MEUSER AND KELLER TACITLY ENDORSE

DEATH THREATS ON FELLOW MEMBERS

The House voted Wednesday to censure Rep. Paul Gosar after the Arizona Republican posted a violent cartoon video that depicted him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and attacking President Biden.  The resolution passed 223-207, with just two Republicans — Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois — joining all 221 Democrats voting in favor of Gosar’s censure. Rep. Dave Joyce, R-Ohio, who sits on the House Ethics Committee, voted “present.” Three Republicans did not vote. Once more Meuser and Keller took their party line. Imagine if a Democrat did that, their leaer Kevin McCarthy would be screaming bloody murder. But these “snowflakes” have no back bone or core conscious in them.

THOM WELBY TAKES OFFICE

WNEP TV reports that State Rep. Thom Welby, (D) Lackawanna County, was sworn in on Wednesday in Harrisburg to represent the 113th District in the State House. He will replace his former boss, now-senator Marty Flynn, who was elected to the State Senate after Sen. John Blake stepped down at the beginning of the year. Welby will finish out Flynn's term, which ends next November.

Welby, from Scranton, worked in radio and TV broadcasting for 40 years before serving as chief of staff for former Rep. Marty Flynn for nine years before succeeding him as a state representative.  Welby has volunteered on many boards and nonprofit organizations throughout northeastern Pennsylvania for more than 30 years. The 113th Legislative District includes part of Lackawanna County, consisting of Scranton, South Abington Township, and Clarks Green. The district also includes the Scranton School District and Abington School District.

Welby has knowledge, passion and a gift for empathy for those with less. He will do a great hob.

MEUSER ON INFRASTRUCTURE

Meuser and his master.

The Congressman who voted AGAINST his own certification in the last election (so does that make him a wanna be Congressman??) said that he strongly supported a stand alone infrastructure bill FOR MONTHS with his colleges that would have benefited Pennsylvania and the American people. Okay Dan, JUST WHAT WAS IT? The Trump version? Your own version?  He didn’t say.

He the went on to say he could only support 20% of the bill because that’s what he liked but the rest of it he felt could be detrimental to America. Let’s see, internet access for rural communities? Better bridges and roads? Replacing lead pipes? Meuser has sided with the obstructionists and non patriots in the Capitol who tell you they are Christians but routinely genuflect in front of THEIR lord and savior Donald Trump.

MARTY FLYNN ON THE BIDEN BI PARTISAN BILL

Senator Marty Flynn (Photo: LuLac archives)

State Senator Marty Flynn made this comment about the Presidents Infrastructure bill. Congress passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal earlier this month, investing in our city’s roads, bridges, and public transportation in a way we’ve never done before now. What makes this deal bipartisan isn’t the people who voted on it. It’s bipartisan because of the people it affects. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will help every single person in this country. For some, it will make their drive to work a little smoother or make their wireless internet a bit faster. For others, it will fundamentally change their lives, creating good-paying union jobs for them, providing them with the means to get to work or attend school, or making their air and water cleaner and less polluted.

In short, it’s a long overdue investment in our nation’s middle class, helping solve problems we face today while greatly benefiting future generations. Instead of looking out for corporations, we’re finally looking out for the American people.

REP. CARTWRIGHT: RELIEF AVAILABLE TO HELP PA FAMILIES COVER ENERGY COSTS THIS WINTER

FEDERAL INVESTMENTS WILL HELP

HARDWORKING PENNSYLVANIANS

AFFORD

HEATING, UTILITY COSTS AND ENERGY

 REPAIRS

Congressman Matt Cartwright (Photo: LuLac archives)

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright  announced that assistance is available to help hardworking Pennsylvania families with energy costs this winter through the Department of Health and Human Services’ Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). As Americans continue to deal with the impacts of the pandemic, LIHEAP grantees will be able to use the funding to help more than 5 million households nationwide stay warm this winter, cover utility costs and pay for energy repairs.

Local families who need assistance should click on the link below  to learn more about LIHEAP in Pennsylvania.

“Heat in the winter is an essential here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and families should not have to worry about how they’re going to stay warm through the colder months,” said Rep. Cartwright. “As hardworking Pennsylvanians continue to recover from the pandemic, this investment will help everyday Americans afford energy costs and pay for much-needed repairs.”

These LIHEAP funds are in addition to $297,671,482 Pennsylvania received in May from the American Rescue Plan to help cover energy costs during the summer months.

CASEY DELIVERS KEY INFRASTRUCTURE WINS FOR PENNSYLVANIA IN BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW

PA SENIOR SENATOR SECURES RESOURCES

TO IMPROVE PA ROADS, BRIDGES, MORE

Senator Bob Casey (Photo: LuLac archives)

U.S. Senator Bob Casey  released the following statement after President Biden signed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law. The law will bring billions of dollars to Pennsylvania to improve roads and bridges, increase access to public transportation, build out clean energy infrastructure, expand broadband and more.

“Today, President Biden fulfilled his promise to the American people by signing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law. This bipartisan legislation will make transportation easier, safer and more sustainable. It will expand broadband access, invest in climate mitigation and provide many Pennsylvanians with clean drinking water. These investments will support the economic growth of small towns across the Nation, and rural and urban areas alike. Next, the Senate has to finish work on legislation to support families and address the rising costs that they face, such as investing in home and community-based services for seniors and people with disabilities, raising wages for home care workers, expanding access to early childhood education and affordable child care, cutting taxes for families with kids and lowering health care costs,” said Senator Casey.

Repairing Roads and Bridges

In Pennsylvania, there are more than 3,300 bridges and over 7,540 miles of highway in poor condition. Since 2011, commute times have increased by 7.6% in Pennsylvania, and on average, each driver pays $620 per year in costs due to driving on roads in need of repair. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will send $11.3 billion to Pennsylvania for federal-aid highway programs and $1.6 billion for bridge replacement and repairs over 5 years.

Improving Sustainable Transportation

Pennsylvania can expect $2.8 billion over five years to improve public transportation across the Commonwealth, meaning reliable transit for workers and families.

Expanding Broadband

Under this legislation, Pennsylvania will receive a minimum of $100 million to help provide broadband coverage to the more than 390,000 Pennsylvanians currently living without it, while another $37 billion will be allocated across the Nation—including in Pennsylvania—utilizing a needs-based formula. Among other critical broadband provisions, this legislation will also provide $30 monthly broadband subsidies for families struggling to afford reliable broadband service.

Developing Pennsylvania’s Clean Energy Options

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provides funding for the first-ever national network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers, including $171 million for Pennsylvania to expand its EV charging network and lead efforts to address the climate crisis and support American manufacturing jobs.

Replacing Lead Pipes and Delivering Clean Drinking Water

Too many families don’t have access to clean drinking water. According to recent studies, Pennsylvania has roughly 160,000 lead service lines. This legislation would send $1.4 billion to Pennsylvania to replace lead pipes, improve water infrastructure and deliver clean, safe drinking water across the Commonwealth.

Advancing Climate Adaptation, Mitigation and Resilience

Communities across the Nation have experienced the increasingly dire effects of the climate crisis, such as floods, heat waves and droughts. From 2010 to 2020, Pennsylvania has experienced 37 of these extreme weather events, costing the state up to $10 billion in damages. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provides a $50 billion investment to enhance our Nation’s resilience to extreme weather events. Further, Pennsylvanians will benefit from the more than $3 billion national investment in energy efficiency and weatherization programs, which will reduce energy costs and improve families’ health and safety.

Improving Airports

Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, airports in Pennsylvania would receive approximately $355 million for infrastructure development over five years.

Reclaiming Abandoned Mines & Plugging Orphaned Wells

Abandoned mine land problem areas have been identified in 43 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties, accounting for more than $1 billion of high-priority reclamation needs across the Commonwealth. Under this legislation, Pennsylvania is expected to receive more than $3 billion to assist with abandoned mine reclamation. Additionally, this bill authorizes $4.7 billion nationwide to plug, remediate and reclaim orphaned wells. There are at least 8,000 documented orphan wells in Pennsylvania that will be able to be addressed under this program.

We oughta be more like them!” Sure dictatorships and strongman regimes are just fine. No welfare but no freedom to mouth off your stupid ass ignorant comments.
