THE STORM’S COMING: WHAT EXACTLY DID STORMY DANIELS MEAN ON SNL?

For months now, most Americans have been wondering about the Stormy Daniels connection to Donald Trump. The mystifying part is that Trump, the ultimate return puncher has not been as mean and nasty to Daniels as he has to other people who have attacked him. My heavens, compare what he said about John McCain, the father of an Iraq War deceased veteran, the women who spoke out about the Hollywood Access tape, with his light touch with Daniels. That has been uncharacteristic of Trump and people wondered why.
Then when you see the omnipresence of Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti and his seemingly Trump like quality for meeting the President toe to toe in cultivation of media, one wonders what Daniels has on Trump. Surely the parade of women who he threatened to sue would be enough to rock his marriage. The fact that this one night stand would shake him is confusing.
But then word comes from Avenatti himself about a fund that Trump’s Attorney Michael Cohen controlled that is in my mind is a type of blockbuster. There was a CNN story but the big news cam from Daniels’ lawyer.
These stories, not from a website, but from Avenatti himself about a fund that Trump’s
Michael Avenatti alleged that Cohen received half a million dollars from a company affiliated with Vekselberg in the months after the presidential election.
Avenatti alleged the $500,000 went into the bank account for Essential Consultants, a shell company that Cohen set up before the election that was used to pay Daniels. Avenatti added that the payments occurred from January to August 2017.
The key thing here is that Mueller's team will now have questions about the Russian oligarch’s payments to Cohen after the election.
To me there are many coincidences and dots that seem connected. The timing of Daniels’ Attorney’s release of this information is too close to the warning Daniels gave on Saturday Night Live just the other night. More mud in the water or a prediction of more to come for this beleaguered President? We shall see.

TRUMP DESTABILIZES MIDEAST

Like a spiteful child, President Trump pulled out of the Iran accord that was painstakingly put together by the last administration. Trump blathered on about how peace could be restored and war could be avoided. Really? Since the Iran accords were signed, there has been no big violence in the Mideast. By Trump pointing a finger to the Islamic Republic's role as a sponsor of militant groups throughout the Middle East and making sure reinstating key sanctions on Iran that had been waived is downright dangerous. By doing so, this imbecile is setting the stage for Iran to make an actual push toward an atomic device.
This is not just me. European officials made that argument over the past few months. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and others urged Trump to preserve the nuclear deal. The worked to address other points of contention, chiefly Iran's ballistic missile program, which is not covered by the agreement, as well as its destabilizing role in the region.
But instead of building a united front with Europe, Trump may be driving a wedge between Washington and its traditional transatlantic partners. In a joint message, European leaders said that they would attempt to stick to the deal, no matter Trump's decision. And Iranian officials said they would engage in talks with the deal's remaining signatories in a bid to keep it going.

A.J. MUNCHAK RELEASED

Former Lackawanna County Commissioner A.J. Munchak was released from prison this week. Munchak now is free to navigate wherever he wants. The former Accountant was caught up in the Cordaro scandal and served his time. If he returns north from Florida, wonder if they’ll roll out the yellow ribbons.
I wish my good friend Pete, aka The Sarge was alive to see A.J. come home. A.J. and Cordaro offered The Sarge a plush job for helping them in the campaign but The Sarge demurred saying he wasn’t qualified for the position because he had no training for it.
I’m sure the reunion would have been great. The Sarge, a Vietnam Vet never bought the Orlando tune for Vietnam vets but I’m sure if he were around, he’s put a small ribbon out for his friend A.J.

CAN ELLSWORTH DO IT???

There is now some talk that Attorney Laura Ellsworth has emerged as a viable alternative to Republican candidates for Governor Scott Wagner and Paul Mango. Again, newspaper endorsements aren’t the end all and be all they used to be but this is not your usual campaign.
This past weekend marked an uptick in the increased momentum for Laura Ellsworth, as she gained the endorsements of both The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Patriot-News.
Shortly after both endorsements, the campaign dropped another half-million dollars on television to get the message out statewide. Internal polls not only show Laura surging, they show that nearly a third of primary voters still aren’t sold on the two more widely advertised candidate.. With the candidates in a race, anything can happen.
