WRITE ON WEDNESDAY

This week we are featuring a letter that is most likely being replicated by the thousands across the country. This thought by a resident of The Lac is just not an isolated opinion on the tragedy that is the second Trump administration.

AMERICANS HAVE

BUYER’S REMORSE

Editor: The Trump circus has now reached the 100-day mark. The report card is out and the ringmaster’s grades are not good. Remember during the presidential campaign when polls showed that over 50% of Americans trusted Trump to handle the economy? Now many of these people are having buyer’s remorse. Let’s look at the numbers.

The April consumer confidence report hit a 13-year low, according to the Consumer Confidence Board.  According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, just two in five Americans approve of the job Trump is doing. Sixty-one percent believe we are headed for a recession. The poll also found that 82% of Americans complained about the price of groceries.

In a CNN poll, Trump’s approval rating was at 37%, the lowest for any president at the 100-day mark. Also in the CNN poll, only 39% approved of Trump’s handling of the economy. Only 35% approved of Trump’s handling of inflation and only 46% approved of Trump’s handling of immigration. Only 23% of Americans call the economy excellent or good; 45% of Americans say they expect the economy to be in worse shape a year from now.

It’s obvious that instead of believing Trump’s lies that he told on the campaign trail, Trump supporters should have listened to the warning that Democrats were giving.
