WRITE ON WEDNESDAY
This week we randomly select a Letter to the Editor from a reader who sees new Congressman’s Rob Bresnehan’s priorities not necessarily in line with hers.
BRESNAHAN SERVES TRUMP,
NOT HIS CONSTITUENTS
Editor: A recent letter (“Don’t Stoop to Nazi References,” June 13) supports a person’s right to protest but was offended by a sign on which U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan’s face was placed on a body giving the Nazi salute. It then jumped to the conclusion that the person with the sign was implying that Rob Bresnahan was antisemitic.
The problem I have with the letter is the Nazi salute was a symbol of deference to a dictator. A dictator who vilified a race of people. Sound familiar? A dictator who vilified any press that dared to speak out against him and his policies. Sound familiar? A dictator who filled his government with people who only had allegiance to him, regardless of their qualifications for the job. Sound familiar? A dictator who made people salute to show their allegiance to him and his regime.
The Nazi salute represents allegiance to a leader over allegiance to the people and so far Rob Bresnahan has shown complete allegiance to this regime. I welcome the day he takes his hand down and stands for his constituents.
