THE GOP IN THE LAC TELL CUMMINGS NO

Laureen Cummings and Kelly Anne Conway  (Photo: LuLac archives)
The first woman ever elected as a Lackawanna County Commissioner was denied an endorsement by her party. Laureen Cummings was told no by the committee who backed the team of Giannetta and Chermak for the nod.
Cummings was non plussed saying that 35 people voted against her but the other Republicans in Lackawanna County will give her the nod.
A former luLac Women We Love, Cummings has formed alliances with former GOP turned Dem Pat O’Malley and there have been so accomplishments.
But her votes with O’Malley in denying Evie Refalko McNulty a position after her name was being put on the door and then hiring a long time GOP lackey who later got pinched for sexual harassment in a discount grocery store showed pretty bad judgment.
Plus her die hard support of Diaper Don as well as her reactionary comments on social issues has not been popular. In the team of Mike Gianetta and Chris Chermak, the GOP wants to make a strong stand against the disorganized Democratic Party. In the Commissioners race on the D side it looks like every person for themselves.

WOLOVICH RUNS FOR COUNTY COUNCIL

Gregory Wolovich (Photo: LuLac archives)
Gregory S. Wolovich Jr., of Hanover Township, has announced he is running for Luzerne County Council as a Republican.
A lifelong county resident, Wolovich, 26, graduated from GAR Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre and obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting from King’s College.
Wolovich has worked in customer service at Wegmans for eight years and at the Wegmans Retail Service Center for over three years. He is currently a Quality Assurance Technician, ensuring products meet USDA and FDA standards to safeguard the public from food quality issues.
“This involves meticulous inspection of each and every product that makes its way to nearly 50 stores on the east coast,” he wrote. “With this mindset, I would bring a great deal of scrutiny to the county budget, making sure our residents are getting the best quality for their hard earned investment in the county.”
Wolovich also says his knowledge of accounting procedures and the importance of ethics from his education at Kings College will go hand in hand with managing the county budget.
Hs stated finding ways to work with local legislators and community outreach programs is essential to working on issues such as mental health awareness and fighting the opioid epidemic. "At the county level, working together with my colleagues and other local representatives is the only way to find collective solutions to the issues facing our communities."
Wolovich is also a member of the F.O.E. and the Sons of the American Legion.
He has posted campaign information at “Greg Wolovich for Luzerne County Council” on Facebook.

TIMES LEADER WILKES-BARRE MAYOR'S RACE DEBATE

We tried to get an invite, were told no. Apparently the other paper in town was told not to come. So here's the link to the Times Leader because that's all anybody has. https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/741914/wilkes-barre-mayoral-candidates-square-off-at-times-leader-media-group-debate.

BARR SHOWS HIMSELF TO BE A TRUMP BOOT LICKER
When the history of the Trump administration is written, Robert Barr will go down as one of the victims of Trump. After a decent record with Bush 41, Barr has succumbed to the evil that is Trump and the new GOP. Like Trump, the AG has played the role of bully in public but pu*** as a man.
Nancy Pelosi has called him out for what he is, a coward who has sold his soul at the altar of Donald Trump. The fact that Barr has not let lawyers question him tell you how weak he is. It was okay for the lawyers to question Brett Kavanaugh's accuser, Dr. Ford for hours. Also fine for them to grill Hillary Clinton for 11 hours on Benghazi but little Bobby Barr can't stand the heat. A Trump protege. Bully and coward when it comes to being a real man.

REP. CARTWRIGHT’S BILL TO REVITALIZE COAL COMMUNITIES MOVES FORWARD IN CONGRESS
HOUSE COMMITTEE ADVANCES RECLAIM ACT, BIPARTISAN LEGISLATION TO SPUR INVESTMENT IN COAL COUNTRY
Congressman Matt Cartwright (Photo: LuLac archives)
This week, the Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives voted in favor of the RECLAIM Act, a bill proposed by Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA-08) to advance economic development by helping communities revitalize lands that have been adversely affected by coal mining.
“The RECLAIM Act is a job-creating bill that will lead to economic development, clean water and lands, and a fresh start for communities in Pennsylvania and across the country,” said Congressman Cartwright. “I thank my colleagues in the Natural Resources committee for advancing legislation that will have a positive impact on countless Americans.”
The Revitalizing the Economy of Coal Communities by Leveraging Local Activities and Investing More Act (RECLAIM) Act will accelerate the investment of $1 billion in unappropriated funds, giving states the tools they need to invest in the communities that have been negatively impacted by the closure of coal mines. By allowing communities to decide for themselves how to apply their funds, the RECLAIM Act is adaptable across the Appalachia.
Specifically, the RECLAIM Act will allow local communities to revitalize lands previously occupied by coal mining companies. The funds may be used to restore land and water resources adversely affected by past coal mining; to seal and fill abandoned deep mine entries and voids; to plant land and prevent erosion and sedimentation; and to treat water pollution created by coal mine drainage.
The RECLAIM Act has been endorsed by several national organizations, including Appalachian Citizens’ Law Center, Appalachian Region Independent Power Producers Association (ARIPPA), Appalachian Voices, Aquashicola-Pohopoco Watershed Conservancy, Babb Creek Watershed Association, Inc., BlueGreen Alliance, Catawissa Creek Restoration Association, Centone Pictures, LLC., Citizens Coal Council, Diné Citizens Against Ruining our Environment, Earthjustice, Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation (EPCAMR), Environmental Justice Center at Chestnut Hill United Church, Foundation for PA Watersheds, Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Mahanoy Creek Watershed Association, National Wildlife Federation, OVEC-Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, PennEnvironment, PennFuture, Pocono Heritage Land Trust, Prairie Rivers Network, Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance, Sierra Club, Schuylkill Headwaters Association, Statewide Organizing for Community eMpowerment, The Alliance for Appalachia, The Wilderness Society, Union of Concerned Scientists, Voices for Progress, West Virginia Council of Churches, Western Colorado Alliance for Community Action, Western Organization of Resource Councils, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Western Pocono Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Wiconisco Creek Restoration Association Inc.

James Chichester-Clark was selected as the new Prime Minister of Northern Ireland by being selected as the new leader of the Ulster Unionist Party in voting by the 33 members of the Parliament of Northern Ireland. Chichester-Clark was selected over party rival Brian Faulkner by a margin of one vote (17 to 16), and took office immediately to replace outgoing prime minister Terence O'Neill. The world's newest ocean liner, Queen Elizabeth 2 of the Cunard Line, set off from Southampton on its maiden voyage with 1,000 passengers and 400 crew. The $72,000,000 ship made the first private use of a satellite Global Positioning System, relying on "four U.S. Navy satellites to pinpoint her position within 100 feet" for navigation An Associated Press reporter commented days later, "it means the days of dead reckoning and sextant are over." The "QE2", commanded by Captain William Warwick, arrived at New York City on May 7 and docked at the West 52nd Street pier.

In a repeat of the previous season's finals, the Montreal Canadiens completed a four game sweep of the National Hockey League's best-of-seven championship series to win the Stanley Cup. The Canadiens defeated the St. Louis Blues 2 to 1 before a St. Louis crowd of 16,126 fans. The Blues had taken a 1-0 lead midway through the second period, but Montreal's Harris and Ferguson scored back-to-back goals in the first three minutes of the final stanza.

The Boston Celtics won the National Basketball Association (NBA) championship by two points in the seventh game of the best-of-seven series, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 108 to 106. The Lakers had overcome a 17-point deficit in the game's final 10 minutes, closing from being down 100-83 to within one point (103-102) before falling behind again 108-102. During the 1960s, with the exception of the 1966-1967 season, the Celtics won nine of the ten championships played during the decade.......Thirty-four servicemen were killed, and 35 others injured, in the most deadly helicopter crash of the Vietnam War when the U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook helicopter experienced mechanical failure while flying near Khe Sanh. All but two of the dead were South Vietnamese Army infantrymen and officers; the other fatalities were the American helicopter crew…in Pennsylvania Senator Hugh Scott says he supports the Nixon administration effort in Vietnam….and in Wilkes Barre the Cherry Blossom Festival is a huge success and fifty years ago this week the number one song in LuLac land and America was "Love (Can Make You Happy)" by Mercy.

Oh my, Kelly anne Conway, the habitual liar is of no help to Cummings. The Dems in The Lac were smart enough not to vote for Trump.

Considering the Lac Republicans are the same ones who put Frank "Donnie" Scavo on a state rep ticket, I am kind of shocked they are trying to oust that crazy GILF Laureen.
Thanks to social media and what is left of local coverage at WILK she will still have a platform, but I am gonna be sad if we don't get a regular fill of her incredible, edible gams...
