PHOTO INDEX: SENATORS McCAIN AND OBAMA.

OBAMA POLLING WELL

The day before the second Presidential debate it appears that at least in Pennsylvania, enator Obama is making great strides in his bid for the Presidency. In a poll conducted by Muhlenberg University and the Allentown Morning Call, the Illinois lawmaker seems to be doing very well. Here are the results among 600 polled late last week.

Q1. Which political party are you currently registered with?

A few things on the poll, it was taken among Pennsylvania residents where there is a huge registration edge for the Dems. Also it was taken before the Vice Presidential debate.

ELECTION TOP 40

ADVERTISING #30

OBAMA

Running a series of ads that still prmote his image as a "change agent" but placing messages that make him look Presidential. Recent ads attacking McCain's indecision on the economy as well as the Arizona Senators Halth Care plan have recently emerged. Look for more Obama response ads.

McCAIN

The image "Country First" ads are all but gone. The McCain campaign, behind is now concentrating on a series of ads that question whether Senator Obama can handle the Presidency. You will also see ads connecting Obama to Rev. Wright as well as some other dubious Chicago connections like the Weather Undergound Professor.

This poll is pretty self evident. Americans might have bought the garbage the GOP was selling in 00 and 04 but not this year. Not with the way they screwed up the economy and this country.

I'm a salesman and have been for over 30 years. Currently I cover Luzerne County. I call on up to 35 people a day servicing regular customers and cold calling for new business. People in general, and business people in particular are beyond apprehensive right now. In fact they are scared! I have never seen anything to compare with the situation today. Some Americans must be staying home. They are not shopping at the small to mid sized local businesses. Perhaps Walmart and Lowes are doing ok, but once again middle America takes a hit! I pass crowded restaurant parking lots, but with few exceptions its the chain locations that are packing them in and some seem to be doing just that. The Mom and Pops are suffering. Big car dealerships are in credit trouble all around and corner used car lots are soon to go the way of the Oldsmobile. Its pretty much across the board in the world I'm living in and a lot of people in this country live in my neighborhood. We want to stay right where we are, but its beginning to be like treading water just to stay afloat. Each big wave takes its toll and there are more waves on the horizon...

Hey 457PM, you are correct. People are afraid and they are really not in the mood for a 72 year old guy who changes his stance on the economy and a sarcastic, snarky politico who is ringing every bell of our worse instincts. We need change, the hope has pretty much gone by the boards.

This mornings Times carries news of a new movie to be made from the Frank Sheehan Story. I was wondering how the Epic Paul Sorvino Bob Cordaro movie is progressing? It appears it is not! Straight to video if Paulie can get someone, anyone stupid enough to put up more money. The Trouble With Calie continues. The taxpayers of Lackawanna County should never forget this classic rip off of 1/2 Million much needed dollars. This flick will never see the light of day!

The ads from Mccain are getting more and more desperate. The town meeting/debate tonight is going to be a real opportunity to see just what type of person will lead us as President.

Float like a Butterfly
Sting Like a Bee

Astute remarks on the part of 1:43.
Palin came off folksie, Biden went for distinguished, McCain may come out as angry and Obama's just gotta be cool and react or not react according to his own agenda.
Biden showed discipline, so must Obama. He doesnt need a knockout punch right now!
