BRAIN DRAIN VIDEO
The ramifications of WNEP TV’s Scott Shaffer’s question to the Scranton Mayoral candidates about proposed “brain drain” continues days after the event. A video popped up on You Tube and we have to share it with you.
JUDICIAL PROFILES
Our series on Judicial profiles has ended. We hope it was informative. We highlighted only those candidates who attended our LuLac Judicial Forum.
90 DAYS
News reports tell us Judge Ann Lokuta has 90 days to re-present her case before the Judicial Conduct Board. Lokuta says she has uncovered a witness who will link former judge Michael Conahan to dealings with the mob. The witness, not identified, will provide information that is crucial to proving Lokuta’s allegations that widespread corruption within the courthouse tainted the outcome of her misconduct trial. The 7 member board was convinced enough to grant Lokuta 90 days to gather additional evidence. The court will then review the information to determine whether it warrants the reopening of her case. Lokuta is seeking to alter or overturn the disciplinary court’s Dec. 9 order that removed her from office based on the testimony of dozens of people who painted her as a judicial bully.
PARITY IF NOT EQUALITY
Starting July 1, Pennsylvania government will begin offering full health care coverage and other fringe benefits to state workers' unmarried partners. The new policy, approved by the board of the Pennsylvania Employee Benefits Trust Fund in an little-noted action last September, will include the extension of full benefits to gay and lesbian couples, as well as unmarried heterosexual partners. Essentially, domestic partners and their dependent children will be treated the same as spouses of the covered employees and retirees. The benefits include medical, prescription drug, dental, vision and hearing coverage. Partners must be at least 18 and have lived together for six months, while providing proof -- such as a joint bank account or an assignment of power of attorney -- that their lives are intertwined.
OH BABY !!!!!
The percecntage of births to unmarried women in the United States has been rising sharply.
1. Childbearing by unmarried women has resumed a steep climb since 2002.
2. Births to unmarried women totaled 1,714,643 in 2007, 26% more than in 2002. Nearly 4 in 10 U.S. births were to unmarried women in 2007.
3. Birth rates have risen considerably for unmarried women in their twenties and over, while declining or changing little for unmarried teenagers.
1964
The United States State Department says that more than 40 hidden microphones have been found embedded in the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow……Statewide, Governor Scranton’s door has been visited by key national Republican leaders urging him to get into the 1964 GOP Presidential race. Michigan Governor George Romney got cold feet and decided not to jump into the race against Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater and New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller….The Philadelphia Phillies continue their assault on first place in the National League pennant race. Left hander Dennis Bennet closes out the month of May with a 5 and 1 record with the Phils fighting the San Francisco Giants for first place…..King’s College holds its graduation ceremonies and surprise of all surprises, the Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton did not criticize the keynote speaker but actually attended. Bishop Jerome Hannan greeted New York Congressman (and future New York Governor) Hugh Carey as the commencement speaker….and 45 years ago, the number 1 song in America and LuLac land was Peter and Gordon’s “A World Without Love”. This was the third British group to hit the number 1 song (The Beatles and Dave Clark 5) since the start of the year. This song was also written by the then budding team of songwriters, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

Finally someone with the guts to say it like it is. I have a live and let live philosophy but we've gotten away from raising kids with two parents who were in it from the start. I mean in many situations we have the kids parenting the adults. Good thoughts Yonk!!!!
Boy is that a blast from the past. Bishop Jerome Hannan. He confirmed me! And best I remember, he mingled pretty well with the local politicos of the day. Unlike someone we currently know.
As for the unwed moms, yeah I agree. There are so many of them in this "Cathoic" area but God forbid if you look crosseyed at them. I guess we have to wait until one of them rolls over on their baby and kills them after a night out of man hunting. Bt then, there'd be no outrage.
iT IS AMAZING THAT candidates running for the highest office in Scranton take a "pass" on a question. Jeez........and they are going to tell me that DeBilio is the guy to lead us in this new century.
Love the pic of the pregnant woman. I think pregnant women are so sexy!
Amazing you will judge and deride unwed women who get pregnant and yell about self responsibility. But fat people who are putting a strain on our system because of their inability to not shovel food in their mouth you will defend.
To quote Arsenio Hall, "things that make you go, hmmm?"
Hey 10:52AM, Yonki is not deriding anyone. All he has done is point out facts and on two studies. All he has done is tell you how society has accepted promescuity and gaven it a green light. All he pointed out was the fact that there are women who make bad or lazy choices. In this day and age where all methods of birth control are readily available, it is really irresponsible to behave in this manner. And weight issues of a metabolic nature have nothing to do with the epidemic of unwed mothers in this country. Get off of that arguement, buy yourself a hoagie and a hot fudge sundae for christ sakes.
Yo anon 12:21 ***hole. (edited) Most fat ****s (edited) don't have a metabolic problem they have a open ****ing mouth problem, (edited) like the knocked up unweds have an open thigh problem...
Okay, let's take a step back here. This is a study that was released on unwed mothers, not dieting or food. We are constantly told that our schools can't provide a good education to our kids. In part that's true because teachers, especially in the first and second grades have to take on the role of parent and disciplaniarn. The reasons for this range from bad parenting to neglect to inexperience to young woman not wanting to be mean to their kids. It is a social problem that has dumbed down the smart kids so that those concieved out of wedlock could be equal. It is a disservice to everyone around.
The competition was tough this week, but in the end no one can deny that Nancy Pelosi wins the
BIMBO of the WEEK Award. Way to take the pressure off where it belongs and give the fading GOP players a platform, Miss Nancy.
The BOIL on the ASS Award as usual goes to Rush Limbaugh for his attack on the 97 year old Mother of a War Hero! Jesus, Rush. What America did you grow up in?
Cassidy
gotta tell you that i love 1964 and agree with you on the ladies and the kids. they'll tell you how much they love their kids but in reality they love themselves more.
I wouldnt have seen the "Brain Drain Video" had you not posted it. Thanks. It was priceless. Best part is Bolus says he will continue to use a term which he clearly does not understand and DeBilio when he says he gets it now and clearly does not!
