The LuLac Edition #4,380, August 18th, 2020

# 36 @ 100 YEARS AGO TODAY

AND WHAT IT MEANS TO US

Thirty six.
That number represents the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the Construction which gave women the right to vote. Tennessee was the state that put it over the top.
The Nineteenth Amendment's adoption was certified on August 26, 1920: the culmination of a decades-long movement for women's suffrage at both state and national levels.
The amendment states “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”
