IOWA RESULTS AND WHAT THEY MEAN
NUTHIN’!!!

Iowa has proven its ineffective, inefficient and impotent caucus system is not representative of the way elections should go.
It is way too complicated in a world where voting should be easy.
To think that this state with a population of 85% white people is representative of this entire country is a travesty.
It’s time for Presidential candidates to follow what Al Gore did in ‘88 and Bloomberg did this year: IGNORE THEM.
Leave them to their deep fried Oreos and 🌽 and run in a real election with one ballot and one candidate per vote.

PUNY PAT ON IMPEACHMENT

This week I got this e mail from Senator Pat Toomey explaining his vote on Impeachment. Puny Pat of course sent it through a no reply e mail. Here’s what the Fidget Spinner champion wrote and my response.
This week, the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump continued. During the proceedings, senators viewed 192 video clips of witness testimony, had access to 28,000 pages of documents, heard over 30 hours of arguments, and received answers to over 150 questions.
Kudos to your staff for compiling those numbers for you. But how would you know because you were playing with your toys and dispensing Hershey kisses to your fellow Trump ass kissers!
On Friday evening, a majority of the Senate decided that it is not necessary to hear from additional witnesses in the trial beyond the 17 that testified already in the House impeachment proceedings.
This is what happens when Pennsylvania elects a restaurant manager and not a lawmaker. Every impeachment trial had a witness. If you are on a jury (which I don’t think you have the brains enough to realize you are on one!) you look into the eyes of the witnesses and get a read on whether they are telling the truth. But I think you are afraid of the truth.
The purpose of a witness is to shed light on an important fact that could resolve a disputed issue and help determine the final outcome of the case. In my view, the House has brought forward articles of impeachment that do not justify removing President Trump from office, nullifying the results of the 2016 election, and denying Americans the right to vote for him in the next election. As a result, additional witnesses beyond the 17 who testified in the House proceedings, are not necessary.
So Senator Toomey, conspiring with a foreign country to undermine our Democratic process is not worthy of impeachment? Nullifying the 2016 election? Senator with all due respect this is the most moronic response I have ever heard. Even if your boy Diaper Don got impeached, your Republican party would have the Presidency. Maybe you just weren’t paying attention in civics classes.
Mr. Toomey, you are unworthy of the title of Senator and should resign NOW for dereliction of duties. If you decline, you will be voted out in 2022. Then you can go back and do the work you are truly qualified for.

CARTWRIGHT HIGHLIGHTS GRANT PROGRAM TO HELP LOCAL FIRE COMPANIES UPGRADE EQUIPMENT
FEMA PROGRAM APPLICATION PERIOD OPENS NEXT WEEK
Representative Matt Cartwright (Photo: LuLac archives)
U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the fiscal year 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) application period will open on Monday,
“The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is a critical resource for first responders and the communities they serve,” said Rep. Cartwright, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. “With these funds, they can purchase much-needed emergency response equipment, personal protective equipment, firefighting and emergency vehicles, and training resources. Our firefighters put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe, and they should have the best tools as they carry out their important work. I strongly encourage our local fire companies to apply for these grants.”
The application period opens Monday, February 3, 2020, at 8:00 AM ET. and end on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 5:00 PM ET. Interested applicants can begin preparing now by reviewing the guidance materials available on the FEMA website: https://www.fema.gov/welcome-assistance-firefighters-grant-program.
This year, the application is only available via the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program’s FEMA GO (FEMA Grants Outcomes) application portal, at https://go.fema.gov. FEMA will hold live webinar walk-throughs every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during the application period to help applicants navigate the new online application. A more detailed webinar schedule can be found at https://www.fema.gov/afgp-workshop-schedule.
The purpose of FEMA’s AFG program is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards. To accomplish this goal, FEMA awards competitive grants directly to eligible fire departments, non-affiliated emergency medical service (EMS) organizations, and State Fire Training Academies (SFTA) for critical training and equipment.
Applicants with questions can contact Congressman Cartwright’s Economic Development Director, April Niver, at 484-523-5314 or the AFG Help Desk at firegrants@fema.gov or 1-866-274-0960.

Joe Shortstoryscribe Leonardi This is another flaw caused by amending a Constitution that did not take political parties into consideration, and was written in a way to avoid political parties.
People get all worked up about this kind of stuff, but there is no constitutional provision for a primary/caucus, and the primaries are not about the citizens as a whole. They exist for "the party" to pick their nominee. Each state "party," not the state government, is left to make their own rules. Which is why they should not be taxpayer funded. And, it is why some state parties, when the sitting president is pretty much unopposed, choose to cancel their presidential primary/caucus,from the ballot.
A state primary/caucus,isn't about being representative of the country, it is about representing the state political party, not even the entire citizenry of the state. The primary purpose is choosing delegates to send to the national convention to choose the party nominee for the Constitutionally provided for general election in November.
The importance given to them as the first, is a media creation, which candidates seized upon to give momentum to their campaign for next primary or caucus.
And, I'm sorry Dave, but arguing to dumb something down, says a lot about our country, and what it is saying isn't all that great. Kind of sad that you are stating to make something fair in the United States, we have to make it simplistic because we aren't capable of complex, logical reasoning. (???)
I discuss a lot of the conflict with the party system and the Constitution in One Day I Was.

What an absolute disaster. You just know that Trump is going to say, "the biggest threat to our elections is the Democrats... they don't even know how to count a vote!"

Well said. I think, David, it became a media event; before 1972, it was a good rural state -wide way of “divining” the will of the people, but didn’t fit nationally (but McGovern grab the ring and ran with it) and then it gained a momentum of its own. That momentum came to an end tonight, i think.

Changing it woul be up to the state's Republican and Democratic parties. Primaries are a party function.
