GETTING RID OF MANCHIN

 

Joe Manchin has shown himself for what hreally is  a preening, self-important Coward. Manchin has wasted the time of Democrats in his own party. He has screwed the Progressive wing of the party and has said no to life changing opportunities for the middle class. That’s ironic since Manchin has come from the middle class. His parents were small business owners.

Why did Manchin vote no? Self-preservation. Manchin won re-election in 2018 with just over 50% of the vote. For him in a Red State, that was a squeaker. Politically I understand his personal concerns. But what I do not understand is how Manchin can say no  family leave, hearing aids for seniors, lower health care and tax credits for children.  Manchin voted for a Pentagon budget that would add 3 times more to the deficit than Build Back Better in 10 years. But there wasn’t a peep out of him with that.

The strategy of the Democratic party must be to use Manchin in its primary advertising as well as the general election. With polling with over 75% of the Build Back Better agenda, the focus should be on what Manchin VOTED AGAINST.

Sample ad:

A senior having to go into debt to get a hearing aid.

A young mother turning down a job because of insufficient child care.

Ads saying no universal Preschool for all 3- and 4-year Olds and expand access to free high-quality preschool for more than 6 million children.

Saying no to limit child care costs for families to no more than 7% of income, for families earning up to 250% of state median income. It enables states to expand access to about 20 million children. Parents must be working, seeking work, in training or taking care of a serious health issue.

Saying no to Affordable, High-Quality Care for Hundreds of Thousands of Older Americans and People with Disabilities in Their Homes and Communities.

Saying no to targeted incentives to spur new domestic supply chains and technologies, like solar, batteries, and advanced materials, while boosting the competitiveness of existing industries, like steel, cement, and aluminum.

Notice what the stock market did when Manchin voted no? The Dems need to play hard ball and call this bill to a vote. All of the Republicans who said no as well as Manchin should be on the record. Then during campaign 2022 in every Senate race, advertising should ruthlessly come after the NO NOTHINGS and slam them.

With Trump pushing forward right wingers, the time now is to get down and dirty and expose these hypocrites for who they are.

Manchin has one more chance to be on the right side of history. He can still redeem himself in the ees of many by helping to adjust the filibuster and be on the right side of Voting Rights. But as the son of Italian immigrants he has been infected with the “I got mine, now you get yours" mentality which in the short run might get him another term but be marked down as a sad, greedy, cowardly case for the history books.

The time to crush Joe Manchin is NOW. His threats in joining the GOP are hollow. He's already DONE IT!  Plus  he won't because he is not in tune with insurrection and vaccine deniers and will just be one of many.

 

JOHN THE INGRATE TALKS TO MY FRIEND BRIAN

Yesterday on WILK I tuned in to hear my friend Bran Hughes fill in for the  afternoon talk show host I will call The Mailman. (He has another 4 year contract so he’s just mailing it in on his show).

Brian was speaking to a guy named John who was whining about his $90.00 increase in Social Security. He said that the gas hikes would eat it up. Then he proceeded to talk about believing Joe Manchin, how Build Back Better was not good, and how the roads used to be good, taxes were low because people were working. He even repeated the Manchin mantra that people wouldn’t use the tax credit fr kids but for drugs. 

This call was emblematic of the older, entitled, ignorant  population in this area that has the “I got mine, now you shouldn’t have yours". 

This guy who is sitting fat and happy  with a $900.00 a month increase doesn’t want poor kids to get food, special needs kids to get seduction and see the sned for a change for the better in the country. But I bet this ungrateful +++er would be the first one in line for reduced hearing aid and other benefits he was afforded by the Democrats and not the party of old that he workshops.

Good job Brian for holding your tongue with this slob.
