BIG MEETING
This Wednesday, the joint forces of Luzerne and Lackawanna County Democrats will hold a meeting to map out strategy for the fall Presidential campaign. The meeting will be held at the Victoria Inn (Quality Inn) on Route 315 in Pittston. The 6:15 call time is important because members will be participating in conference calls with Senator Bob Casey and Governor Ed Rendell.
How can the McCain/Palin ticket possibly relate to us? While we are making the decision to eat a burger from McDonalds, Wendy’s or Burger King, Sarah Palin’s claim to fame is that she eats Moose Burgers. When Cindy McCain came on stage during the Republican convention do you realize that she had on a $3,000.00 dress and a quarter of a million dollars in jewelry on her (3 carat earrings in each ear). If you believe they can relate to our everyday problems here in NEPA I have a bridge to sell you.
One of the reasons NEPA and Scranton in particular felt so close to HRC was because she was baptized here. We still have the chance to make history. We can make “one of us” born here in Scranton the Vice President of the United States. Joe Biden has never lost his connection to our area and still considers Scranton his home.
We are an important political entity and now is not the time to “check out” when the country is watching to see what happens here in Scranton and NEPA. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden have put Scranton on the map. Let’s make sure we put Joe Biden and Barack Obama in the White House.
I’ve been for Hillary Clinton since she was attacked as First Lady while leading the charge for universal health care reform, which never happened with the republicans at the helm. We need to come together for the future of this country, your future and most importantly that of your children.
We need to come together to support the Obama Biden ticket. They are fighting for and believe in the same issues that Hillary Clinton campaigned for in the primary. If we all believed in our heart on those issues in April how can someone believe in entirely different policies 5 months later in September.
I’ve been there. You win some and you lose some. Losing sucks, but it’s not the end of the world and hasn’t been for me. Sometimes it’s harder for our supporters to come around than it is for the candidate themselves. That’s the case here. Hillary Clinton and President Clinton are supporting the Barack Obama and Joe Biden ticket. They know it’s the right thing to do for the country.
So please, let’s grab ourselves by our bootstraps and get active in the campaign. We need a government led by people who care about people. People like me and you. People who will understand our needs and concerns.
I’m sure not one person reading this is considered middle class by John McCain’s standards. Please let me know if anyone receiving my email has a net worth of $5 million dollars. I’d like to have you over for dinner.
I hope to see on Wednesday night. Remember it’s all about our future.

Evie,
I am not going to let you get away with the $5 million net worth comment.

Let's talk about net worth. As of 2006 7 of the top ten net worth in the House and the Senate were Democrats, not Republicans. If you look at the chart Nancy Pelosi is worth more than John McCain. So how did that argument go you were trying to sell? If you believe who can relate to your everyday problems..Nancy??? Do you think Nancy shops at Walmart? No, not going to let you get away with that one.
We love Evie!!! Yesterday, today and tomorrow!
Evie, have you ever heard of the Kennedy clan? Worth millions each, many homes, jewels etc. The republicans don't have the corner on wealth in this country. I resent anyone trying to stir up class resentment. If I could afford a $3000 dress and earrings, I'd buy them, wear them and enjoy them! So would you. It's not like the McCains haven't done a lot of noteworthy charitable work with their cash, just as many people of means do.
Stirring up class warfare seems very cynical and, dare I say it? a bit panicky. And I don't like the idea that you think that such nasty innuendo is all it takes to sway my opinion. Whether McCain had seven hundred houses or lived under the Market Street Bridge, he still has more experience than his opponent.
