent. The democrats, and Cummings in particular, use of race in this instance strains credibility. This was a scripted circus to get Congressman Issa removed from his post as committee chairman. It is Issa who has stared down Cummings now and folks like Henry Waxmann and Barney Frank when the democrats were the House majority party.

Cummings and the democrats are working to change the focus of attention from Lois Lerner and the IRS to Rep. Issa. Remember, there is not even an inkling of scandal in the activities of the IRS.

Good morning students.
I hope those of you who attended the Pittston St. Patrick’s Day parade have recovered nicely from your hangovers and have settled with your respective bail bondsmen. After another semi-lengthy absence it is, if not a pleasure, a change to once again speak before you. My physicians have advised me to take my recovery slowly and not bite too much off of the apple at one time. Regardless, here we all are once again.
The work of this classroom moves forward…….
Students, it appears to me that what is old is new again with regard to this nation’s foreign policy. I recall how the liberal pundits laughed at Governor Romney when he stated in the last campaign that the Russian government was our most serious threat worldwide. Well, to all the so called experts I say, who is laughing now????? Again, I lament the fact that a more than qualified statesman was denied the Presidency simply because he was born of wealth. What are we left with???? A hapless, in over his head gentleman who can deliver a good oratorical speech but nothing else. After reading about the events in Ukraine I had to shake my head and wonder if I was back in 1979 once again.
With all due respect, Mr. President. Why are we losing our status as the number one world power, and our friends???? Give me your answer!!!!! Are we to truly believe that sanctions against Russia will drive the communist forces to withdraw from Crimea? Please, do not make me laugh. What is equally amusing is the fact that the Democrats are salivating over the myth that the very woman who as Secretary of State and presided over this disastrous foreign policy will be elected our next President. Mrs. Clinton, do not even waste your time. From Afghanistan to Benghazi to Ukraine, your fingerprints (along with the President’s) are all over these failures. Perhaps madam, had you not possessed such blind ambition you would have remained in the Senate and be free from accountability today. Yet, you took the gamble Madam Secretary and you and most importantly, our nation lost.
In my convalescence I had much time to conduct research on the probable GOP field for 2016 and I have concluded that the Republican nominee for President will be non-other than Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He is a man of great depth, intellect and an insight for the future. More important, he will pummel any of the potential Democratic nominees, including Mrs. Clinton.
So, in closing, students, you heard it here first.
Scott Walker will be the next President of the United States!!! My only regret is that we have to wait nearly three years for it to happen. May God guide us through the dark days to come until that bright January day in 2017.
Something to think about this morning…..
Class Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So when Harry Reid shuts down debate in the Senate and changes rules to eliminate the minority's ability to effectively challenge anything, well, that's because elections have consequences. The D's don't control the House and Cummings was trying to make a statement that was out of order. Period.

8:24 PM....... thank you for the link. I watched it and it also shows Issa as being a bully and trying to stop Waxman from getting to the truth. Issa refused to follow order of the Chair and wait for his turn to speak A whole different story with his current action of simply asking a question himself and then closing the hearing without allowing any Democrat or other member to ask any questions of the witness. You sure do have a funny contorting way of interpreting that video.
