13 QUESTIONS

1. Is it me or does NPR repeat some of their stories?
. You’re correct. I noticed that a few times. They
do it mostly with features. One day I heard a news report (actually about Luzerne County not certifying the election) pin the morning, then two days later it was on the afternoon edition of All Things Considered. It’s strictly an editorial or producer’s decision
2. Why can’t a guy like Jim Bognet understand that he lost the election and just go away?
I wish I knew. The schools he was educated in had decent Math classes that preached accuracy. Maybe he skipped the days when they were teaching addition and subtraction.
3. You were a supporter of Tom Wolf back in ’14. As he closes out 8 years, what grade would you give him and why?
An A minus for these reasons.
a. He never deviated from his mission and vision.
b. There was little drama in the way he governed. Juxtapose that with his businessman skills vs. those of Donald Trump.
c. Like most Democrats, he took care of “the people” not the special interests.
d. In people he hired, he saw quality not differences.
e. This is where he doesn’t get an A plus from me. I think during the pandemic he should have engaged in more national news but that’s only my opinion. Wolf chose to keep his nose to the proverbial grindstone in the state. Despite criticism from the Trumpanzees, he soldiered on with Dr. Rachel Levine. I think the nation might have benefited from national exposure but that’s just me.
4. I saw you on WYLN TV last week. Are you back with them?
No. That was from an interview that I did in June called “Leading The Way” It was a 5 part sit down that Paula Deignan Reynolds ran on their newscasts.
5. Dear Mr. Yonki,
Do you believe that WILK has damaged its reputation as of late?
Not only with the tinfoil hat wearing hosts, but this morning's Morning News appears to be a "best of" show. How does a local NEWS/TALK station, especially with the capabilities of the hosts to work from home, not have a live broadcast during the week?
Thank you
I wasn't familiar with that broadcast. The only thing that damages the reputation in my estimation is the programming from 10am to 6. I think WILK like most companies is going through a transition in terms of finding dedicated and interesting talent. Rather than going with more mediocre talent to fill in, utilizing a "best of" concept might have been the only option that day. I'm sure te show had a board op there to advise what the show's content was as well as a current newscast. Plus, with Sirius Radio available as well as PODcasting and various options, the siren call of terrestrial radio is not what it used to be. Why a work from home option wasn't used is not something i can comment on.
6. Have you been watching the Hallmark Christmas movies?
You’re killing me here! I did see two and they reminded me of the old Andy Hardy or Marx Brothers films. They were formula efforts and predictable. Boy meets girl, girl hates guy, then there’s a twist like the guy’s father owning the company the girl is trying to sue for environmental reasons,
7. What happened to the father on the Goldbergs. Did he die in real life?
Worse. Jeff Garlin’s departure from The Goldbergs came as a result of an internal investigation into his alleged misconduct on set. People who worked on The Goldbergs described him as "extremely verbally and emotionally abusive." Kind of like the character he played. I saw the show a few times and was struck by the “over acting” “eyes bulging” “voice raising” behavior od all the actors.
8. For breaking news events what network do you watch?
NBC, CBS, ABC in that order. With Cable, MSNBC and CNN.
9. Did you see the documentary on the Philly DA Larry Krasner and do you think he should be impeached?
First off, “Philly DA” was the name of the multi part series. It was very good. Krasner was up front om what he was doing. Got re-elected too. It is overreach on the part of a GOP led Trumpanzee State Senate that should know better. It sets a dangerous precedent that you impeach some one whose policy you don’t like.
10. Was it true convicted and incarcerated Frank Scavo was strutting around the Luzerne County Courthouse on the day the elections were going to be certified?
Yes indeed. He was there and so were his “fans”. As a free man he can go where he wants but like all Trumpanzees, he has no shame.
11. Are you finished with your Christmas shopping?
Not by a long shot.
12. Where do you find the time to do all the things you do in the community?
There are people who do more I’m sure. I don’t golf or bowl or waste time so I parcel it out the best way I can.
13. Comments on the release of WNBA Star Brittany Granier?
This President doesn’t leave anything on the table. He gets it all done and gets little credit. But he does his job utilizing all tools at his disposal.
1 Comments:
I caught WILKs Monday show. While it was obviously not live, there was no mention during the show that it was a best of, or not live, nothing.
Not sure what is going on there, but the station hasn't gone downhill; they are at the bottom of the hill.
Sad that the powerhouse of talk radio Nancy Kman had built has fallen so far.
