THE PIG PRESIDENT VISITS

Well Donald Trump came to the suburbs of LuLac  land Tuesday and made a complete ass out of himself. Trump tried to emphasize his focus on combating inflation, yet the issue that has damaged his popularity couldn’t quite command his full attention.

The president told the crowd gathered at a casino and resort in Mount Pocono that inflation was no longer a problem and that Democrats had used the term “affordability” as a “hoax” to hurt his reputation.

The bottom line here is that inflation is at 3%. The same as it was with President Biden. At one point, the pig President said he solved inflation and there wasn’t any.

He seems to have a fixation with Biden. Can he be jealous that Biden got an infrastructure bill done? He can’t blame Biden for the bad reaction tariffs are having because Biden never proposed them. No sane President would ever do that.

Trump then started to introduce Senator Dave McCormick and referred to McCormick’s loss to  Dr. Oz in a close primary. He said that McCormick needed to win a second time or else his beautiful wife was going to leave the Senator. Now Trump most likely doesn’t remember that he endorsed Oz who contributed to that McCormick defeat.

Then there was the stuff about immigration. .

“Why is it we only take people from s—-hole countries, right?” Trump said onstage. “Why can’t we have some people from Norway, Sweden, just a few?”

Trump said he objected to taking immigrants from “hellholes like Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia and many other countries.” He added for emphasis that those places “are a disaster, right? Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime.”

No word on the national guard troops in cities, he praised Pete Hegshit and nary a word about bowing boats out of the water and killing people.

It was a word salad of lies, bullshit, anger and worn out rhetoric that people are turning off.

It was typical Trump. Cruel, chaotic and crazy. Not befitting a President. (AP, LuLac)

JOHNSON ON EXTENDING HEALTH CARE SUBSIDIES: NADA

The impotent Speaker of the House of Representatives has indicated he will not go for a health care extension.

Republican leaders touted “productive” discussions on health care in their Wednesday morning conference meeting that would lead to a package coming to the floor next week as Americans are facing jumps in their premiums due to expiring Covid-era Affordable Care Act tax credits.

“The overall system is broken, and we’re the ones that are going to fix it. You will see that laid out,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said while not revealing many details of the forthcoming package.

“We’re moving those through the regular order process, and that’s the way it’s supposed to work. So, you’ll see many of those processes. We think we can get it all wrapped up by the end of that deadline of January 30th, and you’ll see that process continue over the days and weeks ahead as well,” he added.

Johnson indicated any plan Republicans would put on the floor would not include extending the ACA subsidies, saying it “would be a dereliction of duty to just extend subsidies without making without massive reforms to them.”

What a crock. So he stops Americans from getting health care by reforming it? Where the fuck is your plan Johnson? There is no excuse for inaction when YOU get Cadilac Health Care. (CNN, LuLac)

SHOW THE DAMN VIDEO

President Donald Trump on Monday justified the U.S. military’s decision to fire a second missile in a heavily scrutinized attack on a boat in the Caribbean Sea by claiming that two suspected drug smugglers were trying to right the vessel after it had capsized in the initial strike.

Trump also backtracked on whether he was open to releasing the video footage of the second strike. Last week, Trump told reporters he saw “no problem” in releasing the footage, but on Monday he said he would leave the decision to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The Republican administration is facing calls from Democratic lawmakers to release footage of the Sept. 2 operation in the Caribbean Sea, which killed nine people aboard the boat in an initial strike and then two more who managed to survive.

“They were trying to return the boat back to where it could float, and we didn’t want to see that because that boat was loaded up with drugs,” Trump said on Monday.

Really? They killed two survivors clinging to life. If they saved them instead of shooting them like one of Kristi’s Noem’s dogs, they might have had information on how to prosecute. We’ve now reached a new stage in this country. Shooting to kill. (AP, LuLac)

BRESNAHAN WELCOMES ADMINISTRATOR OZ TO SCRANTON FOR HEALTHCARE ROUNDTABLE

U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) welcomed Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz to Scranton for a healthcare roundtable with local stakeholders and officials. Prior to the roundtable, Rep. Bresnahan and Administrator Oz visited The Wright Center in Scranton to tour the facility and meet with staff and leadership.

The discussion with Administrator Oz and our local healthcare community was extremely productive,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “It was a fantastic opportunity to sit down with local leaders to discuss how we can best implement the Rural Health Transformation Fund and the importance of high-quality healthcare. I want to thank Administrator Oz for coming to Scranton to hear firsthand from our community. We’re committed to delivering real, practical solutions that improve access to care, lower costs, and ensure every community gets the support it needs.”

“The decisions CMS makes in Washington and Baltimore affect Americans in every one of the country’s nearly 20,000 cities and towns — urban, rural, and everything in between,” said CMS administrator Mehmet Oz. “That’s why it’s so important for us to get out of the Beltway and hear directly from people in those communities. I’m grateful to Congressman Bresnahan for bringing together local Northeastern Pennsylvania experts and stakeholders to work toward real, bipartisan solutions that can lower costs, increase access, and improve quality of care.”

During the roundtable, Rep. Bresnahan and Administrator Oz spoke with participants about Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform, medical modernization, insurance coverage, value-based care, and the Rural Health Transformation Fund. Following the roundtable, Rep. Bresnahan and Administrator Oz spoke with members of the press, along with Jim Pettinato, CEO of Wayne Memorial Hospital, Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, CEO of The Wright Center, Matt Osterberg and Ron Schmalzle, Pike County Commissioners, and Bob Durkin, President of Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

“We are sincerely grateful to Dr. Oz, Congressman Bresnahan, and their staffs for visiting The Wright Centers for Community Health and Graduate Medical Education and for recognizing the essential role community health centers, community-based primary care, and physician and health care workforce development play in the health and vitality of our region and our nation,” said Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, president and CEO of The Wright Center. “As a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike and nationally recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home, The Wright Center ensures accessible, whole-person-focused, team-based, and cost-effective care for about 38,300 individuals each year across Northeast Pennsylvania.

“Our scalable Graduate Medical Education Safety-Net Consortium (GME SNC) model intentionally integrates health care delivery, interprofessional workforce development, innovation, and community voice to provide high-quality, affordable, and compassionate primary and preventive whole-person health services, especially in rural and underserved communities, while training 430 residents, fellows, and interprofessional learners annually, with strong retention in those communities.

“At a time when hospital mergers and closures, accelerating health care workforce shortages, and fragile rural health care infrastructures threaten timely access to care, our integrated primary care and GME-SNC model serves as both a stabilizing anchor for local health systems and a lifeline for patients and families. It is a profound privilege and honor to share our mission-driven work and the voices of our patients and learners with our distinguished guests.”

SHAPIRO ADMINISTRATION TO REMIND FARMERS THAT HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE IS AVAILABLE THROUGH PENNIE DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT

Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys, Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, and Pennie Executive Director Devon Trolley will visit Spiral Path Farms to remind Pennsylvania farmers that health insurance coverage is available to them through Pennie, Pennsylvania's official health insurance marketplace.

Many farmers don't get health insurance through an employer, and farm income often changes from season to season. Pennie's Open Enrollment period is the only time of year to enroll in individual and family health coverage for 2026. Open Enrollment typically runs from November 1 to December 15 for coverage that starts on January 1, 2026. Outside of Open Enrollment, only individuals with life changes can enroll.

"The holiday season represents the best of our Commonwealth - communities coming together, supporting each other, and appreciating all that we have here in Pennsylvania," said Governor Shapiro. "The light that comes from the Capitol Christmas tree reminds us of the hope we share and the brighter future we're building together - that spirit and sense of shared purpose are what the holidays are all about. It's what carries us through the good times and the dark times, and it's what makes Pennsylvania such a special place to call home. I hope this season brings every family moments of grace, of gratitude, and of joy. From our family to yours, a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a wonderful New Year."

CANADA'S HOUSE OF COMMONS VOTES 163 TO 78 TO APPROVE THE RED MAPLE LEAF FLAG

December 1963

The Great Canadian flag debate (or Great Flag Debate) was a national debate that took place in 1963 and 1964 when a new design for the national flag of Canada was chosen.

Although the flag debate had been going on for a long time prior, it officially began on June 15, 1964, when Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson proposed his plans for a new flag in the House of Commons. The debate lasted more than six months and bitterly dividing politicians and the general public over the design of a new Canadian flag. The debate over the proposed new Canadian flag was ended by closure on December 15, 1964. It resulted in the adoption of the "Maple Leaf" as the Canadian national flag, which remains the official national flag of Canada.

The flag was inaugurated on February 15, 1965, a date that has been commemorated as National Flag of Canada Day since 1996.

The flag was inaugurated on February 15, 1965, at an official ceremony held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in the presence of Governor General Major-General Georges Vanier, the prime minister, the members of the Cabinet, and Canadian parliamentarians. Also throughout Canada, at the United Nations in New York City, and at Canadian legations and on Canadian ships throughout the world, the Canadian Red Ensign was lowered and the Maple Leaf flag was raised. As journalist George Bain wrote of the occasion, the flag "looked bold and clean, and distinctively our own." And this week in 1963 the number one song in LuLac land, America and Canada was “Domonique” by   The Singing Nun.
