TRUMP LOSES AGAIN, BIDEN GAINS VOTES IN ARIZONA
After all the “audits” of the voting in Arizona, it was revealed today that President Joe Biden remains the winner in that state. As a matter of fact, Diaper Don lost votes in the recount. But this is not over. The knuckleheads in the Pennsylvania legislature want to do the same thing. My question is if they couldn’t make up a margin in Arizona by PROVING any type of miscounts or fraud, how the hell can they do it in Pennsylvania where Biden beat baby poop pant by 80,000 votes. Folks, the game here is not to rehash 2020 but to put doubt on 2024 when Trump and his Tru,panzees can sow doubt on the process.
A few things about Pennsylvania.
1. If there was fraud then we should call for the two state row officers who won on the Republican side to resign. After all, how ca you have fraud in one race and not the other?
Recently minted State Senator Marty Flynn had some thoughts on the Pennsylvania proposed subpoena that would but everyone who voted last time at risk for a financial invasion of their privacy. Here’s what he said to his constituents, Democrats, Republicans and Independents.
Pennsylvania Senate Republicans want to give your private information to an undisclosed third party; we have to let them know we won't let their misguided partisan politics get in the way of our privacy. The actions of Senate Republicans to request state election officials to turn over the driver’s license numbers and social security numbers of the almost 7 million Pennsylvanians who voted in the November 2020 election needs to be stopped. I joined my Democratic Senate colleagues in filing a lawsuit on Friday, September 17, to protect voter freedom and safeguard the personal information of all voters in Pennsylvania. BANNON ADMITS TO TREASON
Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon admitted on his podcast that he told President Trump to "kill this administration in the crib early on" ahead of the Biden presidency and the Jan. 6 insurrection.
"We said and told President Trump you need to kill this administration in the crib early on just by its own incompetence and its illegitimacy," Bannon said on Wednesday's episode of his podcast.
"It killed itself," Bannon continued. "Just let this go with what this illegitimate regime is doing. It killed itself. We told you from the very beginning. Just expose it. Just expose it. Never back down. Never give up. This thing will implode."
Bannon's comments follow reporting from the new book "Peril," by Watergate journalist Bob Woodward and The Washington Post's Robert Costa, in which Bannon expresses similar sentiment to then-President Trump ahead of the Jan. 6 insurrection. "He's also someone who we realized was talking to President Trump in the final days of the Trump presidency," Costa said on MSNBC speaking of Bannon. "Talking to President Trump even on Jan. 5, the eve of the insurrection and saying to President Trump, based on our reporting, to kill the Biden presidency in the crib."
If this wasn’t an admission of incitement, I have no idea just what is.
TRUMP BLASTS FELLOW ENABLERS FOR SUPPORTING CRIME OF THE CENTURY
Former President Donald Trump continued his baseless and disproven claims that he lost the 2020 general election to President Joe Biden due to election fraud. In a statement released late Wednesday, he directed his unique brand of political bile at two Republican Senators, Mike Lee and Lindsey Graham, who were each loyal allies to the White House during Trump’s one term.
At issue are revelations in a new book co-written by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa Peril that report that both Senators Lee and Graham personally vetted Trump’s election fraud claims and found them lacking merit. As The Washington Post reports:
Graham and Lee, both of whom ultimately voted to certify the results, took the claims of election fraud seriously enough to get briefed on the details, involve their senior staff and call state officials throughout the country. But privately, Graham gave the arguments a withering assessment, according to the book, saying they were suitable for “third grade.”
Predictably Diaper Don attacked his two supporters who only told the truth that their lord and master, Diaper Don doesn’t see. It is astounding to me that people who have stood with Trump beyond reason allow this pig bully to insult and belittle them. It’s like they sent their balls to UPS.(AP, LuLac)
GOV. WOLF, LAWMAKERS DISCUSS VIOLENCE INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR PA COMMUNITIES
Governor Tom Wolf (Photo: LuLac archives)
Governor Tom Wolf today joined state lawmakers to remind communities and organizations that $24 million in state funding is available to address community violence.
“We cannot overstate how painful and damaging gun violence is to our communities. The fear, stress and grief gun violence leaves in its wake hurts every member of our communities,” Gov. Wolf said. “This funding will provide communities and organizations with resources to implement or support programs that are tackling community violence. I’m grateful to those who are taking steps every day to keep their communities safe and I urge them to apply for this opportunity.”
As administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) funding is intended to support effective local intervening and preventative measures to stop gun and group violence in regions that are experiencing high rates of violent crime.
“Stemming the violence in our neighborhoods requires coordination and determination at every level, but most importantly in our neighborhoods. By focusing at ground level, funding will be able to hit the streets quickly and reach people one by one,” said state Senator Vincent Hughes. “Our caucus has helped make these resources available and I encourage community organizations and on-the-ground leaders to apply for these funds.”
Community-based organizations, institutions of higher education, municipalities, district attorneys and counties are eligible to apply. Awards will range from maximum budgets of $50,000 to $2,000,000 for project periods spanning up to two years (24 months). Awards are tiered to reflect the applicant’s size and service area. More detailed information about the application process can be found in the Violence Prevention and Intervention (VIP) Funding Announcement on PCCD’s website. The deadline to apply is October 15.
“Gun violence has been labeled a public health crisis, some would say a public health emergency, and as such we need to coordinate resources and treat it as such,” said state Representative Donna Bullock. “Last week there was an afterschool shooting just mere steps from my 10 year-old son’s school, and an early morning shooting in the school yard of the elementary school near my home. As a member of the Governor’s School Safety and Security Committee, I am committed to getting state resources out to those on the frontlines of this public health crisis quickly and efficiently.”
Addressing the scourge of gun violence is a top priority for Governor Wolf. In 2019, he signed an Executive Order creating the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and a Special Council on Gun Violence within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, as well as the Division of Violence Prevention within the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
As a result of recommendations of the council, PCCD had prioritized available funding to support direct, multi-year grants to organizations implementing gun violence prevention/intervention models. In June, the governor signed the 2021-22 state budget, which included an additional $30 million for VIP grants.
REP. CARTWRIGHT: CHILD TAX CREDIT DELIVERED $30.8 MILLION IN TAX CUTS TO PA-08 FAMILIES IN AUGUST
ACCORDING TO NEW REPORT, CHILD TAX CREDIT TAX CUTS ARE GENERATING NEARLY $20 BILLION IN LOCAL ECONOMIC ACTIVITY EACH MONTH NATIONWIDE, SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES AND JOBS
Congressman Matt Cartwright (Photo: LuLac archives)
U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) announced that an estimated 96,000 Child Tax Credit monthly tax cut payments were sent to families in the Eighth Congressional District in August, according to a new report from the Joint Economic Committee. An estimated total of $30.8 million in tax cuts went back into the pockets of hardworking Northeastern Pennsylvania families.
Across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 1.3 million tax cut payments went to families in August for a total of $554.2 million. The average payment was $424. Nationwide, the Joint Economic Committee estimates the Child Tax Credit tax cuts are pumping $19.3 billion into local economies each month.
The next payments will be sent out on Wednesday, September 15.
“This tax cut for working families through the American Rescue Plan is helping tens of thousands of Northeastern Pennsylvania families catch up on bills and pay for things like child care, gas and groceries, while supporting local jobs and businesses,” said Rep. Cartwright.
Using state-level data from the Treasury Department on advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments, the Joint Economic Committee estimated the number of qualifying children, total number of payments, and total payment amount by congressional district in August 2021, when the second round of CTC payments was distributed.
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) dramatically increased the value of the CTC, from $2,000 per child to up to $3,600 per child under six and $3,000 per child six and older. The ARP also expanded the CTC so that it is now fully refundable, and previously ineligible low-income families will receive the full credit. Half of the expanded CTC will be distributed in advance via monthly payments, helping families meet their financial needs in real time. JEC analysis of data from the Census Bureau show the expanded CTC is already having a major impact on family budgets, with dramatic declines in food insufficiency and financial hardship, and the JEC estimates that monthly CTC payments will inject nearly $19.3 billion into local economies each month.
State Data
In Pennsylvania, 2,210,000 children qualified for advance CTC payments in August, according to data from the Treasury Department. Households in the state received 1,307,000 payments,
totaling $554.2 million. The average payment per household was $424.
In the 8th
Congressional district there were 123,000 qualifying children, with 69,000 payments for a total of 30.8 million dollars.
FOLLOWING MULTIPLE REQUESTS FROM CASEY AND WYDEN, CMS IS NOW PUBLISHING DATA UPDATED BIWEEKLY ON CARE COMPARE
Senator Bob Casey (Photo: LuLac archives)
U.S. Senate Aging Committee Chair Bob Casey (D-PA) and Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) applauded the Biden Administration for publishing user-friendly data on the rate of COVID-19 vaccinations among residents and workers at more than 15,000 individual nursing homes across the country. The move comes after multiple requests from Senators Casey and Wyden to put this data in the hands of nursing home residents, workers and families.
“Patients, families and workers deserve transparent and timely data on vaccination rates in nursing homes,” said Senator Casey. “I applaud the Biden Administration for putting COVID-19 vaccine data at the fingertips of nursing home residents and their families, which will help them make better-informed decisions about their care, and allow nursing home workers to better gauge the safety of their work. COVID-19 devastated nursing homes, and my hope is that this important transparency measure will help make this important part of the health care system a safer place to receive care and work.”
“This important step will help families easily access key data about the safety of their loved ones,” said Senator Wyden. “COVID-19 caused untold tragedy for hundreds of thousands of Americans living and working in nursing homes. With these easy to access tools, families will no longer have to wonder how safe a prospective or current nursing home might be for their loved ones.”
On September 10, 2021, Senators Casey and Wyden called for improving consumer access to COVID-19 vaccine data in nursing homes by placing it on Care Compare, the one-stop shop for consumers seeking to find out more information about providers participating in the Medicare program. Senator Casey also authored an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer calling for the Administration to act. In March 2021, the senators called on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to collect and release this data, which the Biden Administration began doing in June—however, the data was previously hosted on separate websites that were difficult to navigate. The senators first called for nursing home COVID-19 vaccine data to be collected and published in December 2020, at the time vaccines for the disease first became available.
Nearly 200,000 people living and working in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities have died from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. Senators Casey and Wyden have been pushing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to increase transparency about the impact of COVID-19 in nursing homes since early 2020, when they first called on the Trump Administration to publish data about infections, deaths and shortages of workers and supplies.
MEDIA MATTERS
WILK: A TALE OF TWO CALLERS
On Wednesday morning, WILK’s Morning team of Nancy and Jason took two phone calls. They were like night and day. The duo spoke to a Barbara who was rude, ignorant and extremely defensive. She made up false claims about the vaccine (I think this loser also claimed to be a retired nurse) and would not even engage Nancy when she tried to reason with her. She immediately barked saying the co host was biased assuming that Kman only watched MSNBC and CNN. After repeated attempts to get this slob to at least listen, Barsky jumped in and ended her nonsense with what he called her “dribble”. Barsky finally ended the call. Barbara is indicative of what passes for the intelligence of the average WILK listener.
In the next hour a guy named Joe from Pittston called and advised that he took the vaccine, was happy to be alive, enjoyed every kind of weather and complimented Nancy and Jason for their even handed approach to their broadcast. He then said that after 9am, WILK hosts were not at all objective and it was tough to listen between 9am and 6pm to the rest of the line up. Kman responded that even though Joe felt that way, there were many callers who told the station they liked those riht wing hosts. WILK has a constituency of Comnservative listeners and they must cater to them. But Joe has a point.
Nikki Stone is still finding her way as a full time host. Bob Cordaro is saying stuff like “We have to save the country” (I ask from what?) or “We have to take our country back!” (presumably to the 1950s when everyone was white and right, he never really specifies what the USA needs to be saved from. Then there’s former Democratic State Representative Frank Andrews who has a fixation of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki where he constantly plays her news conferences in the hopes of justifying his sudden right wing conversion. What Frank doesn’t realize is every time he challenges Psaki, thinking listeners only gravitate to her common sense and dare I say, his nonsense. WILK is a heavy lift for those who aren’t Treumpanzees, anti-vaccine people or just bitter listeners. The rest of us who scratch our heads and just wonder whether this is still the Valley with a Heart or the Valley of the Un-smart!
RADIO HOME VISITOR HONORED ALONG WITH ITS LATE FOUNDER
The Peace and Justice Center held their annual meeting the other night at Newberry Estates and I was so very proud to be wearing three hats as a representative of the city of Wilkes-Barre, the NAACP branch and as an alumni of WRKC FM Radio. The organization bestowed the David Frey Community Service for Peace Award to the Radio Home Visitor. Founded in 1974, the Visitor is the oldest running radio broadcast for the visually impaired in the country. For 47 years, not one broadcast was missed. Through the years, a cadre of volunteers along with its founder, Father Tom Carten read The Citizens’ Voice newspaper to the home bound and impaired. Father Carten passed away on Christmas Eve in 2020 due to CoVid.
Father Carten was an inspirational priest but also a quiet teacher of practical broadcasting etiquette. “The only thing that matters is what comes out of that speaker”. Or “Always, always assume that every microphone is live”. Sue Henry accepted the award along with longtime volunteer and Carten friend Cindy Szumigala.
From left to right in this photo: Sue Henry, Cindy Szumgala, back row David S. Yonki, Robert “Mango” Manfre and Patrick “Nosmo King” Fadden, all King’s College and WRKC FM alumni. We have the photo in black and white because.......well those are the colors of the newspaper we read.
