WRITE ON WEDNESDAY
This week we run an Editorial from The Citizens’ Voice rightly calling out Lou Barletta for helping to promote the idea that the Democrats and Joe Biden stole the election. It is ludicrous to think that multi term Congressman could believe that and not realize that the mail in voting was actually the idea of his fellow Republicans in the State Legislature. And THIS GUY wants to be Governor. Sheesh! Here’s that Editorial from Times Shamrock.
BARLETTA PROMOTES THE STEAL
Calendars don’t lie, which is inconvenient for politicians who do.
Republicans in seven states who wanted to steal the 2020 presidential election have been scrambling to explain why they assembled bogus presidential electors weeks before the violent Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol. It’s under investigation by the special House committee investigating the insurrection and the Department of Justice.
Electors cast the Electoral College votes in each state, based on each state’s election results. On the same day — Dec. 14, 2020 — that actual electors did so, Republicans convened panels of fake electors who cast their ballots for the losing candidate, Donald Trump, and then sent the results to the National Archives.
The fraudulent electors’ scheme in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Nevada and New Mexico reportedly was orchestrated by Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani. The idea was to have “alternate” Electoral College votes on hand if the true Electoral College votes somehow were invalidated.
Congress had convened for the largely ceremonial task of opening the certified electoral vote count when the violent mob of Trump supporters attacked the Capitol.
One of the Pennsylvania fraudulent electors was Lou Barletta of Hazleton, a former member of Congress who now seeks the Republican nomination for governor.
His campaign claimed recently that there were “outstanding issues and pending litigation” at the time Barletta cast the fraudulent electoral ballot.
But there was no outstanding litigation on Dec. 14, 2020, that could have upended the Pennsylvania vote. All 67 Pennsylvania counties and the state government had certified the election results by Nov. 23, 2020. And on Dec. 11, 2020, three days before Barletta masqueraded as an elector, the U.S. Supreme Court threw out an absurd lawsuit attempting to overturn the Pennsylvania election results, which had been filed by the Texas attorney general with support from Pennsylvania Republicans including Reps. Dan Meuser and Fred Keller.
That lawsuit, along with the fake-elector stunt, were attempts to disenfranchise millions of Pennsylvania voters. But that won’t adversely affect Barletta within the Trump cult. The Republican Party formally declared Friday that the Capitol attack, which resulted in the deaths of four Capital Police officers and injuries to 140 others, was “legitimate political discourse.”
Yep here’s more of that “legitimate political discourse”.
1 Comments:
Barletta, and his fellow cadre of cowards, have chosen violent treason supported by a former president who obviously is suffering from tertiary syphilis.
