THREATS BY

TRUMP

It has been estimated by NPR and other credible news organizations that Donald Trump has made 100 threats on former Presidents, the current Vice President and other public servants at least 100 times. The former President has also said he’d shut down media outlets unfriendly to him (by telling the truth) and civil servants making the government work.

If you or I threatened just once any Federal officials, (even the king of the MAGA Baby snowflakes, we’d be locked up.

WHY?

Because IT’S A CRIME! IT’S A FELONY!

Every time Trump opened his mouth…….in an interview or at a rally, and made a threat……THAT IS A FELONY.

In the United States, threatening government officials is a felony under federal law. Threatening the president of the United States is a felony under 18 U.S.C. § 871, punishable by up to 5 years of imprisonment, that is investigated by the United States Secret Service. Threatening other officials is a Class D or C felony, usually carrying maximum penalties of 5 or 10 years under 18 U.S.C. § 875, 18 U.S.C. § 876 and other statutes, that is investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. When national boundaries are transcended by such a threat, it is considered a terrorist threat.

United States Sentencing Guidelines take a number of factors into consideration in determining the recommended penalty, including evidence of the person's intent to carry out the threat; disruption to the government function; and the possibility of inciting others to violence.

In determining what constitutes a true threat, the courts hold that what must be proved is that a reasonable recipient of the communication would consider it a threat under the circumstances. Thus, a statement to a judge that "You and your family are going to die" would be regarded as a true threat, even if the defendant claimed that he meant it as a biological fact of life that everyone will die. If a threat is made to multiple individuals, it may be considered to be outside of the guidelines heartland, and therefore to warrant an enhancement.

The Secret Service prefers not to publicize incidents of Presidential assassination threats, because it believes that it will generate more criminal behavior, especially among the mentally ill.

If all of this is so…………then why is Donald Trump, a former President who was  the supposed victim of an assassination attempt, allowed to break the law not once, not twice, not ten times but over 100 times? 

 

DOUG COMES TO TOWN

 

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff did door to door campaigning with Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti and then stopped in at Hillside Farms in Dallas and bought some honey. He then proceeded to King’s College and gave a good speech hyping his spouse’s candidacy. WVIA reports that f emphasized putting country ahead of party Monday in a Northeast Pennsylvania campaign swing on behalf of his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Aiming squarely at Republicans, the Democratic presidential nominee’s husband told a small Wilkes-Barre rally that “conservatives who have never voted for a Democrat in their lives … are coming with us.”

“Once you actually listen to Kamala's policies, you may not agree with every one of them, but you find out you agree with a lot of them,” he said inside King’s College’s Sheehy-Farmer Student Center. “You love her background as a prosecutor. You love her background as a district attorney and attorney general who fought for the rights of all Californians. You've seen her in the United States Senate, sticking up for everyone.”

Harris has withstood “everyone trying to lie about her,” Emhoff said.

“So, if you're a conservative, Republican, moderate, independent, come on board,” he said. (WVIA News, LuLac)

 

8^TH DISTRICT CONGRESSIONAL DEBATE

U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright and Republican challenger Rob Bresnahan seemed way too focused on telling voters that they won’t march in lockstep with their Presidents.  Bresnahan kept on harping that Cartwright voted with the Biden agenda 98% of the time. What’s wrong with that? Was Robbie against infrastructure, $35.00 insulin, access to better health care, more money to the district for Police and Fire Departments?

What’s bad about THAT?  Cartwright worked with Trump himself on three bills and Robbie’s answer to that was the border, the border, the border which is the new Benghazi. Immigration COULD HAVE been fixed but was torpedoed by Speaker Johnson and Trump, Bresnahan said he’d be independent of those guys but can we really believe him on that?

He also showed a lack of knowledge with that 98% of the time with Cartwright ‘s voting record with President Biden. He was schooled on that quickly by Mr. Cartwright who corrected hi telling the bills start in the House and not the Oval.

To refresh his memory as well as the other MAGAs, a refresher from all of our childhood days. And BTW, Matt had 16 of these lonely bills PASSED!

 

REP. CARTWRIGHT DELIVERS $600,000 FOR SCRANTON’S WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER

FEDERAL FUNDING WILL SUPPORT TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICE

Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that $600,000 in federal funds have been awarded to the Women’s Resource Center in Scranton from the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women.

The DOJ awarded the federal funding under the Transitional Housing Assistance Grant for Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking Program. The Women’s Resource Center plans to use the award to provide emergency housing for individuals and their children and/or dependents fleeing domestic, dating, sexual violence, stalking or human trafficking.

 “Leaving an abusive situation takes incredible courage, and I am so glad that Northeastern Pennsylvanians faced with that decision have a safe place to land,” said Rep. Cartwright, who, as Chairman of the House Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) Subcommittee, successfully fought to expand overall funding for Violence Against Women programs in fiscal years 2022 and 2023, and again as Ranking Member of CJS in fiscal year 2024.

“Having a safety net will encourage victims to get out of violent, dangerous relationships, and these funds for transitional housing will get them back on their feet. The Women’s Resource Center’s transitional housing program provides victims with a safe place to stay and helps them reclaim their lives from abuse. I am proud to secure these federal investments so organizations like the Women’s Resource Center will have access to the support they need to help keep adults, children and families safe.”

“For those in immediate danger, our safe and secure emergency shelter provides a haven away from harm. Our facilities offer a supportive environment where survivors can find safety, comfort, and access to essential resources,” said Margaret A. Ruddy, Executive Director of Scranton’s Women’s Resource Center. “These federal funds are critical to ensure safety and stability for women and children fleeing abusive environments. If not for these funds, many of these families would be homeless in our communities."

CASEY ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $18.4 MILLION FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION IN PENNSYLVANIA COAL COMMUNITIES

21 PROJECTS ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH ARE RECEIVING MORE THAN $18.4 MILLION FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced funding for 21 projects in Pennsylvania coal communities, including workforce training, business site development, and community revitalization. The $18,480,334 in funding comes from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)’s Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) Initiative for communities affected by job losses in coal mining, coal power plant operations, and coal-related supply chain industries. Casey has long advocated to fund ARC and its work.

“Job training programs, educational opportunities, and strong, vibrant communities are critical to economic success across our Commonwealth,” said Senator Casey “These grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission will invest in Pennsylvania’s coal communities to ensure that families and workers thrive. I won’t stop fighting to ensure our Appalachian communities are not left behind.” 

The University of Scranton was awarded $1, 321, 980 for work in Technology Driven Transformation in Workforce Development and Innovation.

This is part of Casey’s ongoing commitment to providing funding for the future of all Pennsylvanians.

 

 

SHAPIRO ADMINISTRATION GETS STUFF DONE: GOVERNOR SHAPIRO, PENNDOT SECRETARY CARROLL HIGHLIGHT PENNSYLVANIA’S SUCCESSFUL WORK TO REPAIR MORE POOR-CONDITION BRIDGES THAN ANY OTHER STATE IN THE COUNTRY

Governor Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Mike Carroll joined local officials and community leaders at the Neville Island Bridge in Allegheny County to celebrate the completion of critical repairs on the I-79 bridge that tens of thousands of drivers rely on every day. This project is part of Pennsylvania’s historic progress in maintaining and improving critical infrastructure across the Commonwealth, with Pennsylvania leading the nation last year(opens in a new tab) in the repair of poor-condition bridges.

According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in 2023, Pennsylvania – including PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and other bridge owners – repaired or replaced more than 200 bridges of at least 20 feet in length, resulting in 90 fewer bridges rated in poor-condition – the largest improvement of any state in the country.

Last year in 2023, PennDOT had its most productive year in nearly a decade, improving 500 more miles of roadway and repairing 150 more bridges than the previous year. The momentum continues into 2024, with over 4,100 miles of roads improved and work advancing on more than 360 state and local bridges. Governor Shapiro and his Administration understand the vital role infrastructure plays in the daily lives of millions of Pennsylvanians, which is why PennDOT works quickly and safely to ensure roads and bridges are ready for the people who rely on them every day.

"Every single day, Pennsylvanians count on our roads and bridges to get to work, take their kids to school, and keep our economy moving," said Governor Shapiro. "That’s why we’ve made it a priority to secure the critical funding needed to improve our infrastructure and partnered with both the public and private sectors to get the job done. From the fast-tracked reopening of I-95 in Philadelphia to the essential repairs on the Neville Island Bridge, we’re proving that when we work together, we can accomplish great things and deliver real results for the people of Pennsylvania. We're not just fixing roads – we're building a stronger future and showing that we can get stuff done for the people of Pennsylvania.”

Over 54,000 vehicles cross the Neville Island Bridge every day and the $48 million rehabilitation project involved structural steel repairs, full structure painting, bearing and deck joint replacements, concrete deck and overlay repairs, and substructure concrete work on I-79 over the Ohio River in Neville and Robinson Townships and Glenfield Borough. The project also addressed drainage improvements, guide rail replacements, and work on additional bridges. The project was 100 percent federally funded and completed by contractor Trumbull Corporation. The Neville Island Bridge project alone supported 80 good-paying jobs over three years.

“We’ve worked hard to not only meet today’s needs but to invest in the long-term safety and reliability of our infrastructure. The Neville Island Bridge is just one example of our commitment to keeping Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges in good condition,” said Secretary Carroll. “We are proud of the measurable progress in improving bridge conditions across the state. Our goal remains clear – ensuring that Pennsylvania's bridges and roads are safe, reliable, and built for the future." 

 “I've been in the labor union for 15 years, and I've had the privilege of working all across the state. I spent two years here on this project – it started with jackhammering the deteriorated concrete on the other side of the river and we worked our way across the bridge. It's good work, it's hard work, and it's rewarding in the end,” said Joe Slezak, Company Labor Foreman, Trumbull Corporation.

“We reduced our inventory of bridges in poor condition across the Commonwealth by 90 in just one year –that is incredible work. At a county level, we are responsible for 500 bridges, 400 plus miles of roadway, and one mighty tunnel. All that infrastructure is incredibly expensive to maintain, so we are grateful for investments from our partners at the state and federal level, said Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has poured millions into Allegheny County infrastructure repair and has created good-paying, family-sustaining union jobs, and for that, we are immensely grateful.”

“Neville Island is the only single municipal island in our Commonwealth with a rich history of having a beautiful residential community and strong manufacturing and industrial sites. Thank you, Governor Shapiro, for prioritizing infrastructure development and maintenance across our Commonwealth,” said Representative Anita Astorino Kulik. “Under your leadership, a record number of roads and bridges will be repaired, replaced, or preserved, and by securing over $300 million in new infrastructure funding, reducing the Pennsylvania State Police’s reliance on the motor vehicle license fund and securing record dollars in federal transportation funds, you have done what is needed to support projects that will fit all Pennsylvanians.”

Since taking office, Governor Shapiro has secured over $300 million in new infrastructure funding to maintain Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges – reducing the Pennsylvania State Police’s reliance on the Motor License Fund, delivering more funding for transportation while ensuring our law enforcement officers are sustainably funded.

“State investments, specifically in the transportation and infrastructure sectors, are vital to the future of southwestern Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh region’s strong, well-connected infrastructure network is a key component in our ability to attract business investment, bolster in-market expansion, and enhance our region’s quality of life,” said Matt Smith, Chief Growth Officer, Allegheny Conference on Community Development. “The Shapiro Administration’s focus on infrastructure investment and the actions taken to repair the Commonwealth’s roads and bridges support the preservation of our efficient transportation network and position our region to continue to compete for business attraction and retention.”

Governor Shapiro has also leveraged federal resources to maximize investments in Pennsylvania's infrastructure, including securing the largest federal transportation grant in the Commonwealth's history(opens in a new tab) The $500 million grant for the I-83 South Bridge in Harrisburg, awarded through the FHWA’s competitive Bridge Investment Program, will fund the replacement of the bridge. This vital crossing in Central Pennsylvania, used by more than 125,000 vehicles daily – including 15 percent truck traffic – plays a critical role in connecting communities and supporting commerce, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods and people across the Susquehanna River.

“I am thrilled to celebrate the completion of the I-79 Neville Island Bridge Rehabilitation Project today alongside Governor Shapiro, Commonwealth leaders, and our union workers who got the job done,” said Congressman Chris Deluzio. “Folks in Western PA have long done the hard work to make the stuff that built this country, and our region should have the best infrastructure out there. I am proud that this project was 100 percent federally funded, and I will continue to bring home federal funding we need to make our roads, bridges, and infrastructure the best they can be.”

  “One of government’s main responsibilities is providing a safe and reliable infrastructure network so our citizens can get around safely and efficiently,” said Senator Wayne Fontana. “I commend Governor Shapiro and Secretary Carroll at PennDOT on how they are executing the many projects around Pennsylvania that are so critical to meeting these needs.”

Beyond bridge repairs, the Shapiro Administration has continued investing in Pennsylvania’s transportation network. In August, Governor Shapiro announced a $51 million investment(opens in a new tab) from the Multimodal Transportation Fund to support 66 crucial projects across 32 counties — including highway, bridge, aviation, ports, and bike and pedestrian initiatives — enhancing the safety and efficiency of Pennsylvania’s infrastructure for everyone.

Governor Shapiro’s "Get Stuff Done" attitude was on display when he brought together federal, state, and local officials, along with private sector and union partners, to reopen I-95 in just 12 days(opens in a new tab) following its collapse in Northeast Philadelphia. Henry Kissinger described her as an "Iron Lady", a nickname that became associated with her tough personality…..On 31 October 1984, two of Gandhi's Sikh bodyguards, Satwant Singh and Beant Singh, shot her with their service weapons in the garden of the prime minister's residence at 1 Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, allegedly in revenge for Operation Blue Star. The shooting occurred as she was walking past a wicket gate guarded by the two men. She was to be interviewed by the British filmmaker Peter Ustinov, who was filming a documentary for Irish television.Beant shot her three times using his side-arm; Satwant fired 30 rounds.The men dropped their weapons and surrendered. Afterwards, they were taken away by other guards into a closed room where Beant was shot dead. Kehar Singh was later arrested for being part of the conspiracy in the attack. Satwant and Kehar were sentenced to death and hanged in Delhi's Tihar Jail. Gandhi was taken to the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences at 9:30 AM where doctors operated on her. She was declared dead at 2:20 PM. The post-mortem examination was conducted by a team of doctors headed by Tirath Das Dogra. Dogra said that Gandhi had sustained as many as 30 bullet wounds from two sources: a Sten submachine gun  and a .38 Special revolver. The assailants had fired 31 bullets at her, of which 30 hit her; 23 had passed through her body while seven remained inside her. Dogra extracted bullets to establish the make of the weapons used and to match each weapon with the bullets recovered by ballistic examination. The bullets were matched with their respective weapons at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Delhi. Subsequently, Dogra appeared in Shri Mahesh Chandra's court as an expert witness (PW-5); he gave his testimony in several sessions. The cross examination was conducted by Shri Pran Nath Lekhi, the defence counsel. Salma Sultan provided the first news of her assassination on Doordarshan's evening news on 31 October 1984, more than 10 hours after she was shot. Gandhi was cremated in accordance with Hindu tradition on 3 November near Raj Ghat. The site where she was cremated is known today as Shakti Sthal Paying homage, Gandhi's body lay in state at Teen Murti House. Thousands of followers strained for a glimpse of the cremation. Her funeral was televised live on domestic and international stations, including the BBC. After her death, the Parade Ground was converted to the Indira Gandhi Park which was inaugurated by her son, Rajiv Gandhi.

Gandhi's assassination dramatically changed the political landscape. Rajiv succeeded his mother as prime minister within hours of her murder and anti-Sikh riots erupted, lasting for several days and killing more than 3,000 Sikhs in New Delhi and an estimated 8,000 across India. Many Congress leaders were believed to be behind the anti-Sikh massacre. On the last day before her death she said publicly, “"I am alive today, I may not be there tomorrow ... I shall continue to serve until my last breath and when I die, I can say, that every drop of my blood will invigorate India and strengthen it  ... Even if I died in the service of the nation, I would be proud of it. Every drop of my blood ... will contribute to the growth of this nation and to make it strong and dynamic."…..and this week in 1984 the number one song in LuLac land and America was :Lucky Star” by MaDonna.
