The LuLac Edition #3427, February 9th, 2017
The panel of three judges on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously refused to reinstate the order after a federal judge had issued a halt to the order last week.
But the Justice Department said it is "reviewing the decision and considering its options.” Trump later tweeted: "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!"
He also told the White House press pool shortly after the ruling, "it's a political decision and we'll see them in court...it is a decision that we will win in my opinion very easily.
So does he know that two of the three Judges were appointed by a Republican President? Does he know that there are checks and balances in this country? Does he even have a rational basis for keeping people out? Does he know that the Judicial branch settles all of the matters even ones involving a President? Does he not realize the Courts get the final decision on what is legal and what s not?
Paul Ryan this evening has said that the White Hose should handle this. His words tonight, “We’ll defer to the White House”. Yeah, that’s a very tepid “good on ‘ya!”
On the merits of the case, Trump could not prove that the ban would essentially stop terrorism or there is proof of a threat. But Judges are professionals as well as human and I can’t help but think that these Judges, all Judges are miffed about the ridiculous tweets and attacks on their character. Trump bragged about being a negotiator! Really? Like this?
Trump had an out the other day. He could have even pulled the order and re-wrote it. But his insistence on this is mind boggling and is derailing his agenda.
To recap, Trump issued the executive order, which placed a 90-day pause on immigrants from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Sudan, on Jan. 27, causing chaos and outrage at airports across the country. The order also imposed a 120-day pause on all refugees, and an indefinite pause on refugees from Syria.
After today, the beat goes on!
I’m bringing this up because WBRE TV’s Dave Kuharchik put it up for comment on his Facebook page today. Predictably it got some varied responses. Here’s my take:
1.Mathers should face the fullest punishment of the law.
2.Her actions were an invasion of privacy and I might even go far as abuse. When one goes to a gym where they pay for a membership, they should have a expectation of privacy.
3.Her anti ageist behavior as well as her reactions to this through social media tell us volumes about the character of one of these dregs of society.
I always said that women sometimes are their own worst enemy. This is a case in point.
AND SHOULDN'T
New England has been reigning champions during the Brady-Belichick years and even that has caused consternation. Both are guys some people just love to hate. Brady because of his good lucks and seemingly perfect manner; and Belichick because of his non existent personality. I Both are dominant members of the origination.
As a matter of fact the troika of Brady, Belichick and Kraft will be elected to the Hall of Fame. However none of the players during this fantastic run will ever get a sniff. The players Belichick got for his team are good solid, non flashy players. They are just happy to have the chance and they respond with games of their lives to this team chemistry as well as this coach.
To me there is nothing to hate about that. The Patriots are not sexy, their first three Super Bowls were won by one field goal. Their losses to the New York Giants proved the theory that some teams just have “those years”. It’s the “Their year” theory.
No matter how they won, the Patriots did. As a Packer fan, I am also a football fan. Sunday’s game was one to behold, Mrs. LuLac ranting notwithstanding. The Patriots have won their championships by hard work, very little drama or ego and exciting execution.
Ya have to just love that!
Governor Tom Wolf has plans for property tax relief in his budget and here they are.
Expanded eligibility to assist 569,000 senior citizens and disabled.
Eliminate school district property taxes for a total of 331,000 senior citizens and disabled.
Increased rebates for all eligible applicants up to a maximum of $2,000.
Excludes all veteran disability benefit payments from income eligibility calculation.
While this is all well and good, maybe the Governor and the Legislature should expand this. How? Maybe to the bulk of people who fund local schools with property tax relief. I supported Tom Wolf but I heard this song before from Governor Ed Rendell when gambling was supposed to end property taxes. It is all well and good to help seniors and disabled veterans. They deserve a break for their longevity and service.
But not at the expense and exclusion of the people paying the bills.Over burdened property owners who are strapped every year and disregarded by state government.

Jasmine is a native of Mount Carmel and is a graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. She is also a graduate of Bloomsburg University where she earned a degree in mass communications. Jasmine lives in Kingston. She had the distinct honor to cover the Summer Olympics in Rio for Nexstar Broadcasting stations nationwide. Her journey to Rio was an experience of a lifetime. She spent three and a half weeks in South America and during that time Jasime filed 61 live on-air reports. Being submerged in the culture of Rio was amazing for the lone reporter from our area.
As could be expected on any trip to a foreign country, the language barrier proved to be troublesome. Jasmine wished she would have learned Portuguese before she went to Rio because it was tough communicating. For instance when she would go out for dinner it was kind of difficult for her to order the food. “Quite often I found myself pointing to the pictures,” she said.
Working alongside journalists from all over the world was the best thing I have ever done,” she said. “It was the hardest I’ve ever worked. To do what I was doing on that level at the Summer Olympics was just incredible.”
Knowing that she will be presenting before The Irregulars, Jasmine has had time to reflect on her journey to Rio. Although she welcomes the opportunity to speak before our group, Jasmine wants us to convey to everyone that she prefers her presentation be dialogue driven. Please give some thought as to what you want to learn about the Summer Olympics from Jasmine on Saturday.

Whether the roll-out of the president’s temporary travel ban was ill-prepared or not, and whether one agrees or not about which nations or people should be subjected to extreme vetting, the president’s authority in the matter of protecting the borders and keeping out those he sees as potentially dangerous is universally conceded.
That a district judge would overrule the president of the United States on a matter of border security in wartime is absurd.
Trump has warned the judges that if they block his travel ban, and this results in preventable acts of terror on American soil, they will be held accountable. As rightly they should.
Meanwhile, Trump’s White House should use the arrogant and incompetent conduct of these federal judges to make the case not only for creating a new Supreme Court, but for Congress to start using Article III, Section 2, of the Constitution – to restrict the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, and to reclaim its stolen powers.
A clipping of the court’s wings is long overdue.

No declaration of war by Congress, 1% of the country serving. What are yu willing to give up?

Three branches of the Constitution, does he plan on taking over that branch and be the dictator the right who screamed about their freedoms being taken away, is that what you want?

Judges who made the decision, 2 Republican appointees and one Democrat. Maybe you want chimps as judges?
Not that it really mattes, but according to McClathcy, you are wrong about the make up. It is 2 from dem, one from republican.
Judge William C. Canby, Jr., 85, was appointed by President Jimmy Carter. Judge Michelle T. Friedland, 44, was appointed by President Barack Obama. Judge Richard R. Clifton, 66, was appointed by President George W. Bush.

First off, thank you for the correction. Unfortunately any Jimmy Carter appointment, because it's been 37 years out morphs into some other outer category. Sometimes I fall into the trap that it seems like history began on Jan. 20th, 2017 with this Republican administration.
The striking thing here is the age range of each Judge. Again like the party make up, that shouldn't matter.
FB exploded with Trump partisans saying that now the Judiciary is Liberal when it doesn't go their way.
Bottom line is we have a man child President who doesn't seem to realize he can't settle a legal case or a Judicial ruling to go away.
Thanks for the input and clarification.
What Popular Vote Loser Trump continues to fail to understand, as even a bad high school student might, is that no statute can grant POTUS the power to violate the Consritution. Stupid is as stupid does.
Hey Bluto,
Are you a ****ing moron? In case you haven't heard, the president is not chosen by the popular vote, never has been, and probably never will be.
DJT
6;48, don't worry. Popular Vote Loser Trump also is a loser on several other ways.. He's very versatile,
