TJ FITZGERALD’S REPUBLICAN DIVIDE: LOYALTY OR BUST
The ever-controversial TJ Fitzgerald, the figurehead of the ultra-MAGA Luzerne County Republicans, has made his latest move to divide the local Republican Party into those who pledge loyalty to his agenda and those he labels as RINOs (Republicans In Name Only).
On social media, Fitzgerald has publicly outlined his "approved" list of MAGA-aligned Republicans: Alec Ryncavage, Leann McDermott, Brenda Pugh, Jamie Walsh, Dave McCormick, Rob Bresnahan, and Dan Meuser. If you're not on this list, chances are you're on his radar for destruction.
Fitzgerald's targets include long-time GOP stalwarts like Senator Lisa Baker and County Councilman Harry Haas, who have both reportedly fallen out of favor for refusing to align with his abrasive and divisive rhetoric, which many in the party view as toxic.
Adding fuel to the fire, Fitzgerald announced plans to create a "politician rating" system that will soon appear on the Luzerne County Republican Party’s website. This system seems aimed at further cementing his influence by labeling those who fail to tow the MAGA line as unworthy of Republican support.
The Luzerne County Republican Party under Fitzgerald's leadership continues to face criticism for alienating moderates and promoting candidates and policies that lean heavily into far-right extremism. With his growing "loyalty checklist," Fitzgerald is cementing his role as a polarizing force in Luzerne County politics.
Political MAGA Protest
The Luzerne County Republicans’ rally in Scranton today to demand the removal of President Joe Biden’s name from local streets turned into a gathering of familiar MAGA figures in county politics. Among those present were Steve Urban, Walter Griffith, Jamie Walsh, and insurrectionist Frank Scavo, along with the infamous Bob Bolus and his "Truck of Bigotry and Ignorance." Adding to the embarrassment was a misspelled sign addressed to Governor Shapiro.
What’s even more disheartening is the exploitation of Sandy Fonzo, the grieving mother of a suicide victim linked to the Kids for Cash scandal, who was roped into this politically charged event. Using such a deeply personal tragedy to further a divisive agenda is a new low, even for Luzerne County’s political extremists.
The rally’s tone-deaf messaging reveals just how out of touch this faction of the local Republican Party has become.
Stay tuned for more developments as Fitzgerald’s plans unfold. Meanwhile, you can visit the Luzerne County Republican website to see how the party's direction evolves: Luzerne County Republicans Website
