The LuLac Edition #4, 936, March 22nd, 2023
WRITE ON WEDNESDAY
Our “Write On Wednesday” logo
Last week the Citizens’ Voice announced that they will stop publishing on Monday with a newspaper but have a digital edition on Monday. That move was met with resistance from people of all ages who have been receiving “the people’s paper” for years. Mrs. LuLac included. Here’s another reader not happy.
A SCREEN CANNOT COMPARE TO A PRINTED PAGE
Editor: My husband read your article about not printing Monday’s edition of the paper any longer (“CV to switch to digital format on Mondays,” March 14).
He is retired. He does not have a computer. I am not retired and have a computer at work. Neither of us have smartphones.
Your paper is the first thing he looks for on the porch each morning. He reads the paper word for word. He is lost without the morning paper. I sit and read it after dinner as an end to my day.
You cater to the “younger” people who want to read it online. Well, put it online for them, but keep the printed edition for those of us who are not “younger” people. Why do the elders always get pushed aside?
We took home delivery of your paper because the Times Leader only prints a few days a week. You won our readership. Now you’re basically insinuating we are not important to your profits.

1 Comments:
More than likely, the decision has nothing to do with catering to younger people, it is simply a cost saving measure.
I stopped reading the printed version of the CV when they abandoned the tabloid format in favor of the broadsheet format.
It is sad for those who do not have access to technology, but for local and regional newspapers to stay in business they need to cut costs wherever possible.
