PHOTO INDEX: ROCK 107'S "WEBSTER" WHO PAINSTAKINGLY TAUGHT ME HOW TO ADD PHOTOS TO MY BLOG (YEAH GEENA DAVIS PHOTOS!!!!) AND THE NUMBER ONE SYMBOL HIGHLIGHTING THE FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE LULAC POLITICAL LETTER.
ONE YEAR ON
Well, it's been one year since I started the LuLac Political Letter. I began it because I saw some really nasty attacks on people I know and like in the media. My feeling was that perhaps the level of discourse could be elevated. I figured it would be a once a week thing. Then I feared that I'd not be able to think of something. But once I got started, it was like eating those Potato Chips, I couldn't stop at one. Then, I saw that I began to add too much. There were some pretty long editions at first. As I muddled along, I discovered that I could add pictures. My friend John Webster of Rock 107 took me through a tenuous process of e mailing instructions that must have convinced him I was in need of some serious help in the brains department. Once I got the pictures posted, I was on my way. A visual paints one hell of a political picture. As the months went by, responses came. Then comments. Then when Mrs. LuLac bought the new computer, we were high speed. After talking to my good friend Gort, I installed a site meter and actually saw how many people stopped by to see what I had to say. I had more radio listeners in the overnight shift at WVIA FM but not by much. The recent political forum was something I'd try to see if we (as an entity) were taken seriously. It appears we were. And that's what I wanted one year ago. To be heard and (on some days about some things,) to be taken seriously. Here's what I wrote one year ago today when we set out our mission statement. It appears we're on course. And to my readers and commenters, I say THANK YOU for participating.

The Lu-Lac Political Report is a comprehensive Beneficial Load Of Government and political information. (BLOG). The reason why I am starting it is because I truly believe there is a lack of great political reporting in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton news market these days. The newspaper and broadcast field seems populated by individuals who stop short of explaining the whole story, whether it be the final conclusion or background information required of such a subject as politics. It could be budget, inexperience, laziness or just a lower standard. But the political reporting of Bill Griffiths, Carl Romanelli Sr., John “Pidge” Watson, Bill Luksic and Joseph Flannery is nowhere evident in our discourse today. I would like to try and fill that large void left by these journalists. This report will strive to provide political news to interested parties, (ie political junkies) commentary on those doings as well as an opportunity to analyze the who what, why, where and when of politics. Our intent is to provide readers with thoughtful views, provoke discussions on the political process, as well as educate the participants on some politicos who came before making all of what we are observing today possible. (We can debate on whether we can thank them or not!) We will also work in tandem with the current contemporaries available that opine and observe the political scene like the WILK Talk Radio network, local columnists, TV reporters and political consultants and activists. If there is a philosophical disagreement with any of these entities, we will not insult, intimidate or belittle them as other sites have done. There will absolutely be no personal attacks of any kind against how people look or comport themselves. There will be some commentary from the Blog Editor and Publisher but it will be listed as that, commentary. Opinions and varied points of view as they used to say on the TV editorials (whatever happened to them???) will be welcome. As we grow, we will add more interesting features that hopefully will entertain, enlighten and inform. As a political junkie, the past will be celebrated, the present will be reviewed and analyzed and the future will be considered. The site will be updated frequently with the goal to have something new posted once a day by 6PM. Let us begin on this new and exciting intellectual adventure!!!!

Dave,
Congratulations on your blog anniversary! You've taken the politically well-versed and connected not to mention learned approach to blogging while every third or fourth post on mine has something to do with elongated bowl toilets and other weighty matters.
It wasn't so bad teaching you how to put a picture up with your content via e-mail. It was my pleasure, after all, that's what friends are for.
Congratulations again Dave!
Best,
John
Let's see, you're a Dem but vote for more REpublicans than the party you belong to. You have a great historical grasp on the politics of the area, have a passion for it but have done everything to make sure you don't have to jump into the arena yourself. You like both Keith Obernman and Bill O'Reillty, are an Indians and Packers fan but follow the Yankees and the Eagles. Your taste in celebrity women goes from Geena Davis to Maria Sharipova and on a slow day you'll throw in Amy Bradley or that Francine chick from PCN. Yeah, you're a real easy guy to figure out!!!! Where does the Yonk stand? EVERYWHERE!!!
Best of luck with a year under your belt. God Bless you, God Bless America and especially God help and bless Mrs. LuLac.
Happy Anniversary and many more.
A year of the Yonk and it's been a good one. You're knowledge of the local political scene and history have been a joy to read.
Happy blogoversary and many more to come!
Happy one year anniversary. Two years ago there was a whole bunch of bloggers, now there are three. You, Gort and Wilkes Barre On Line. Nice going. And many, many more editions.
I can't tell you how much you've added to the discourse. Keep up the good work. And to the previous poster, let's not forget this is the man who LOVES Al Gore and supports Joe Leonardi for Congress too. Can we say enigma?
Dave,
Congrats on a great web page...You are a fair and honest blogger and have a firm grasp on the area politics and nepotisum that have ruined this area that we all love ...I appreciate your input and wish you great health and success for another year and years to follow...
DAVER:
Congrats on year number 1.
Hope things will keep on humming along for you.
That kid Grier made some good points about the downtown, man does not live by celluoid alone my friend.
PAULER
Dave,
Happy One Year Anniversary. What I like more than anything else is how you relate to us the stories of the old timers in politics. Methinks you should have a weekly fweature on days gone by, when you did your story on Lehman, you brought up the great point that just because you lose, that might make you a political footnote but not one in life. The Geena Davis stuff is dubious, she is after all getting as old as you. But hey, I'll give an old dude like you his daydreams in exchange for the great info you impart.

P.S. How come little short guys like you like the tall ones?
Dear Mr. Yonki,
You must have started something with your Candidate Conclave this past Sunday? It would appear that the incumbent Council persons got the message that the populace was not
happy with thier past performance. To that end, on Monday The town was proliferated with "Daddy Help Me" signs!
Under the banner of "Proven Leadership" the signs ask that you re-unite at least 5 of the Seven Dwarfs with Snow White. again
As I see it , it's sad that Mr. Griffith did not run for MAyor. Then we could have had Grier as the top dog in District A.
There definitely needs to be a shake up in the makeup. Those who presently sit on Coucil believe it to be a diety. What with Kane wanting to tell Boscov how to run his business.
Thomas disrespectfully calling a Senior Statesman "Nuts" in a public forum, just because he (Thomas) didn't have a better plan, or even a plan!
In a higher form of government at least they try to hide thier shenanigans, but here in Wilkes-Barre, they are blatant. And when a constituent questions anything, they are ridiculed,
and made a fool of.
We will see on Tuesday, if the citizens of Wilkes-Barre, want to continue with this form of governance.
All though a clean sweep is in order, 3 or 4 new people would get thier attention.
Thanks once again for the kind words, and may God bless and keep you always.
Sincerely,
Ray Arellano
David and Mrs. LuLac, Thanks for the opportunity to present my views for
my City Council run. Sue Henry did a great job moving things along. I also want to thank you for your insight comments for each and every candidate. The event was well organized and received very good press coverage. Thanks again for your coverage for this "historic" election.
JOE DANIEL
COUNCIL CANDIDATE
